  1. Should have said after a smaller car as kids have now left home, but glad to hear it's not just me come to the end with skoda, I have had problems across the 3 years (more than any other car I have owned) plus a failed turbo and constant tech glitches, yes I have to agree the booming is a massive issue for me to, cannot believe in over 3 years of the car being out it still not really solved.
  2. I tried a 2 series active tourer, the dealer lent me on for 3 days and took it back after 1 day, fantastic inside but God did roll in the corners and I am only 5 ft 5 and found the BMW seats with very long base just made my legs hurt.
  3. well have decided not to get another skoda after having 4 in row, must admit my Mark 3 octavia has been the worse lots of problems. But really want a change and a new octavia is just the same as I have, the superb is to big and to much like the octavia inside, the rapid is just horrible don't like suv's. So that's it time to look somewhere else. looking at a Volvo v40 redesign lux 2.0 diesel and a Mazda 3 sport nav 2.2 diesel cannot make my mind up between the 2 as anyone out there had any experience of either of these ?
  4. Turns out it's the turbo actuator valve sensor, so a sensor no more than few pounds I would guess. Well no as skoda don't sell the sensor, oh ok so it going to have to be the valve then, ere no as they don't sell that either it's a complete turbo. A turbo just for a failed sensor absolutely unbelievable what are vw/ skoda playing at and to top it 2 months out of warranty. Not happy
  5. hi got this happening to my car this week, any one got any advise on what most likely the cause is ?
  6. dealer took car in yesterday for a deeper check and found faulty exhaust sensor, got to wait until Tuesday for it to be fixed. Until then I have a rapid 1.2 tsi S, well all I can say is what a bloody dreadful car it must be the worst thing I have driven in years. Any one thinking of getting one instead of an Octavia don't. if you want a cheap car get a dacia sandero it's no worse and much cheaper than the rapid or by a 2 year old Octavia 2.
  7. Keep getting glow plug light flashing, just comes on when driving, car drives perfectly flashes for about 10 mins then goes off. Also goes off if engine stopped and started. Its intermittent done it twice in 2 days, but not done it for 2 months, dealer has checked and doesn't seem to know what it is.
  8. It's a dry clutch, not a dry box.
  9. Oh the standard service only plan does also include the brake fluid at 2 years, so don't have to worry about that.
  10. You can cancel the service maintenance plan at anytime and you can start one in time upto the car being 1 year old or 10,000 miles. Why don't you change from maintenance to just service, that will half the cost of the plan and why do you need maintenance anyway ? Any defects etc will be covered be warranty, only extras covered are bulbs ( don't blow that's much and only cost a few pounds) wiper blades ( can be got off eBay for a tenner and you will on need one or two sets at most in 3 years) it also includes brakes, but you won't need in any in 3 years doing a total of 42k. My last Octavia I did 3 years and 62k ( ok I don't drive fast) and brakes had another 15k in them when I sold the car. My service plan is 3 years and 25k a year and I pay £22.00 a month.
  11. Had a call from the dealer today saying my 7 speed dsg box has a recall for an oil change, as anyone else heard about this?
  12. If you think the ride is poor try an Octavia 3 is so hard and crashes over bumps. But the Octavia does handle much better, falter and feels so much more planted and solid.
  13. Sorry didn't mean to offend about the plastics, they just seem a bit low rent after being used to an octave 3 elegance.
  14. Seems good on all roads , car is a 14 plate and only done 1000 miles.
  15. That's dreadful can anything be done, as not know any other car to suffer this is such a short space of time.
  16. My Aunt has a Fabia 1.2 tsi and suffers from a lot of brake noise when car has stood for a day plus, I guess it's just rust forming on the discs. But it seems to happen a lot and doesn't ever go away. Car has done less than 10k and all breaks appear fine. Is this a common problem on Fabias ?
  17. I find it much about the same, but I have gone from a Manual to a dsg.
  18. My car is In the dealers for 2 days while they fix my bumper they scratched at the last service. Well been lent a 1.6 tdi elegance Rapid and must say very impressed only down side is stearing is to light and lacks feed back and some plastics are hard and cheap. But drives well and no boom from the boot, less road noise, no trim rattles, and much softer ride ( as I find the Octavia just to firm at times) but on the whole not as well finished as an Octavia or as well equipped and handles worse. but the suspension is so much more comfortable around town and much quieter in general. Also car seems to be screwed together better, be it with cheap and nasty plastics.

  20. Any one know when the cam belt should be changed on the 1.6TDi, had a few people say 4 years, some 5 and some 6.
  21. Took a service plan out on mine for variable, doing 25k a year for 3 years and costs me £22 a month, which I don't think is bad.
  22. Sprayed with grease, what grease can you spray ? Sounds more like sprayed with wd40 which will have been washed away in a week. Have they never heard of silicon grease, great stuff and very resistant to heat and water, but is expensive so I guess that's why they don't use it.
  23. I had an Octavia 2 for 3 years and loved it. Then It came to replace it, tried a superb for a few days and only problem found it a bit big for my needs. So went for Octavia 3, like you I do about 20k a year and drive with comfort and economy first. I so wish I had gone for the superb the Octavia feels almost as big and the ride is just to firm and noisey also don't think the build is a good, yes I have new tech but none of it is anything that special just looks nicer and most of it is very buggy. Oh and Bluetooth phone kit is better in the superb. So I will spend the next 2.5 years wishing I had a superb.
  24. Yes that confirms it I sold it to cheap and I am not just saying it the car was mint not a mark on it
