  1. We got Maxi-Cosi Elea + Maxi-Cosi Pebble and FamiliFix isofix base.
  2. To me it looks more like the ASR is kicking in and reduce the engine rpms. Try to turn it off before this is happening. Why would the ASR light up if it is the rev sensor? It could be an ABS sensor sending wrong information.
  3. Try to turn off the ASR and check if is still behaving like that.
  4. For the 1.4 16v 100bhp engine the manual suggests that the full power is obtain with super unleaded. It is also on the fuel flap. Try 1-2 full tanks of it and see how it goes.
  5. Are you using Super unleaded 98 RON?
  6. I would also mention the use of Super unleaded 98 RON for maximum power and reliability.
  7. The early engines on 1.4 16v were prone to piston rings problems. As you are looking at a 05 car, that will have the later bbz code engine. They still like the super 98 Ron petrol to get the full power. The 1.4 mpi is quite thirsty and was provided just on early cars.
  8. ACR should be on by default and is off when the light is on. So I presume he reset the ECU and the ABS system as it got stuck in believing that the car is skidding.
  9. I got mine reconditioned for £500 including the fitting, I made the mistake to be there while they were doing it. They manage to drop the gears on the floor, plus washed the internals with water. The put Triple Q oil in it. I changed it after about 50 miles to genuine one. What came out was white and not clear because of the water in it. But now after about 1000 miles is OK, so in the end as long as you change the oil after a while, everything should be fine. Also they didn't tight up properly the front wing liner and the battery cable was a bit twisted.
  10. What engine is it? Could be also a coil pack. If it is a petrol you look at about £130 for o2 sensor.
  11. ASR should be on in winter. Should be off just in deep snow as you might not go anywhere otherwise. Fit 4 winter tyres as having them just on the front will make your car uncontrollable on the back if you have to brake hard.
  12. Maxi-cosi Elea and pebble seat with family fix base, didn't try the seat yet but should fit
  13. Not sure if wd40 good for electronic contact cleaner, you should try proper contact cleaner like this http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=279481&CMP=e-2072-00001000&gross_price=true which also lubricats
  14. Maybe just a bit of contact cleaner/oil in the switch will do it. You spray a bit of it and then move it completely few times.
  15. I think mine were Pagid as OEM, so I got some coated Pagid with 30% discount from eurocarparts.
  16. 98 RON for 1.4 16V, otherwise you don't get the full power and also you might get reliability problems. If you do a search there is a quite a bit about this.
  17. I think the address is Oakview Stud Farm Lombard St, Dartford DA4 9DF Kent
  18. Try to clean the crankcase breather of white mayo, your oil consumption might drop. Also you could try after an italian tune and maybe some Comma Petrol D-Tox.
  19. My gearbox has a nasty noise, anybody had any experience with 1st Gear Transmissions in Dartford (they are supposed to be specialised on VW gearboxes) or any other recommendations in the Orpington, Kent area? I think is the input shaft bearing probably, is whining in almost all gears and when is stationary rattles a bit when the clutch pedal is not pushed. Otherwise the gearbox works OK. The car is a Fabia Elegance 2005 1.4 16V with 36K miles.
  20. You can check also from the sticker in the boot or on the service book(there is some checker somewhere, I can't remember the site). My car is 2005 and has factory fitted.
  21. As I know the elegance trim had factory fitted sensors, are they sure they are not factory fitted? Are the sensors beeping continuously even if something is in the back, that will make it otherwise to give an intermittent beep? Mine were beeping continuously at some point, it was one of the sensors a bit inside, but were giving intermittent beep if something was in the back.
  22. Is it Magnatec 5w-30 for Vauxhall meeting the requirements or is approved? Castro Edge 5w-30 is developed for VW, so that's why might be recommended, while Magnatec it might have that meets the requirements or something like that...
  23. Just an update, I changed the gearbox oil, it is shifting smoother(it was OK before too), but the noise is still there(I'm not sure if it is quieter or is just placebo). The oil was darker(but not black) and there was almost no metal bits coming out, so probably is still in good condition. Could it be indeed the release bearing? Anybody had a release bearing making noise when the clutch is not pressed and no noise when the clutch is pressed? I think I can hear it in 4th gear a bit, not sure on 5th as the road noise cover it, but is definitely there in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.No noise if I'm stationary and push the clutch pedal, noise if I'm not stationary and push the clutch pedal and is in gear, no noise if it's out of gear. And more noise on acceleration than deceleration.
  24. It might be the battery. The alarm is starting if there is a drop in voltage. That might trigger the second fault too.
  25. I think the EGR valve is in front and it is kept with 2 screws, probably you cleaned the throttle body? If you disconnect it might need to re-adapt it. You might try to clean the MAP sensor with some isopropanol.
