I am trading in my 2008 Octavia VRS next month. I have filled my 20gb hard drive in my Columbus with my music and would like to transfer it to the hard drive in my next car. Other than transferring it bit-by-bit to 10x2gb sd cards, does any one know any better way? I won't have the two cars side-by-side, so I will need to briefly store the music from my present car before I load it into the next one. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

On cold mornings, the orange glowplug warning lights on my 2008 VRS 170 CR DSG, take up to 5 seconds to go out. When they do, I hear a muted coughing, grumbling sound. I then turn the key, the engine fires up and runs perfectly. Should I be worried?

My lumbar support in my 2008 Octavia VrS has given up the ghost! The adjustment knob just rotates without connecting to the mechanicals inside the seat. I have a Skoda extended warranty but this does not provide cover. My dealer estimates two/three hours labour @ approx. £85 ph, which is a bit steep. I appreciate that a rolled-up towel would do a decent job but my dodgy back would appreciate something more substantial. Does any one have any suggestions please?

I am slowly getting over hip replacement surgery and hopefully will soon get the go-ahead to resume driving ( CR 170 VrS DSG). To protect the new hip (left), I have to get in/out of the car by sliding the seat fully back and sliding in bum first and then swinging the legs through. My problem is that I am 6'6" tall, with long legs and I can't get far enough back. So, I need to be able to push my seat back until it touches the back seat. Any one know if moving/ replacing the seat runners is doable?

I have just fitted winter tyres to my VRS. They came from my dealer on hideous black steel wheels. I was going to buy wheel trims to improve the looks but my dealer warned me off, saying that driving in deep snow with wheel trims could be dangerous. This wouldn't have occurred to me but I have held off buying some. Does any one have experience or knowledge of what problems could arise?

Just come back from 2000 miles in France in my Octavia Vrs CR170 DSG. Went like a train (Eurostar, not Virgin!) Used cruise control for the first time - set it at 85mph and still averaged more than 45mpg. Gave the car a good clean today but had problems getting rid of thousands of dead insects stuck in the radiator. Was able to brush a few out but most are still stuck in there. Any suggestions for removal, or should I just leave it to the English rain to eventually wash them away?

My Octavia Vrs has 4 x 18" Zeniths with Michelin Pilot Exaltos. The spare is a 16" steel with a Bridgestone Turanza ER 300 205/55R 16 (is this a run-flat?). I intend to purchase another 18" Zenith and fit another Exalto. Will it fit my spare wheel well? Also, does any one have any suggestions as to how I can sell the steel wheel and the Bridgestone. How much are they worth?

I have a Vrs, CR with DSG. During this recent very cold snap, following a 6/7 mile urban trip, when the engine never really got warm, I parked the car and the fan cut in, ran for about five minutes and then stopped. This happened on three separate occasions. I have spoken to the dealer about this and he says that, as no engine warning light has come on, there is nothing to worry about. Seems peculiar to me. I have noticed that when this happens, the area at the back of the car above the exhaust is very warm to the touch but otherwise everything seems normal. Has any one else had this please?

I have carelessly kerbed my front n/s alloy on my two-months old Octavia vRS. It didn't sound much but the scratching looks bad. Any suggestions/recommendations please for a repair?

Apologies for slow reply (been out of action) but do you mean that you can shuffle all tracks randomly, like an ipod, not just play tracks randomly within an album? I can do the last bit but not the first. I exchanged e-mails with Skoda UK about this. They said that it was possible to do a completely random shuffle, so I took the car in to my dealer, whos say that it is not possible! Who is right?

Have just taken delivery of a new Octavia vRS CR 170 DSG - superb car. My only problem is with the Columbus sat-nav. I have saved various mp3 files on the hard-drive but when I press the "Mix" (shuffle) button, there is no random play and everything continues as before. Has any one else had this problem please?

I am about to take delivery of a new Octavia vRS 170 CR DSG. For running-in, I will follow Honest John's approach and build up the revs. progressively. I don't normally use Shell V-Power but I am thinking about it for the new car. Does any one have any thoughts as to whether using the fuel would help or hinder the bedding-in process?

I am looking round for good deals on a new vRS. One supplier is trying to push me to sign up on the basis that a price rise is imminent. Has any one else heard this?
