  1. Judging by the noise i very much doubt it's a heat shield noise cause it aint rattles but loud noises .
  2. Will find the evidence with regards that clutch click noise is normal and post it here . its all part of the trust bearing fork operation when depressing the clutch pedal , and yes I know , it's quite annoying .
  3. Not mine but of a client .On uneven roads metallic noises can be heard as if a caliper or brake pads are lose or something lose inside gearbox . terrible metal to metal noise as if all is lose up front. clicking noise when depressing clutch pedal is acceptable but can't understand the source of the noise . car has less than a thousand kilometres . all has been checked and tightened . new brake pads and caliper guide rubber to be on the safe side but no I use still there . tried another one with 10k on the clock and was just as worse . anyone has similar issues ? . seeing so many gearbox problems on this forum do you think its a gearbox problem ? .
  4. Clutch clicking noise is normal , Skoda even issued a video to the dealers showing the symptoms and noise and advising that's its normal .
  5. Am 100 % definite that I am referring to the Octavia .. Rapid is build at a cost and it just shows . I didn't like it , my opinion that's all ... Will stick to my current Octavia for a longer period ...
  6. I am talking here about looks,am pretty sure that the Octavia is in a class of it's own to drive and the rapid won't match it but I had higher expectations ....
  7. Yep it was ... And I heard similar opinions, don't get me wrong, but yes,Skoda are looking into reducing costs to keep price down, ain't saying that it ain't screwed together well or it will break down, the rapid is cheap cause it was built to be so to compete but as I said stepping into the Octavia you'd expect something completely different, it's nice but u won't say wow ... A major step both in design and interior build quality was carried onto the Octavia 2 from the Octavia 1 but it's not the case on the new model ... Looks nice but not that I'd want to swap mine for it ....
  8. the very first Octavia reached our shores two days ago and I had a closer look at it today , still has to drive it though , it's a 1.8 TSI demo car , fully kitted bar the panoramic roof ... Love the big sat nav screen which seems easy to use but otherwise am a bit disappointed by the overall car , styling wise it looks very very similar to the Rapid , interior space is roughly the same and the dash is one piece of black dull trim , they should have cut a line with fakish aluminium or wood trim as on the Superb and previous Octavia that carries on from the door trim ... Some fit and finish is not up to standard either , the rear door cubby holes are so small and pointless and i must say that Skoda should have done something better , have an 07 pre facelift Octavia Ambiente and in my opinion the boot is more shallow and deeper and although the interior is more plain and conservative , the new Octavia's dash will look dated in a years time ... the fit and finish of some rubber trim especially round the doors is not up to it too .. I think that size and space wise the Rapid's cabin and boot are so close and if I am looking for a family sized car , with the essential comforts and a good boot i think I'd go for the cheaper Rapid ... A fully kitted Rapid will cost less than a bog standard Octavia ...
  9. The bonnet has two actuators under each bonnet hinge which pop up at accidents from 30 km/h to 55 km/h . These sort of act as air bags in the event that a pedestrian is hit , lift the bonnet upwards slightly and the bonnet itself is constructed to act as a cushioning material which can absorb the impact , most probably a hydraulic strut to hold the bonnet up would have made this safety system pointless ...
  10. I know that reverse gear has no synchro but it's bleedin annoying ... it's not a case of misuse but seems normal on all Citigo's ...
  11. Skoda issued a bullettin to dealers informing them that the clicking noise when pressing / depressing the clutch pedal is normal and nothing can be done ...
  12. First service , engine oil and filter change .. here in Malta we do first service at 3000kms and then yearly or every 10k , since we have just shot distances and quite a dusty polluted environment ...
  13. Anyone has similar problems ?.Obviously with a stationary car , when going into reverse it seems that there is a crunching noise , when you put it into first or any other forward gear for that matter and then select reverse it slips in easily without any noises but otherwise it makes a horrific noise as if there's some teeth broken in some reverse gear , checked on numerous other new Citigo's and all are the same .. Has anyone of you experienced something similar , It's got 3000 kms now , just had it's first service so it ain't a case of a '' new '' car that still needs to be run in ..
  14. .. The time has come up to swap the Audience head unit with the Bolero I got . Audience is rejecting any CD's I am trying to play and the radio reception is a bit iffy , driving the car without proper music on is driving me mad as I can't stand the bleedin' diesel clatter anymore .. Now , I know I have asked this question some time ago but had no concrete response , since my car is fitted with the extra factory speakers and amplifier I plugged in the Bolero , all worked up except the main important thing , no sound whatsoever ... Can please anyone of you let me know how to code the damn thing by VAS or any other software , what guided function menu to enter to code the radio ... Thanks all , and an urgent response is greatly appreciated ... Am not really interested in coding it with maxidot as well and the gateway issue would be resolved as I already have a later gateway version which would be simple to code so at this stage all that matters is having the radio fully working ...
  15. The video of the rough running Superb ... Can anyone help please ?.Tried looking on the net for similar problems but found nothing ...
  16. Hi all , am writing this post on behalf of a friend of mine car in question is a Superb 2.0 ltr diesel BMP engine code ,it's been running like this on idle ever since the car required a short engine due to sever piston slap on number 1 , on idle at times it runs very rough , switch it off and it works nearly fine though not all the time .. All has been checked and replaced , a new head too , DPF is clear, fuel lines , tandem pump you name it ... someone even suggested alternator which we overhauled but car stayed the same , computer giving no faults .. The only thing untouched are the injectors , has anyone encountered such problem ... video of how engine's working on idle below ...
  17. We get the HTP here in Malta where smaller engined cars are more popular due to the short distances ... And I looked at an Elegance too ... still don't like the feel of the cheap plastics .. but overall I'd have a Rapid anytime , car is big and spacious and I like the design but as most said , when upgrading from a Fabia or Roomster it's a big upgrade but when going from an Octy 2 to a Rapid you can suddenly feel that the Rapid was built at a budget price ...
  18. I test drove a 1.2 HTP Rapid last saturday and even though it by no means is what you call a quick car it performs rather well .. When you consider the cheap price it carries it makes a good city car after which you can get rid of in 5 years tme when the warranty runs out ... It pulled well even with the a/c on and the engine seems more smooth than in a Fabia but being an Octavia 2 driver u can clearly see how Skoda removed or didn't even to bother screw and trim that the car can't do without .. At first I though that some one must have ripped out the auxuliary jack cap but looking at other rapids it looks like Skoda saved probably 10 cents off each car by smply removing the cap , the interior looks cheap , a vas mass of black plain dash board , the sound form the stereo is horrible and the tailgate makes a nasty noise when closing .. One key is without any remote at all and can't see the point of the small bin in the rear doors .. Liked the mobile phone holder in the front cup holders though and again at that price it's a big car for the money although if price cut will result in cheap looking cars , Citigo and Rapids for now , who know what will the future will give us that I can't see what bright future Skoda will be having ...
  19. My whole point was that say in a heavy side impact where the passenger's door can't be opened and the bonnet would need to be opened quickly to disconnect the battery or whatever to extinguish some electrical fire or whatever it wouldn't be an easy task ...
  20. Have yet to drive a Rapid but for those on a tight budget it might as well do ... Compared to my Octavia 2 , which is a 9 year old design it feels cheap though , don't like the hard door card plastics and the centre dash looks cheapish ... to lift it up they should have done an '' aluminium '' looking strip along the dash and doors as on the Octy 2 , the lower parts of the front seats is not covered up and the first thing u'll see when u open the doors are ugly seat rails , not even in an Estelle ... and a particular design fault a friend of mine pointed is that u can't open the bonnet unless u open the passengers door as the bonnet latch interferes with the drinks holder in the door cars , imagine a heavy side impact and the battery would need to be disconnected fast ... no freekin way ...
  21. Hi all , a mate of mine is looking for a replacement gearbox for his 07 Octavia 1.9 estate which went bang and is said to be beyond repair .. Car is a 5 speeder . No where in Malta can we find one that fits and he said he searched on e bay but with negative results .. Anyone out here have any suggestions from where we can source one second hand from a scrappie or something as a new one costs well in excess of 5000 euro !!!!!
  22. Since the superb and yeti weren't included in this new badging thing then I am presuming that a face lift is on the way soon most probably for the superb first .. Am I right ?.I lie the current yeti, don't know how a facelift can make it look any better !!! .
  23. At the moment it's quite scary ... Even though everything up front has been overhauled there's terrible free play in the steering department ... Am working to convert car to a rack system , just got my self a narrow rack axle and pedal assembly so off it goes next .. Engine wise the current one has a slight misfire which I'll fix soon and the exhaust is blowing , working like an old beetle and since fitting 65 profile tyres speedo is being rather optimistic , it's over reading quite badly , reading 60 mph in reality is 35 - 40 max so if we judge 0-60 from the speedo it's as quick as a Ferrari 458 italia :giggle: :giggle:
  24. Hi All,here is my 1979 120 Ls,basically got this from a friend of mine after much persuasion , car was in his possession only for a year where it belonged to a guy who restored it but never finished it due to a short illness and passing away twelve years ago,car was left in a garage for 11 years ago before my friend rescued it as it was going for scrap, the minute I saw it I wanted it and after a year's persuasion it is sitting at my garage ... Basically the car was dismantled into pieces and all was restored ... All I did was strip it down lightly again and gave it a new cot of paint and a tidy up since the previous owner had painted a nasty red stripe along the side, car is non original ( it's a Favorit shade,4335,aqua blue ) but I love it ... Car almost ready for the road.Took it for a short spin yesterday but will give the necessary attention to the brakes,a good service etc,etc ... Enjoy the pics ... How I got the car . Almost ready ..
