  1. Yeah, i remember that story and the first thing i did was to check my number plate hoping i owned a feature car :thumbdwn:
  2. Joined a few months ago but havnt got round to introduce myself, anyway im Paul and ive come from a Impreza STi to a R33 Skyline to a Evo 5 and now a Skoda . Reason being i needed to free up funds to put into my house and i wanted a cheap performance car. So here it is although it has cost me a small fortune to do it up, ie. a full service (inc. cam belt and water pump), also front suspension replaced and the icing on the cake... A new clutch so im hoping for full reliabilty for 2009. The car is pretty much standard apart from front lowering springs, ARB bushes, tinted glass and extra spoiler on roof lining...
  3. Hi guys, just had the VAG-COM on my car and its brought up that the N249 valve is faulty. Anybody know where this is located on the car (vRS mk1) and some photos would be helpful too. Cheers Paul.
  4. Does this code mean its the re-circ valve?
  5. Right guys here's the story so far.... I bought an 2001 octy vrs in August this year and found a coil pack faulty so replaced the coil pack (new from ebay) and renewed the spark plugs. Anyway the car has performed perfectly until last nite when arriving home from work the tick over was erratic (ticking over about 400rpm) then stalled so removed the engine cover and found the ebay coil pack not fully home in the engine block (also noticed this when had the cam belt done aswell). So off to Skoda and bought a new one coil pack and seemed to work, no erratic revs. Started the car this morning and the idle was all over the place (back firing too), had the car vag-com tested and it brought up one fault: 17608 - boost pressure control valve (N249) : mechanical malfunction P1200 - 35-00- - Would this valve cause the problem? Cheers for any help.... Paul.
  6. Yeah, i think your right cos ive had the traction light on when boot it in low gears. Will get that sorted The car has only done 65k, what is the average life on a oem clutch? Cheers Paul.
  7. Not sure if its clutch slip or traction control but noticed today that when i accelerated in 5th the revs seemed to flick up and down the rev range, the car appeared to accelerate ok. If it is slipping can these be adjusted or do i need to replace the clutch. Cheers Paul.
  8. Could be a sticking actuator, had it on my Evo 5. Used to pull very hard up the rev range then would hit fuel cut (like hitting brick wall) which was caused by overboosting. Easy way to find out is having a boost gauge fitted to help monitor the boost levels. Paul.
  9. Hi Guys, My first post so my first question of the day: Im thinking of getting my octy vrs remapped in the near future - do i keep to the standard plugs or do i need to upgrade them to a colder type? Cheers Paul.
