  1. :wonder: How about Kelly Brook
  2. Haha..just removed the cashcow from my signature (whilst you were typing it seems!) The biggest single difference is that it's such an enjoyable experience driving the SM (even on a test drive), as has been said before the Yeti puts a smile on your face. The Qashqai is simply not a drivers car by a long way - you sit in it and drive it somewhere but do not expect it to be a satisfying experience. When I bought the QQ the Yeti was not around, had I tested them back to back it would have been the Yeti hands down. On a more practical front the Yeti provides far greater visibility all round - the QQ is quite claustrophobic in the back - more rear legroom in the Yeti too. The QQ has a marginally longer boot which I thought I wanted but actually never used. The QQ rear seats do not fold flat which can be a pain, unlike the SM of course!. Mine was a petrol engine 2.0 which was wonderfully smooth & quiet but actually a bit gutless. I am a member of the QQ forum also and the two diesels (renault sourced) were a constant source of concern - especially DPF issues. I think those issues may now be OK but Renault diesels (at least in the QQ) are not known for problem free motoring! In short if your want to enjoy your driving then it must be the Yeti assuming everything else such a space etc fits for you. If you sit in the 'happy with anything that gets me from A to B' pond then the QQ will serve you well. Hope that helps!
  3. There are useful changes here from my perspective - Needle sweep, fogs for coming home/leaving lights and the cruise control speed set if supported (which my SM might as it's a build week 4 so is likely to have latest firmware (I do not collect it until Tuesday)). Plus I live in North Kent so not too far for me travel down if you're up for it Gizmo?
  4. Chatham docks perchance? You'll be only a couple of miles away from me but alas you will not spot me as I'm not picking up my SM till Tuesday (11 plate ) I'll be on the road 90 mins before Andrew (HMIBennett) as picking up at 09:30
  5. Mattytun, I think this is the first time I've heard the DPF actually needing dealer regen. What type of driving do you generally do, I assume generally short trips but with any long blasts (before the light came on)? It could simply be a faulty component of course but it would be really handy to know if this is something we should start to look out for. Feedback from the dealer with regard to whether is is driving 'style' or faulty component would be gratefully received. Good luck!
  6. I only twigged this when I was speccing my Yeti. I'm going with the wheel arch protectors which cannot be fitted to SMs with park assist because it would cover the arch sensors. Fortunately i went with just front sensors (at SWMBO's insistence, plus I get the 'advanced' Bolero display!)
  7. Depends if the two sensors on the front wheel arches exist. I suspect TP noted that neither sensor is present and therefore correctly deduced it was front parking sensors only.
  8. Heated windscreen is £225 plus VAT = £270
  9. Excellent news, I hope some of your fortune rubs off on me. Call me sceptical but I suspect that the dealer is happy to hold on till 1st March because it increases their chances of a bumper month and thus a bung from Skoda rather than the philanthropic gesture they would have you believe, but what the hell good news all the same I'm not going to ring my dealer until at least the 19th - don't fancy tempting fate!
  10. Absolutely you do, but would you trust the same dealer to do the job right now if they haven't achieved it with the last two attempts :(
  11. Ahh, if only that would work I'd be on the first plane out of Gatwick to the north pole! I live not a million miles from Sheerness so I considered a one man blockade to stop the car being delivered to the dealer, sadly SWMBO decided against it If it does arrive a little early the only possibility may be that the dealer "might" want to pay the VAT difference if it means they get a bumper sales figure in March and thus guarantee their Skoda bonus - I can dream
  12. Indeed, although I hoped for some flexibility given the time of the year and its proximity to the new reg plate - it isn't a VAT requirement per se, it is that SUK wanted to stop dealers buying up loads of pre increase VAT cars and selling them on at the increased rate and effectively pocketing the difference I imagine. In any event, a royal pain in the bottom for those us receiving our cars now but wanting to wait a handful more days to get an 11 plate, we've waited 6 months already!
  13. I rang Skoda and there is no flexibility on the 10 day rule for the car to be registered after arriving at the dealer. So keep your fingers crossed that your car does not arrive at the dealer before 19th Feb or it'll have to be registered just before the 11 plates come in! I'm in exactly the same situation as you, I think our Yeti's are in Sheerness and sods law I bet they'll be at the dealer in the next couple of days so we'll have to 'make do' with 60 plate cars! It does look like you're in line for a £300 compensation claim (mine is going to be £150).

    engine choice

It should not all be down to fuel consumption. The OP may just find that he prefers the way the diesel CR units provide their power and torque. I will not do nearly enough miles to make my CR170 worthwhile if purely viewed from a fuel/cost perspective but I just much prefer the lazy way the diesel goes about it business. If you can only afford one of the cheaper petrols then fair enough but I think it would be folly to not even give one of the diesel units a try.

    mfd data

Presumably the poster wanted everything that came with the Elegance and didn't want to fork out the difference of an SE plus all the options which would come in far above the cost of an Elegance. So I would guess that the OP didn't actually "buy it', he simply is not too fussed in that particular element of the spec.
  16. Over £4000 discount? Are you sure, 17.5%? There must have been a catch, those going through DTD and getting £2500ish discount were getting their cars either at or slightly below cost. I cannot see any way any dealer could possibly support that level of discount. The VAT hold is SUK, nothing to do with the dealer holding the price although no doubt they were happy to take the credit. You must have had an angel looking over your shoulder!
  17. Got the hiring bit, just didn't understand the chalk and cheese comparison.
  18. Sorry, I'll forget any form of humour from now on. I rather though that was obvious from the
  19. Crikey, a thread that started on fuel additives and has turned into 'Wish you were here?'. Next stop Judith Chalmers!
  20. Nope, just spent 2 minutes of my life trying to decipher what the OP is getting at and failed. That's 2 minutes I will never see again.
  21. The ten day bit is insistence by Skoda to meet the commitment of 17.5% VAT rate.
  22. When I wrote that comment it was true, Skoda were only holding cars at 17.5% if purchased before the end of September. That then changed to cars bought before the end of December, I guess due to demand and people clearly being willing to wait.
  23. Great minds think alike Been having a good old think about what winters to apply to my steelies for next winter (SM arrives 1st March so too late to worry about this winter) and it looks like the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme's are the front runner. Decent value for 215/60's and decent reviews too  Unless the Dunlop 3d's drop in cost considerably that is. Just a question of waiting until the winter comes to an end and winter tyres drop to their lowest price point and then trying to pick up a set before you are unable to buy them again before next autumn and the prices rise again! Sorry, slight thread hijack, carry on again campers....
  24. I think you'll find the aerial on Yeti's built after November 8th are shorter than those prior to November 8th, so it may not be a problem at all.
  25. OK Mike, seeing as it's you we'll let you join the CR170 club
