  1. Sorry, also whats suggest for anti roll bars? what/who's/ where to buy the best ones.
  2. Can anyone help me out with the 312mm caliper bracket part numbers, or where to buy them? I need to replace the discs anyway, so I may as well wait and put the bigger ones on, just need the brackets.
  3. |What would you consider to be the best hardware?
  4. It's so quiet in here, I'm scared. A forum this size, and no opinions, must be a first.
  5. As you may have seen, I'm returning to the brand after having a Mk1 Octavia VRS a few years back. I loved the car and regretted selling it, but it wasn't the best example and it had a chequered past. So earlier this we decided we need a family car, requirements were estate 4WD, not too expensive to run, but something that will hold my interest. I went through small 4x4's (boring) Audi A6 possibly allroad (expensive should things need fixing) Subaru Legacy (engine worries) VW Passatt (not 4WD). I didn't consider the Occy' 4x4 as you don't see allot of them, and I wasn't sure what I could find for my money. Searching all the websites, I came across a mk1 Octavia 4x4, one owner, full service history, tow ball, dog guard, 62,000miles. I was a distance away but looked good and I knocked a couple of hundred off the the price over the phone. I decided to get the cash together, tap my dad up for a lift and make the 120 trip to take a look. I must admit when I first saw it I wasn't excited, she's a bit dull. But we looked around it and it was clearly a good car. All factory parts fitted, including spare bulb kit. I decided to but the car when I was looking through the paperwork, and saw the receipt for the new car with all the extras and the bulb kit listed. Drove it home, and it was nice, fast enough, better than I remember the VRS although the is a ? as to weather it's been chipped. It has clearly been sitting around, as the disc's have some heavy rusting, so the brakes aren't as good as they should be. Everything works, even the original radio. My question I put to the forum is, what do I do to it??????? With such an original car, should I leave it that way? I'm worried I may get bored, as she's a bit of a wall flower. I'm thinking of TT 17' wheels, VRS front bumper and steering wheel, leather Recaro seats. I'm going to leave the ride height, as I like the ground clearance. One thing is for sure, I need to do pads and disks. I was thinking of doing the 315mm disc conversion, is it just the calliper carrier brackets that need replacing? Could someone help me with part numbers and where/how to buy? I'll post some pic's up when I figger out how.
  6. ??? Have I missed something?
  7. Thanks Denis. I'm not sure if the one i've bought is chipped, the seller wasn't sure as the owner and him had discussed it once. It does seem to go well, better than i remember the VRS, but it may be the extra grip. Needs a leather interior, what fits?
  8. I've just bought the same car, i was lucky enough to find a low mileage one owner car. I had a mk1 VRS a few years back, but this suits my needs better at the moment. I don't like the interior, might look at changing the seats, does anyone know what others fit int to mk1? I like the height of the suspension, make it practical for where I live, but what other mods do people do the 4x4's. The problem is, it's so original, its even got the Skoda bulb kit in the back. I'm not sure if I should mess around with it???
  9. 45 views, no replys. Never used to be so quiet in here???
  10. Had a 2000 VRS loved it, but is had to go about 18 months ago. I need a car, to be able to go across a field once in a while, tow, roof rack, estate for the dog. Found myself a one owner 62k mile Octavia 4x4 estate 1.8t. 2001 Very pleased with it. The interior is dull though.
  11. Hi All, We have a MK1 Octavia VRS, been a good car for the past three years, but now has developed a starting fault due to a a discharge over night. It only happens intermittently. I put a battery on it out of cause, charging systems works fine. Did an amp leakage test with the alarm armed and it draws 0.15amp. Which I didn't think was to bad. I've been told of alternators faults that may be the same thing but I thought I'd ask here first. Any one had this? Thanks in advance.
