with a lot of thumping, i got the door open!!!! tried to undo the t20 torx to slide the blank lock cover to check the cable from the mechanism to the handle- but i havent the right screw diver - no success squited wd40 over all parts, & it seams to work. -then it locked up again and wouldnt reopen after lots of attempts and more thumps,i pushed the mechanism body from the inside, - towards the outside door skin, then on the next attempt to lock, it worked again do folks think , this could be the short cable is to tight? or i just have a dud mechanism?

thanks every one for you patience, i will have to go and try again, giving it a big thump? when i eventually it open i will check the cable between the handle & mechanism. does any one know , the seller on e bay wants to know is the coonector plug an 8 pin ? [ i have also tried to remove the electric plug with no success]

thanks a lot- may be it me being thick but i think mac 11 irl is meaninghe replaced the door handle to the central locking mechanism? i have only replaced the internat central locking mechanism & not the part that contect to the door handle itself pics 20 - 23 seem to show the micro switch [red & blue wires,] i cant get to them? or to the torx screw that releases the outside door mechanism sorry if i am missing something , i will read through again

just taken a look at your pics [ thanks ] but surely if the door is locked closed i cant get to the grommet to un do the torx screw to take off the handle

thanks, i didint fit the lock myself, how do i get to he outer door cable thread, i have stripped the door card out etc, can you get to this cable while it is locked/ sorry i am probably being thick

do you mean the bolts holding in the lock were to tight? [bolts on the door edge?], if so i cant get to them.

has anyone got any other idea , i have an 2002 octavia est - I have followed the thread -octavia 1 door-locked -deadlocked, by darrellg ,i have taken the door card off - cut away & got to the cog, turned it to the right all the way , then left, - no change! when i operate the central locking the button on the door goes up and down , but still deadlocked. this is a new lock i bought a few months ago, but only had it fitted 3 weeeks ago, it worked for a week! 2 nd problem mot is due! - problem 3 I am a disabled driver so need the car daily if i get it unlocked do folks recommend replacing it , or should it be ok? i have found these in stock http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151711923437?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true these are 8 pin? are they all 8 pin - has anybody used this firm?carparts direcy ilford or recommend another?

I have a 2002 oct estate elegance, the drivers seat has a wiring loom under the height adjuster, but i dont have any switches,there is a blank switch plate above that stereo, Does anyone know if the sysem is set up just missing the switch? How can i check it out?

have you had a windsreen fitted? I had a leak in the pssenger footwell, i solved , the trim below the windscreen wasnt fitted tight

Please can any one help, i have a problem with the number plate lights staying on [but i removed the bulbs] i have booked it in to an auto electricain tomorrow, but this afternoon while i was trying to change the passenger door central locking, the stereo switched off,it will switch on , But the car wont start!The dashboard board lights come on but there is just a click and the engine wont turn over. Has any one any i dea, i have plaecd the battery on charge[ but it has never been an issue , & started the car twice today] I would appreicate any help asap thanks jon

i tried the heater the other day, a reasobale amount of hot air was coming out, not had time try to take a look at the air flow motor,as some kind character stole some stuff from the car this weekend [mp3 player 30 gb & dab radio]- thanks again for your help jon

I have just tried as mustafa suggested, i can hear & feel a motor whir- [if i feel under the cover],but i could only occasionally hear a clicking sound. could it be that the motor is working but not moving the vent flaps, as i have had a louder clicking noise for a few weeks , when you start up. Last night while i was out and it was colder thatn day time, i put the heater up to max, but i only got warm air [ but the engine was hot] look forward to your comments

yes the temperature gets to 90 as quick as usual, the level, in the header bottle is in between the marks. is there a seperate fluid level bottle for heater/climate control

no i havent got a vagcom- where can you get one/ hire one? if i press the auto or econ, the fan speed does change

please has anybody got any i dea's I have an 02 octavia eleglance estate- with 115k on the clock. wih climate control, the last few weeks, i have been lots of cold air flow but very little warm or hot air blowing through [ even on a 25 mile run with the temperature turned right up] i even tried setting it at 23c with the out temperature showing 19/20c, it blew warm air for the whole journey,but the car didnt seem to change or reach 23c? i have read the threads about trying climate control- i pressed the button buttons - there was a beep then on the left came up 4FA, and 00 on the right-[ anyidea's what this means?] if it is the air vent motor needs replacement, how do you get to it? any help appreicated. thanks

hi i know this sounds daftbut how do you know of you need the whole kit? My front passenger side widow whirred twice , then a grinding noise, and would only power down. checked it today, and found a broken cable assbly in the inside the door card. did you find what you needed?
