  1. Thanks both. Put a spare 16GB SD card in and ran the Satnav CD to test - it copied it to the SD card perfectly. Just ordered a 32GB card so I can load up the A-Z of the Pantheon of Rock, too! With regards the key...Lex Auto Lease who I bought the car from from said they'd contact the dealer for the immobiliser code, so I'll wait...the individual it was leased to left their home address in the Satnav, so I just might drop them a line...nothing to lose I guess. Once again thanks, much appreciated.
  2. Hi All, A bit of advice on a couple of questions please. I've just bought a 2011 Octavia Greenline II after having had my trusty Fabia estate for the last 14 years (still in the family though!) I got a cracking deal on this ex- fleet Octavia and it's utterly brilliant. However, two minor niggles; there is no spare key and the SD card is missing (although the Nav CDs are present) Question 1: I've sourced a key from TPS, a local Skoda factors and they've quoted £70 and will order it as soon as I've got my new V5, although I have to get the fob programmed myself - I've read that this can be done quite easily provided I've got the immobiliser code, or am I barking up the wrong tree here? Is there a cheaper way of getting the key and fob done all in one? Question 2, is around the Amundsen Navigation. The CDs are present so I can run the Satnav from these, but obviously I would prefer to load the info on a SD card so I can play CDs. I presume I can use any SD card as an SD card is an SD card or is there some hidden software on the 'Skoda' SD card? - I suspect that this might might be the case as I'm unable to setup the 'Phone' option, to work the Bluetooth as all it does at present is mute the audio. All clean answers would be much appreciated Thanks in advance Rob
  3. Well decided to have another bash at it and not go out on my bike! -Took instrument pod out and gave it a good spraying with contact cleaner and removed speedo sensor to check it and did same...I'm totally flummoxed. What I did notice is when I put the key in the ignition and turned it (but not started it), the speedo needle moved so there is current there. I guess there's either a break in the wiring loom or I'll have to fork out for a sensor unit..hmmm
  4. Time to get under the car...ho hum! B@LL*cks to that it's glorious weather I'll go for a ride on my Harley instead...much more preferable
  5. Well well...I've just had the battery tested and guess what?...its charge rate is 100% so that puts paid to the battery theorists! Back to square one...
  6. Cheers, thanks for that Rob. It does 'feel' like an electrical fault rather than the sensor packing in as in addition at low speeds the engine bounces as though it's got kangaroo fuel in it. I've also experienced the flickering headlights syndrome along with the infamous PAS light coming on - I'll check water ingress and take it from there...
  7. Thanks for the advice - I've already checked the connections to the sender unit and removed it for inspection - which seems visually ok (wouldn't know how to test it though). Trouble is I've read so many horror stories about the electrics failing in general that I'm loathe to buy a new sender unit only to find out that it's not the problem - not that I'm a tight wad or anything.
  8. I've had my Y reg 1.9 SDi Fabia estate from new and it's been a great car...until now. A while back the PAS light came on and having read a few discussions, knew this was a common problem and took the attitude of I'll fix it when I get around to it - not overly concerned. However, a week ago the speedo went and along with it the trip meter. Needless to say the fuel guage is less than accurate. Anyone point me in the right direction? I'd like to get it sorted as next year I hope to pass it on to my daughter when she passes her test.
  9. I'm new to the group. I drive a Y Reg Fabia 1.9SDi estate. Had it from new and it's been a fantastic little car. However, recently I've been plagued by what I can only describe as a bouncing rev counter on start-up with engine sounding if it's going to conk out. Engine hesitates on acceleration from start up. Once you've got up to the desired speed it seems to behave, but should you drop the speed and accelerate it starts stuttering. This can be overcome by either putting your foot down harder (causing a plume of smoke) or by blipping the clutch whilst your foot is still on the accelerator. This problem is intermittent; some days it's there, some days it's not. When it does come back, it does it with a vengeance and to be honest it both embarassing and a pain in the ar*e. It's been regularly serviced and I've only done 77K. I mentioned the problem on the last service, but they couldn't find anything on the diagnostic monitor, yet they agreed there was a problem with acceleration and stuttering. I'm mechanically minded - are there any solutions anyone can come up with that I can remedy myself, rather than going to the expense of a mechanic? Cheers Rock god
