  1. My experience has been that Orange have the edge on customer service, certainly as a business user this has been my experience. As for phone choice, I had a p900 but hated it as a phone. I keep straying, but I always come back to Nokia.
  2. Having bought something really, really stupid (a Jaguar XJR ) I might be selling my Octavia VRS. It's high mileage for the age, as I've used it mainly for long trips with my business (the old cliche "mainly motorway miles" really does apply here). Details: 53 reg 48k Corrida Red FSSH Cruise control Parking sensors Jabba'd Very good condition Nokia Handsfree Kit 1 Owner from new (me) Any ideas as to what I might expect it to go for?
  3. I have 19" Superleggeras on my Octy. After a lot of faffing with different tyres, we settled on 225/35/19 Uniroyals. They do NOT rub. Ever. Even when loaded with 4 lardy blokes and luggage. No rubs on full lock either. I have run my 19's for 40,000 miles and several trackdays (including several laps around the 'Ring) and have never once experienced rubbing. As for slowing the car down, maybe my wheels' light weight negates some/all of this effect, but I noticed no ill effects from making the swap, other than a harsher ride.
  4. I'm going on Wednesday the 2nd (Press day )
  5. Long time no post :ashamed: The leather on the bolster of my driver's seat is cracking, after 15 months and 45,000 miles. Has anyone had any similar problems? I will try my luck with a warranty claim - the leather is regularly "fed" and gets cleaned / conditioned as part of the full valet I have at every service. Maybe this is just the excuse I need to track down some Golf R32 seats.....
  6. Try www.avforums.com for some advice on the pros and cons. I went from a 42" RPTV to a 42" Panasonic 6 series plasma, and I haven't regretted it once - certainly haven't had any of the problems mentioned above. I am aware of their lifespan, but quoted in terms of viewing hours.... and by the time these were up, I'd have expected to have replaced it anyway.....
  7. If he doesn't I will........... been meaning to put it on ebay for weeks....... But try before you buy.
  8. I hope the 6600 is better than my POS Sony Ericsson P900.....
  9. Helmets aren't compulsary at Brunters (not sure if anyone thinks they are, just adding my 2p). I used a tank of fuel in an afternoon (about 180 - 200 miles), but there's an Esso garage not too far away, and they're fine about you popping out for some Super unleaded (no Optimax d'oh) or even diesel (if you must drink from the smelly pump). Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs....... just trying to be helpful!
  10. www.mswuk.com They're not really a retailer, though - they're wholesalers; they supply all of the Ripspeeds / Halfords for example.
  11. Oh - one more thing.... I covered 400 miles, including some excellent country roads, and have heard no rubbing, even under full suspension compression - it's definitely worth going for 225 tyres. As far as I can see, the only compromise for this wheels tyre package is a small amount less compliance in the ride. This is more than made up for by the looks and the improved steering / handling which the shorter, stiffer sidewall and an extra 20mm of tread seem to offer.
  12. Motorsport Wheels in Seacroft, Leeds. They're the importers of BBS and OZ, amongst others - they were very helpful, and we tried on loads of wheel tyre combos until we were happy. They have excellent levels of stock. They'd cost a bit more next time, even if you have my bargaining skills (!) , 'cos we ended up using more expensive tyres than I was quoted for (225s, which are dearer than 235s).
  13. Nope, and the car is now filthy. I might get chance on Sunday - any particular requests?
  14. Nope, and from a practical point of view I don't think it should be. It doesn't look TOO bad as it is, though....
  15. Oh, by the way, I was originally aiming for BBS wheels, but they are only available in an 8.5" width, 30 mm offset - and they stuck out too far from the arches - definite rubbing, and maybe even MOT failure!
  16. It's been done before, but I thought I'd share my experiences as I didn't quite find the answer I was looking for on the forums. OZ superleggy-thingys. 8 x 19". 225/35/19 Uniroyal tyres ET35 (we tried 235s on at first, but there would have been rubbing on the back arches). As far as I can see, there should be no rubbing with the 225s - three of us were bouncing up and down in the boot for ages ( ) whilst a look out watched for tyre contact with the back arches. i can use full steering lock without a problem. Rolling radius looked almost identical (I'm sure someone will use the tyre calculator to tell me), and it doesn't feel like the acceleration has been affected. As the wheels are super light, I'm fairly certain the the combined weight of the wheels and tyres hasn't increased (it may actually have decreased); certainly acceleration felt the same as ever. Ride quality is fine - a bit more crashy on the bumps, but that's to be expected with 35 profile rubber bands (I have standard suspension) Overall I am a very happy bunny! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
