  1. Problem sorted guys. Was as simple as a blown fuse. Not sure what happened though, as i thought i had checked all the fuses before. However i was frustrated and p*ssed off at the time, so guess i could have easily missed it. I'm just thankful that i re-checked the fuses before taking the door to bits again............ HXDave
  2. anewan, thanks for your reply. so, should i consider looking at soldering the wires then. i must admit, i have just twisted & taped the wires, but i guess this is not good enough. In reality, could this be the problem i have then? HXDave
  3. hi there, was wondering if anyone could help with a major problem i have. I'll give you the full rundown of what has happened. the window regulator on passenger side packed up a few days ago, and went to replace it. in the process of replacing it, and following a 'how to' guide on here, i had problems removing the connector plug that was inside the door and went to the locking mechanism. Eventually i had to cut the cables in order to continue with the window problem, so then connected all the wires back when re-fitting the door bits. Now my central locking will not operate, and because i couldnt replace the push down switch on the passenger side door when fitting the door back together again, i cannot lock the passenger side door or the boot, or the boot. the back seat doors can be locked, as can the drivers door, but not passenger or boot. the key only operates the drivers door, and the door lock / unlock buttons on the drivers armconsole are dead, and do nothing! can anyone help, as due to work i am not sure when i can get it into a garage. any suggestions grateful, as would any skoda mechanics in the halifax / west yorkshire area that would maybe like to help out a fellow member. Kind regards HXDave
  4. Hi all, Have tried searching on here, but to no avail. Does anyone have any knowledge or access to information as to how i can get to the window winding mechanism on a 03 Fabia 1.2 HTP (1.2, 12 V). It's electric windows, and the passenger side is faultu. I can get the door card off, however after that it is a large metal piece within the door that seems to remove using 7/8 bolts. however when i unscrew thee, i cannot get the middle bit out due to the top left hand corner, where the connections are to open the door & lock the door. Anyone any idea's? Regards. Dave
  5. wardy, it's not the flip key i have, just the standard key with 2 buttons on (open & close) the fob. we do have a second key, but that is totally non remote. i am doing nothing different now from what i was doing with the original battery that came with the keys when i bought the car. totally strange...........
  6. cheers wardy, but the last one was a duracell, and whilst it did last longer than the others, still only lasted 8 weeks or so.
  7. Hi guys, running an 03 Fabia Htp (1.2). Remote central looking. the problem is i have had my car a fair few years and then back end of last year the remote key fob stopped working. Changed battery and hey presto works again. However the batteries that i am putting in now only seem to last 2 months, as i am now on my 3rd batter since changing. Am i missing something here? is it s ppecial type of battery or something? Any assistance welcomed. Regards HXDave
  8. Joe C, screwdriver in the small channel / gap og the front of the keyfob, or round the edge? Cheers HXDave
  9. Hi all, can anyone advise how to remove the battery from the remote key fob on my Fabia 1.2Htp. There does seem to be a little channel on one side of the key bob, but cant seem to get this to do anything, and the reso of the fob seems solid. Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers. HXDave
  10. Thanks for the quick answers guys. Yes, all the windows and doors are secure, and even when blowing hot air through the vents, you can still feel the draft. I guess first steps seem to be to check the pollon filter. I'll see how that goes and if it doesn't work, i'll be back......... lol Cheers.
  11. Hi all, wondered if anyone could help with this. I have a Fabia 1.2Htp on 03 plate. for the last few weeks there seems to be quite a bad draft inside the passenger cabin, and with the temperature being cold outside, its really noticable. i'm not sure if the start of this ties in when i had car MOT'd (together with a bit of work, but not much - just new front end exhaust, CV kit and a bit of work on back brakes), so not sure if connected or not. Just wondering if anyone could shed any light on this. Trouble is, as the OH hasn't driven for 6/7 years, i can't drive the car and try investigate where it is coming from at the same time. Regards HXDave
  12. is the 'cat' ok? this happened to me a while ago on a fiesta. turns out my cat was breaking up and blocked the exhuast, thus supressing the engine. once we had stopped, all the bits of the cat settled on the bottom of the exhaust, thus allowing clear passage of exhause gasses to pass through, thus no longer supressing the engone. apologies for the excessive use of the word 'thus'..........
  13. *** UPDATE*** my car now in the garage, and it needs a new track rod arm & track rod end (well, i think that's what he said) £100.00 the lot, fitted. sound a good deal? i think so, was expecting worse to be honest.
  14. give the guy a break - as this info is not in my handbook i got with the car, i have always had to use the downloadable one on here.
  15. thanks for the replies guys. not noticed anything different with the position of the wheel, but only had a glancing look this morning when i got to work. haven't tried the full lock to lock yet either. car does still seem to drive well though. anyway, cant really do anything until the weekend, but will just have to take things very easy, and only drive when essential. cheers.
