  1. Your headlamp is probably low because the internal adjuster has decided to stop working. Easy fix, pop the adjuster "cable"/pipe out of the headlamp and wind out the stop on the end a few turns then refir and check aprox level compared to the other lamp keep doing this until they are about the same then use the fine adjusters on the lamp unit to finish off. saves trying to replace the whole internal adjuster mechanism!
  2. Well my L&K has just left the fold and it was sad to see it go. In the sun she looked all shiny the wheels sparkled and i was trying to find ways of keeping her but the voice of reason (SWMBO) said she had to go. Never got so attatched to a car so quickly and i'm not normally the sentimental type. Why is when you see your own car driving away (not being stolen lol) they look and sound so good. Oh well running a Mondeo ghia x now on a 04 plate, nice car and much bigger but no real fun factor or giant killer about it. Might leave it a while and look into a 1.6 felly estate, try and get my toys back hehe. Will still pop onto the site as your all quiet a good bunch of chaps and chapesses and will inform you if the 1.6 is looming;)
  3. Ohhhh please don't restrain yourself (it might hurt) give me/us a giggle;)
  4. They may look funny but they are great fun to eat:D:D:D;) all tingly on your tongue:rofl:
  5. Unfortunately i think its just a modern trend in general, When i ride my motorbike used to nod at and getted nodded to by all bikers (was like a nodding dog when a group went by lol) but over the last couple of years have noticed 1-a snob factor setting in those on more expensive sports bikes don't bother and then 2-there is the what i call the BMW syndrome, nodded to a big BMW tourer got no response at all (by the way in my 40's and not a hooligan biker ) by coincidence ended up at the same place as him near Fleet st. as i recognised the one piece m/cycle suit he was wearing, any way saw him take off the one piece and had a suit and tie on underneath, put all his biker gear in his panniers and walk off with his briefcase. You'd never know he was a biker, almost as if he was trying to hide it. Sorry if it seems i hijacked a bit but i kind of thought the principles were the same. They use the vrs but to them its just a car with no enthusiasm at all. They may as well be in a base 1600 model for all the difference it makes to them, however at least a vrs looks good on their drive. touch of the snob factor as its a newer car than their neighbour's got maybe! Shame more motorists are becoming like this. :(
  6. Have you tried seeing how long the glow plugs stay powered up. with your multi meter switch ign on check to see how long they recieve power, on a cold morning it should be about 20secs at least before the warning lamp goes out but the plugs should still recieve power after this to aid with cold running and emissions, if its too short about 5 secs for eg. then the plugs may not be getting hot enough, I think the relay time is controlled by the ECU, dependant on coolant temp time. (good old temp sender again).
  7. Have you tried just banging short and hard the top of the dash above where the dash is not lit up, did this to mine and they've worked ever since lol:D
  8. NOt 100% sure but i don't think Diesel was the first to do compression ign engine think it was some decent old chap in good old Blighty near Luton I think, I remember reading it but can't remember the details, I'm sure someone on here will know more. Excellent thread though love this sort of stuff this is what computers were invented for !!!!
  9. Yes Tom the L&K does have them as standard but i've no wiring diagram for them but they must use relays because the wiring out of the switch does not look heavy duty enough. I remember S1 xj6 jags had eleccy windows without relays and used to alter the polarity inside the switch but if you looked at the wiring behind the panel it put the back of my home hifi seperate units to shame talk about speghetti junction and the thickness of the wiring put the national power grid to shame:D:D:D stay with relays Cepheuz its much safer:thumbup:
  10. I can see the advantage of a turbo over just HP increase. To get 120 hp you'll end up with a peaky high revving engine, nice fun to drive but tiresome all the time if its an every day car. Whereas a turbo isn't just about hp its also about huge dollop of torque over standard without having to reprofile cams or make it a peaky engine, lots of power low down (if you use a small turbo that spools up really quickly) can make the car feel really quick while you can still be a bit lazy with the revs. Plus you keep the cc below 1500 so cheaper tax and if it gets signed off properly by an engineer for the insurance it may not make that much of a hike to a specialist like Adrian Flux or similar. And at the end of the day if its something you want to do then go for it, It would be quiet unusual:thumbup:
  11. Hi all driving home from cold had a knocking coming from car every time i slowed down or speeded up and changed gear but funnily went once the car was warm:confused: looked underneath and found the rear mount has worn out, any idea of cost guys, before i start rinning around tomorrow. Also may have to sell the fun mobile as i now need a bigger car to carry more gear around without folding down the back seats all the time, oh the dilema as i've become quite fond of my giant killer:weeping:
  12. SIPS- Volvo's way of protecting you when you hit the fence sideways just before rolling over:D
  13. Mine are between the seats, L&K same as yours with the window switches there as well:thumbup: Even though handbook doesn't cover them it shows switches on the dash:confused: I don't think there are any handbooks for the L&K specific model.
  14. ABS is the nuts, i often drive down the back lanes round Newington to Gillingham and the ABS is often working like mad front and rear on the n/s grass verges while braking in staight line, I don't if its 'cause the ABS has a pump but the brakes are suprisingly good and not really ever suffered brake fade ( could be because i changed to super dot 4? and manually adjusted and greased the back plates on rear brakes, so on the rolling road for MOT will lock the back wheels as well as front) Not ever driven a non ABS Felly but if you could retro fit it would worthwhile:D
