I have had this problem and the culprit was the window motor. Change that and you should be sorted.

Just to add to this, if anyone is getting their cambelt changed, it is worth changing the water pump at the same time. Also, ask the garage to show you the old belt. You will then (a) be able to see how worn it looks for yourself and ( ensure that the garage have actually changed it.

I have roof rails and bars so use a roof mounted bike racks but i can reccomend Thule products. Been using them for years and i have found them to be well designed and constructed. Maybe a little more expensive than others but i would say they are worth it.

Hi All, My Roomster3 1.9TDI is now 4 years old. It has done about 38,000 miles so far. Looking at the service book im a little confused at what should be done in addition to the usual oil/filter stuff. Could someone please advise on what should be done? i.e. do i need to get the cambelt changed at 4 years? Thanks, Rob

In case anyone wants to know, the Thule roof bars and foot pack for Roomsters with roof rails already fitted is: - Foot Pack = Thule 757 Bars (square profile) = Thule 761

I have the arm rest but i dont use it either. It gets in the way (for me) when changing gear and isnt in a position when down where i would place my arm on the motorways anyway.

Final update. Dealer changed the central locking module and recoded the keys and that seems to have fixed the problem. I have to say Claybank Skoda (Manchester uk)service department have been excellent. I cant fault thm at all.

Quick update on this one: - Just spoke to the service manager at my local Skoda dealer. He didnt seem to have encountered this type of thing before and said i would have to take the car to them for them to have a look so they can diagnose whats wrong. Thats fair enough. I have booked the car in for next week so will see what they say. He did mention that if it turns out to be a wiring fault it wouldnt be covered under warranty (Skoda warranty has expired on my car as its older than 3 years but im still within the dealer 12month warranty).

Thanks for the advice. It does seem to be the microswitch as it locks the car as soon as the drivers door is opened (hence activating the switch). I will give the dealer a ring and see what they say.

Hi All, i have noticed that when i unlock the car (press unlock button on key fob twice), all the doors onlock, but as soon as i open the drivers door, the car locks all of the other doors again. I looked in the owners manual but cant find any mention of why the car would do this. Has this happened to anyone else? car is a 1.9 Roomster3

I had a look for the usual microswitch but there isnt one. The light must be activated via the two catches on either side of the door which move when you pull the handle. If nobody here has any suggestions i will ring the dealer and see what they say. Rob

I have noticed that the 'upper' glovebox of my Roomster gets really really hot inside when the engine is running (too hot to touch the inside!). Is this normal? The interior light in the main glovebox is on whenever the engine is running and i suspect this light is causing the heat. Anyone experienced this? Isnt the glovebox light supposed to be off until you actually open the glovebox? Rob

Hello, If you are paying cash, decide how much you are prepared to pay before you go to a showroom. Your escort will probally not be worth anything as a part exchange so it would simplify things if you dont offer it as part exchange at all. Each car and dealer is different but you should get at least a couple of hundred pounds off the screen price. Check when the next service is due on the car. If it is due ask how much it will cost. Factor this into the price you offer (the dealer will probally offer to service it for you as part of the deal). If buying from a Skoda dealer get them to chuck 1 years warranty in as part of the deal. Dont allow them to talk you into any finance offers. Only look at the car you went to view. The salesman will probally try to get you to buy another car (which will be more expensive). Do your research (on here is a good start) so you know what engine type/size, age, mileage, colour, specification etc etc roomster you would like (and afford) before you start. Hope that helps some

i agree, the fact that the rear blinds are in two halves doesnt bother me at all. In fact it means that if you want to remove them, they fit realy easily in the boot(you get a storage bag with the set) where as the one piece blind would be pretty big and although it would fit in the boot i would be worried about it getting damaged when not installed on the car.

i have just fitted a set of the shades from vanstyle (see link above). They are really well made and im happy with how they fit and the overall effect. It is now very difficult to see into the car even if you are standing next to it. Inside (looking out) the windows are noticeably darker and as the blinds for the tailgate are in two pieces you have a strip down the center of the tailgate window but it doesnt cause me any problems. My car doesnt have tinted windows but does have the glass roof. I think i paid about £80 for the set (tailgate window, rear side windows, 'porthole' windows) as vanstyle had a bank holiday offer on. Compaired to £66 for just the tailgate blind (skoda ones) i feel i got a great deal.

Im interested in the sun blinds too. Could anyone explain how they are fitted? i assume that you fix some clips to the window frame or something?

Personally i wouldnt do it. In my experience main dealers dont even service the cars properly anyway. They just stamp the book and give the car a wash. If i were you i would get my car serviced once a year by a specialist using OE parts (so that your warranty remains valid).

if your car is no longer under warranty i would go and see an indpendant car audio expert. they will be able to diagnose the problem and fit a better quality aerial if thats what is required.

Hi All, Does anyone use a boot liner in their Roomster? Skoda do one:Part Number: DMK770002 but at £45 its pretty expensive. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

I have been contemplating the same issue. I found the following in the accessories brochure. Part Number: DMK770005 £22.00. It looks to be the same item as in the ebay link above. I cant find anything better on the net so will probally get one too.

Hi All My Roomster just had its 1st ever MOT. It passed but there was an 'advisory' for 'Nearside and Offside lower bonded suspension unit deteriorated but can function as intended'. I think this means the suspension bushes. Has anyone managed to get these sorted by a dealer for free under warranty or do they count them as a consumable item and dont cover them?

thanks again for the input everyone. i have just put a deposit down on a 1.9D '3' spec with the panoramic roof. Looking forward to picking it up now. Its interesting what bohmer mentioned with regards to the air con. While i test drove this car i thought it wasnt great (but it was working). It may be that im used to better systems or that it required a gas refill. My car will be covered by the 1 year warranty anyway so if i find its not great once im used to the car i will take it back.
