  7. Hi Guys I wonder if any of you can help me here just doing the cambelt and water pump on my fabia VRs 2004 I.m a little confused with the camshaft sproket. Firstly have put water pump in and new tensioner and guide but can not get the belt on it is just to bloody tight am I missing something. I tryed puting the belt on the then putting the tensioner on last then moving the locking back stud with a screwdriver so it locates but this kept throwing the crankshaft locking tool out and moving the timing. I have been following the autodata guide and it says to loosen the 3 camshart sproket bolts then turn the camshaft sporket fully clockwise and do them up finger tight. Now these bolts are in the center postion if I turn it fully clockwise then tension it up the bolts do not go to the center postion again they still stay towards the left side might move a tiny bit. Do these bolts need to return to the middle postion or can they stay where ever as the camshaft is looked with the locking pin? Thanks for any help. Galee

  9. Hi did you have an update on this I have the same problem I have an Octavia 2.0 T FSI VRS 06 Reg and it has the same code with the engine light on P1531 Camshaft timing adjustment - Open circuit. I have taken the engine cover off and all sensors look plugged in can anyone show me where the offending sensor is and what it is like to change do the cams need to come out? Also how I can check that is at fault as I have been told the sensor is £260-£270 and want to be sure it is that before spending out that sort of cash. I have attached some photos the first is the engine bay from above the 2nd is the pass side and the 3rd is the drivers side. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff41/elloboss/DSC03341.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff41/elloboss/DSC03342.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff41/elloboss/DSC03343.jpg Any help or advice much appreciated Regards Galee
  10. Did you ever get this sorted? I have the same problem with a 2001 51 Reg octavia 2.0 will not comunicate at all with any controler have checked all fuses and all okay. Thought I would take some of the dash out to see if there was any problem by the fuse box or odb port. Then all of a sudden the code reader went in then it lost comms. Is there a relay for the ecu/odb connector there is power there to power the code reader but no comms or comms once should I say then no more. Galee
  11. Hi thanks for the reply I can't here the clicking. But if I put it in reverse and touch the middle sensor I get a constant beeping very quickly. It only happens if I touch the middle sensor won't do it if I just walk past it. And if I touch the other sensors nothing happens. I have read a few posts on here and everyone seems to think if you go in with vag.com it will tell you which sensor is faulty but how could it tell which sensor was faulty if it could not communicate with the parking aid? Galee
  12. Hi all I have a fabia vrs it has the factory parking sensors fitted that are not working when put into drive I here a 5 second beep and they don't work. I have had it on a code reader a Launch x431 so no vag.com printout to post. But it will not communicate to the parking aid system at all it will talk to all other systems but not the parking aid. How can I test they system surely if the parking sensor was bad it would still let me in and tell me which sensor was bad? Or could the parking sensor ecu be at fault? If so where would it be located and how could it be tested? Are there common problem with and of the above failing?? Thank for any help. Galee
  13. Hi all I have a 2001 51 octavia Vrs with the airbag light on have read it with a fault code reader and it is coming back with 65535 U48023 Internal control module memory checksum error. Have done some searching around and it appears a new module/ecu is needed. What I would like to know is can I fit a 2nd hand unit from a diffrent car? Does it need coding to the car? I have located a 2nd hand unit with the same part no 1c0 909601 could I just swap these units over? Is there any danger of the airbag deploying? Thanks for any advise. Galee
  14. Hi all okay I have lived up the motor out of the car using pins 1 and 2 and this operates the locking actuator so it looks like thhat is fine. But when I connect it into the car via the plug on the bottom of the lock it will not operate. I tested pins 1 and 2 and there is no live getting the only a earth pulse anyone have any idea as to where I should continue looking? Galee
  15. Hi all I know this has been asked on here many time before and I have searched and read most threads about it. I have a 2004 54 octy tdi 130 all doors lock from the key and unlock fine. But if the fob is used it locks and unlock all doors bar the drivers door. Also the interior door lock button does not lock the driver door but all others. I have had the control unit out of the window housing and there was a little bit of water but not much and no rusted pins or loom. I cleaned both ends and still no joy. Then I have removed the lock unit to check for bad solder but none found I did resolder anyway. What I want to know is there anyway I can check if the door lock unit is working while I still have it out of the car? It has about 10 pin on the bottom of the unit am I able to power up with say a power probe a few pins on the bottom to test if the locking actuator is working or not? Galee
