  1. No. the button on top of the door card has been removed completely. I have a feeling that I will have to replace that lock mechanism if I want to replace the lock button.
  2. I can certainly hear the cable doing something near the lock end. I will have a look to see if the cable is still attached but, I'm almost certain that it is.
  3. Hi guys. I repaired the window regulator on the wife's car yesterday and stupidly broke the door lock pin clean off. I thought that it really is not needed, so left it off as I could not figure out how to reinstall it. I replaced the door card making sure that the door cable release was hooked on and secured all the arm rest. The window now works fine. but the door will not open from inside the car. I can hear the cable pulling on the lock but that's all it does. The external handle works fine. Pulling the passenger side handle I can feel more resistance. Would you guys have any tips as to what may have gone wrong and how I can put this right. Thanks in advance.
  4. I have now had this part fitted by Fletcher Bros (Halifax). No more flickering lights . I would recommend this garage to anyone in West Yorkshire. They used to be a franchised dealer. I took the car in for an initial assessment where they gave it the once over and hooked it up to their vagcom. Total charge £ 0.00 . When I took it back a week later ( I was waiting for the angle sensor to come in the post ) , I was charged £ 37.50 for the fitting of the angle sensor, and £ 80.00 for them to supply and fit a coil spring. Finally a garage that I feel are going to do a good job for a reasonable price.......And friendly with it. Well done Fletcher Brothers.
  5. Thanks guys.... I've been qouted Coil spring £ 80.00 I think this is just one though... Lower bushes £110.00 Thermo housing £ 76.00 Water pump £150.00 Steering sensor £140.00 Suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet Or I could always scrap it
  6. For the following work to my wifes 1.4mpi....... Front coil spring replacement. 2 x Lower bushes replaced. Thermostat housing replacement. Water pump replacement. Steering angle sensor replacement. Any advice will be appreciated
  7. Sounds like the correct part. At £20.00 I've taken the plunge Just hope it solves my flickering light problem......
  8. Just been reading up on this and wondered if you guys think it's any good. Due to the age and mileage of the wife's fabia I am only eligible for the value package. What do you think ? http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/motoring/car-warranty-plan/policy-doc.jsp#sectiona
  9. My wifes 1.4 mpi Fabia has the following symptoms... Flickering headlights which coincides with a 'whirring' sound coming from the power steering pump. Also the steering seems very light for the first five/ten minutes of driving. It seems to settle down after this with no really noticeable flicker until the car comes to a stop at which point you hear the pas pump kicking in again. My questions are : Would replacing the steering angle sensor cure this ? Can you just replace the angle sensor, or would it have to go on a computer for re-setting ? I am not getting any warning lights on the dash. I hope you can help........
  10. Thanks for all the advice guys..... I think I'll look around for another door from a breakers yard. It'll be cheaper in the end as a good full door respray will cost £200 - £300 I think. I'm more gutted for the wife who is blaming herself for this mindless act.
  11. Thanks for that Darren. I'll check those sections now and post a couple of pics later.
  12. The wife had her old Fabia (2000) keyed by some mindless idiot last night when she left it in what she thought was a well lit, secure car park. She is absolutely gutted as the car is her pride and joy. Are there any products out there that would do a reasonable repair ? I have heard of a tape that you can apply over the scratch but I can't find any information on it. I can't justify or afford the cost of putting it into a bodyshop for repair.I have even thought of trying to source a cheap replacement door in the same colour from a breakers. Any tips for an easy repair would be appreciated.
