  1. Just gone to replace springs on the bargain Audi A4 Avant and cant find the locking nut. Also daughters old fabia one is missing and all the previous ones have had on a variety of cars have gone with the cars 😞 located in Knottingley, West Yorkshire and dont mind travelling a bit to get it sorted. If I can nick yours and order a replacement from ebay its just I cant wait till Thu/Fri as its supposed to be going back in for the MOT tuesday. its the 15 spline ones like pictured so this on ebay
  2. symptoms with cam were different last time. was smoking under load. This appeared to "happen" when she was driving, slowed to take a corner and then when accelerating away behaviour started going to try cold start tomorrow to see if its same issue when cold. also need to try MAF disconnected too
  3. OK, my daughter just pulled up and complained her Fabia is not right. took it for a spin around the block but only got around the corner and its not drivable. seems to be a misfire as no power and if you try accelerating it gets worse and car seems to hesitate really bad. (cant get over 10MPH) also if you press throttle to try and accelerate it starts a ticking/knocking sound and feels really rough. managed to crawl back around the corner and get it on the drive. I have scanned codes and there are none other than intermittent EGR which is always about so its not registering a misfire or injector electrical fault which would point at the loom, but not sure if the 1.4 does register misfire? I know the 4 cyl PD does its previously had cam lobes replaced and as far as I can tell there is nothing coming out the exhaust like oil/water/etc lack of codes doesn't help but appreciate any pointers I can work through as till its back running she has to "borrow" my A4 avant and i might never get it back
  4. So a question to those that have done it in a camper. What size camper, what time of year and how was the driving? Planning a trip in April so hoping to avoid mad crowds and have experience of driving the highlands as far north as the tip of syke and ive done the Argyll coast road from loch lomond all the way round to ballachulish. Have to do it in a camper for the dog but need to know if a mid sized camper not a transporter with a bed is going to be hard work..
  5. just an update, the wiring to for the smaller ECU connector was full of water, ECU itself bone dry inside and the ECU box in the plenum was not showing any signs of having been flooded but the cable took 2 days of shaking and wicking and spraying to dry it out. wonderful Audi design strikes again.. no wonder the engine was flakey as!!!
  6. Ok for future reference for anyone with same questions: I had cheap kkl cable off ebay. Used this in conjunction with vag k+can commander 2.5 setting it to k-line and it read the eeprom and pin. Checked this pin by logging into the ecu ok using vcds. So rb4 ecu pin retrieved, although vcds is flakey connecting to this current ecu so either it or the ecu wiring is flakey. Given there is a crack in the ecu box cover it was a safe bet that there was water somewhere now just need some time to get the ecu out and try the replacement to pull that pin and adapt to the car and see it comms to that one are also flakey or if it fixes the issue.
  7. I have picked up a 2004 a4 1.8t and from the symptoms I believe the ecu has suffered water ingress. I have a replacement and i need to get the pin or sky from the current ecu/cluster and from the donor ecu to be able to swap them over with vcds. I have tried various cables and vag eeprom programmer etc but not sure if the "no ecu found" is my laptop/cable/software or the car. So would apreciate help from someone that has a known working cable and app.. That CAN read ecu and cluster pins Beer tokens waiting..
  8. I am guessing this is a fairly major job due to the slave cylinder being inside the gearbox housing, but does anyone have the actual number of hours labour to expect and approx price for the clutch and slave cylinder kit? Symptoms I have are intermittent gear change stiff and something leaking off the of the casing ( think its hydraulic/brake fluid not oil) would take a guess that the clutch will need replacing due to contamination so just looking to work out rough costs..
  9. OK Nice condition Bolero unit fitted last night and seems to be all good. Dont have the phone bits but given they are trading @ £100+ I may have to wait for an ebay bargain. bitch of a job getting the unit to sit flush though as the cable loom is really stiff and not able to get it to wiggle into the free space so ended up with the glove box out to get access to tug it from the back. not the 5 minute job I thought it was going to be int he freezing cold
  10. Yes there is the door display in the middle of the cluster.
  11. does the bluetooth module come with the cable? as the ones I have looked at VAG on ebay seem to be just a module
  12. I Guess that the empty bit next to the blue plug would be for phone bits? Ariel but is this DAB too? I have no clue what this cable is for even after searching google images for anything GPS radio phone related???
  13. I posted this in the ice forum but its quiet there so posting here in the hope of getting some more footfall I have a 2011 scout which had a non coded "Audience" radio fitted. I have removed this as it was clearly the wrong one and my daughter needs one for her Fabia, I have steering wheel controls for Audio but not sure if these are used for phone as well if the option is fitted I am trying to work out what I need if I want OEM look with hands free phone integration. so these are the option codes on the car 8L5 ANT Roof antenna and "diversity" window antenna 8AG RAO Radio with CD/MP3 7Q0 NAV Without navigation device 8RM LSE 8 speakers (passive) 7A0 = Without CD changer/CD player 9W0 = without car phone preparation/installation So I guess 8AG is the standard Bolero unit without phone prep, oddly it doesn't mention the multifunction wheel? So if I wanted a OEM radio with phone kit what would I need??? Or are there better options out there for <£100???? Or would I be better going for one of the cheap chinese double din units
  14. its a bit quieter than I remember on the Octavia Mk1 forum so these are the option codes on the car 8L5 ANT Roof antenna and "diversity" window antenna 8AG RAO Radio with CD/MP3 7Q0 NAV Without navigation device 8RM LSE 8 speakers (passive) 7A0 = Without CD changer/CD player 9W0 = without car phone preparation/installation So I guess 8AG is the standard Bolero unit without phone prep, oddly it doesn't mention the multifunction wheel? So if I wanted a OEM radio with phone kit what would I need??? Or are there better options out there for <£100????
  15. Ok from the bottom pic I get that the GPS OR Phone bits could go into the gap next to the blue plug and that the double circle is aerial? but what on earth is the plug in the second, wait scrap that third pic as just realised it inserted an extra picture at the start??????
  16. Ok so my scout has an audience "fitted" using the term very loosely as the ariel is a different connector, its not coded and the surround was wrong. But I need ro know what should i be loo I ing at to replace it? I have arm rest so have the aux in and looking at the pictures of units on ebay the aerial connector seems right but how do i know if the car would have had telephone prep etc? Pics of the cables and connectors included
  17. On my old mk1 octy I ran 15" Audi pepperpots. Being forged they were 10lbs lighter and super strong. Is there a list anywhere that details which VAG OEM alloys are forged as I need to find a set of 16" for the new mk2 so 5x112 PCD instead TIA
  18. found these on the options sticker: 8AG RAO Radio with CD/MP3 8L5 ANT Roof antenna and "diversity" window antenna 8RM LSE 8 speakers (passive) 7Q0 NAV Without navigation device
  19. so managed to pull codes from VCDS RADIO advanced ID Advanced Identification Serial number: SKZ7Z4F0008388 Identification: FO3-000 Revision: 00013000 Date: 03.01.06 Test stand number: 0001 Manufacturer number: 0001 Flash Status Programming Attempts: 1 Successful Attempts: 1 Programming Status: 00000000 Required Conditions: 00000000 Flash Tool Code: 69794 576 25051 Flash Date: 01.01.00 Misc. Hardware number: 1Z0 035 156 B Lot Number: 000 Type Lock: 0000 VCDS Info: Labels: 1K0-035-1XX-56.LBL Is that going to need a paid decode or will the free databases cover that being an older unit? Also does anyone have the option codes that correspond to the radios/nav
  20. OK just scanned the Scout and here are the figures so by my maths and the mythical 175ml it should be good to 175K given that its covered 143k so far 1 hPa Particle filter; difference pressure 152 54451 m Particle filter; kilometers since last regeneration 153 2.38 l Particle filter; fuel consumption since last regeneration 154 0.14 l Particle filter; oil ash volume 155 2 hPa Particle filter; offset for differential press. 156 8.29 g Particle filter; soot mass calculated 157 -0.19 g Particle filter; soot mass measured 158 2844 s Particle filter; time since last regeneration 159 But what are the real options available now? Is cleaning now possible and is it cost effective vs replacement I did find this site has a chart with peoples measurements http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=324067 and there is one on there at 300ml of oil ash so did vag do different sizes of DPF??
  21. So the audience has been fitted ro replace a bolero or columbus then. Still need to know if it can be decoded from serial or VCDS though.
  22. Is it possible to code using VCDS or does this require trip to the stealers? I know older units could be done from serial number and some calculators. What are the fitment codes for the various radio offerings as I suspect the audience is not original unit
