Hi, I need to find a Skoda garage/servicer in Essex/East Herts. I am in Stansted (nr airport) and used to use Laser Skoda in Harlow. Now disappeared! Can't find anything local. There must be something (and preferably independent). Or am I best off using an independent VW specialist? Cheers.

Really need advice on this, as about to sell my Fabia 1.4 Comfort. Unfortunately the remote locking function stopped working a couple of weeks ago (changed batteries in both key fobs/ been through series of actions recommended on this forum) and now the immobiliser/alarm isn't coming on. As a buyer was viewing the car tonight, I locked it and the red light was flashing by the door lock. When she practised for herself, it didn't come on... and then I tried umpteen times, but the door light & dash light are not flashing, indicating that the immobilser is not active. This has postponed the sale (to an otherwise really keen buyer) until I can get it sorted, as its a key insurance issue. Does it need to be reset, along with key fobs or is it something I can redo myself? Would really appreciate advice on this. Cheers!

Any idea how much I could expect to pay to repair a broken rear windscreen washer? The wiper works fine but washer makes a noise liuke pump is working, but no water fed through. A local garage tells me that it is a pain in the arse to fix, as you have to remove roof lining and its a long job. Anybody have any experience of this? Or even an alternative solution? Cheers!

Fabia Comfort 8v 1.4- Timing belt or chain

Is this as expensive to have tightened as it would be to replace a cambelt? -

Fabia Comfort 8v 1.4- Timing belt or chain
Donkeyshed replied to Donkeyshed's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I read the following on another Skoda forum: The 16vs have a belt as all the diesel engines in fabia. The 8vs have chains (double) with no tensioners. The 12vs have chains (single) with hydraulic tensioners (2) Can anyone confirm this? -
Fabia Comfort 8v 1.4- Timing belt or chain
Donkeyshed posted a topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Having trouble confirming whether my 2001 Fabia Comfort 8v 1.4 has a timing belt (replaceable at 60k) or a chain. Looking through handbook & manual is inconclusive. Where would I find this info? Car has done 63k so need to know soon(ish). Any advice appreciated. Cheers. -
Could you forward me details of your 'ebay bloke' please? I'm having key fob problems so could do with checking this out. Cheers! email is: [email protected]

If you get any joy with this, please let me know as I have the same problem. There was a solution posted earlier, but it didn't work for a couple of us. Really want to avoid being ripped off my dealer for reprogramming... Link is here http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/159069-resetting-immobilisercentral-locking/

Resetting Immobiliser/central locking

Anyone? -
Recently disconnected the battery in my 2001 Fabia 1.4 Comfort for recharging. Since reconnection (as expected) the immobiliser/central locking is now inactive and I have to lock/open the car by key. Is there a way to reset this myself or do I have to visit a dealer? If its the latter, any idea how much this might cost? I am about to advertise the car for sale but would like the new owner to be able to use the central locking as I have been able to. Any advice gratefully received. Cheers, John.

Charging Battery- remove from car?
Donkeyshed replied to Donkeyshed's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Many thanks, guys. Now all charged and (hopefully) ready to go! -
Hi, the battery in my 2001 Fabia 1.4 Comfort is as dead as a doornail, having been left unused for six weeks (have new vehicle). I am now preparing to sell it, but I need to get it back up and running first! I tried to jump start it yesterday, but after 25 minutes charging, there was only enough charge to illuminate the dashboard controls briefly. I now have a 12V charger to do the job properly. However... The instructions for the charger state that I should remove the battery from the car before charging. But my Fabia manual says that if I disconnect the battery, I will lose the radio (don't know codes) and possibly electric windows. Furthermore, I have read that you MUST disconnect the battery to charge it (whether it stays in the car or not). So... what do I do? Clear I'm not a technician. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance John
