  1. Yes, you really have to leave it on for a ridiculous amount of time. It's harder than you think as every time you start or stop the engine the radio switches off and resets the timer. Took three weeks until the car went on a long enough run to reset the radio. Right code put in - no problems now.
  2. Where do you work please? Radio locked out after a clutch change and wouldn't accept the code printed inside the plastic key thing. Different code printed in the radio manual, not been able to try that yet as it's been locked out for over an hour.

  4. Bought my car off Robinsons of Norwich 3 years ago. Their screen wash froze first weekend I had it; they had the cheek to charge me for a fuse! Avoid main stealers. I've used car plan concentrate for years, £3.49 for 5l, go down to 1:1 and it's fine down to -5.
  5. Where do you get good bulbs from? Both tail lights and brake lights go pretty regularly. I had to buy emergency bulbs off a petrol station first time, then I went to a spares shop and they sold me the same brand, Ring. Pennies at the spares shop though, twice that at a petrol station. I just had to get inside the boot trim to do the fuel filler flap; lots of water inside the trim. Won't have helped. Also, all last winter my power steering light came on after a cold start. And the winter before, but not this winter, and it's still on it's first 6 year old battery. Something's flaky with that ol' 'lastic trickery somewhere.
  6. I had a go at taking it off from the oustide; didn't get anywhere. So I had to take off: 1. The boot rubber seal. 2. The bit of plastic to protect the lip of the boot, two 10mm plactic bolts inside the spare wheel housing, then 6 clips along the outer lip of that. 3. The bit of plastic at the top of the carpet trim, 3 screws, then 3 or 4 clips on top. 4. The carpet trim that's actually in the way. Even then it was a ballache to do on the estate. And the cable popped back out when I put the carpet trim back in. Given that the bit you need to get access to is inside anothwer trim panel, if it goes again I'm going to cut out a square of the trim with a knife (watching for wires on the other side) and just gaffer tape it back in. I've no plans to sell the car before gaffer tape has a serious effect on its value.
  7. Mine "popped open" when left on an airport carpark. No fuel gone though. It's an estate, taking off the trim panel in the boot, as for a tail light, I can see the cable but the fuel "door" is not accesible from the inside. I'm going to try taking off the whole side trim panel with a screwdriver. Guess how much the Haynes has got on this. Nowt.
  8. Mine looks like that too. I've just found out that it just snaps apart if you push on the blade and the Skoda logo. Mine was flashing; snapping it apart stopped that so off now to check it still works. I don't know if there is anything in the manual about how to do that... I think the manual's instruction is take it to the dealer.
  9. Does this happen on estates too? I've noticed a HELL of a lot of condensation just recently, plus marks on the interior panel, N/S rear. I thought the marks were as a result of using it as a mobile shed, but I've noticed a lot of water sitting below the doors in the front when it's rained. Thanks for the link to that VRS forum, I might well give the DIY job a go, Robinsons of Norwich sold me a car with a ****y battery so they're not to be trusted. Will ordinary kitchen/bathroom sealant do the trick?
  10. My name is Matt and I have a Fabia SDI estate. Apparently the S stands for "suction", it could also be "sensible", "slow" or even "****". Economy up to 65 mpg, top speed about same in MPH. I joined as I'm after getting roof rails put on. Local dealer is Robinsons of Narrch, don't like them. Got an estimate of about £275 from Chequered Flag at Attleborough. Could get parts off ebay for £60 +VAT + delivery, unsure if I'm up to taking ceiling trim off inside though. Any advice? Going to repeat this on more appropriate section as well.
