  1. Hi Lummox, is the octavia 1.9tdi alternator still available 02 model 110hp

    Regards

  2. Hancock ventus prime K105 work very well for me. Beat the originals and the Pirelli P7's that replaced them. £62.00 fitted and balanced. wet and dry excellent approx 35k per set.
  3. Cheers Phil, why didn't google take me there ? Much obliged.
  4. Just putting together an incarpc with Infomap Navigator software. This allows importing of speed camera databases I guess in xls or csv format. Anyone have any idea where i can get this downloaded from. Cheers in advance.
  5. PREPROGRAMMED radio buttons 123456 assume 1234 as the code press button 1 once button 2 twice etc then >> more than 2 secs worked fine when installed. Been working for over a year. The reason I am after the manual if any is can't get the bugger out of tp mode.
  6. Symphony single slot cd (front loading) player in a fabia 2001 I have the security codes. Stereo went into safe mode for no apparent reason, no battery issue, fuses intact including the fuse on the back of the unit. Made an incorrect attempt to enter the code, so I should get attempt 2 after 1.5 minutes. Unit is stuck on displaying 2 SAFE meaning I guess 2nd attempt, however i never get to enter the codes, the unit just sits there, waiting 24 hours even made no difference. Puilled the unit from the car to discharge, pulled the battery, it wont allow me to re-enter the code. All fuses verified as intact, no functional issues leading up to the problem. Any suggestions. Cheers as an aside does anyone know (assuming I get it up and running) where i can get a manual from pdf perhaps.
  7. Cheers Ross. Technically up to the job if a bit rusty. Not done a change on a car before though. Most of the diesels I worked on are 3,000 hp + so getting amongst the tight space may be interesting. I am trying to get a balance between the hassle of doing the job at home and the cost of the special tools vs getting a garage eg Pilling to do just that specific job. Probably looks better at re-sale time as well. Appreciate your time. Regards
  8. Ross, I am going to do a belt change on a Fabia tdi 100 (march 2001 model) Heard many things about the belts, such as new material and newer belts available, longer time to next change ie greater than 60000. ? good idea to change the roller mechanism as well something about larger diameter bearings. ? also waterpump at the same time, although i heard that this was only worthwhile for pumps with nylon impellors. Also any special tools required. Part numbers and prices would be good and do you have them in stock or order times. Probably not expecting you to answer this one but third party parts any good. Regards
  9. doh, usual typo, there are 2 plugs 1 to drain and 1 to fill, but you spotted that already I guess.
  10. No Piccies Im afraid Car on the flat, as this is the way to measure the correct top-up/refill amount description as viewed from looking at front of car drop the plastic sump cover. rh side of the engine (obviously on the gbox) is a horizontal plug. approx 15-17 mm across flats. (halfords sell a gearbox plug removal tool or use an allen key if you can get a large enough one.) unscrew this and drain the oil. refill with vw oil or use a gl4 rated gbox oil (I heard that a gl5 rated oil is not best for VW synchromeshes !?) most of the aftermarket cans have a spout that accepts 10 mm plastic hoses. Best to pour it in from the top of the engine bay by the battery using a length of hose. You can squirt it in from below but why make life hard. When it starts to flow over the lip in the gbox its the correct level. I think 2 litres will give you a full change plus some spare.. replace plug, to be pedantic you could use some ptfe tape, I find they don't leak if screwed back in as it appears to be a tapered thread.
  11. if it says for example vw 505.01 as an oil spec anything that meets that spec is okay, I only posted as an indicator that Skoda had thrown their hat in with Shell rather than the usual VW line which appeared to be Castrol. Some people for example use Castrol GTD in a PD engine, 'good luck to them'. You pay your money and take your choice.

  13. Okay following suggestions bought the sony cd changer and interface unit. Only to find this will never work in a 402 hu as it has no mode or src button to select the cd. so the advertising info on these websites is wrong, confirmed this with skoda uk tech, a skoda dealer and the supplier and advertiser of the info. http://www.connects2.com/ so a big thumbs down to http://www.connects2.com/
  14. Cheers, this is probably the adapter bit he scribbled on the paper he gave me, I can read the price bit which matches but not the description. Looks like a possibility then.
