  1. Hello people, I've got a sticky throttle pedal. The car just idles a little to high, around 1100rpm. But it drops when I pull the pedal up with my foot. I've done a search and some people have lubricated it as a temporary fix. But the posts didn't say exactly where they sprayed the lubricant? http://www.briskoda...._1#entry2287739 Do I need to take the cover off? Or can I just spray over the cover? I don't have the cash for a new pedal right now, and the fast idle is irritating when braking! Cheers...
  2. I've got a set of Ziex 912's, they replaced my Uniroyal Rainsport 2's, not had a problem with the Falkens if anything they have a stronger sidewall then the Rainsports. But the Rainsports absolutely blew the Falken 912's away in terms of wet grip! My vote - Uniroyal Rainsport 2's
  3. Had my mirror glass kindly knocked out the other morning.... Called around a few local breakers who only sell the complete mirror, I only need the glass... Dealers retail for £35! Called up Sandburns, and they've got new tinted (Golf mk4) glass in stock £15+VAT a piece - Win! So if you need anything, give them a ring, very helpful chaps!
  4. I meant if the battery was disconnected for that amount of time, would the alarm go off if the backup battery drained? I did want to leave the car unlocked to ensure that the alarm didn't end up going off....
  5. Would there be any implications with the alarm by disconnecting the battery? I only ask as I will be storing mine in a relatives garage for over 6 months later this year....
  6. I thought that those bulbs that said XXXXK meant that they were for use with HID ballasts?! Am I wrong, can they just be plugged into standard headlights?
  7. Really sorry to hear about that... From the pictures it seems like all you need is windows, to get the car into a drive-able condition. The dents also look small maybe they could be filled and painted? You could probably get the glass from any scrappie.... Hope that helps, and the scumbags that did it get what they deserve....
  8. Ouch sorry to hear that. I just replaced mine as the plastic was cracking, the lever was about £5 from TPS if anyone's interested...
  9. This is a long shot - I do remember someone on here, claiming to work at the factory where the cars were produced. Saying that some of the wires underneath the steering were faulty..... Might be worth getting a decent techie to have a look for any broken wires?
  10. I like what you've done there! Do agree with Leon-y-k on the missing something though, maybe it's the lack of badge on the front.... P.s - what a bargain!!
  11. Welcome! Get some pics up of your motors!
  12. That's horrible. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully things work out for you.
  13. Glad I could help Yeah the Weitecs are fine there is a slight knock here and there, mainly coming off/onto bumps. It's not loud, and been ok'd by Ally @ Unit 18, suspected top mounts (which if changed will still make the same noise). Other than that they're fine. Probably just what you need if you're after a more comfortable set up.... Let us know what you find.....
  14. Before you buy AP's have a look at this thread . Makes for some interesting reading and swayed me towards the Weitec Hicon GT kit. If I would do it again, I'd go for KW v1s. The Weitecs just seem a little too soft for me, they do bounce a bit more than I would have expected. But a vast improvement over the standard stilts! P.s I purchased mine from DPM - I would definitely buy from them again, Dan was very helpful.
  15. Sounds like no one was hurt, which is what's important. Like you said, it's only money. I think Uniroyals are quite soft. Fantastic grip, but weak. I've just changed my front two as I ruined one of them on a kerb :S Replaced them with Falken 912's. They seem to be more tougher than the Rainsport 2's. More noisier though. Cheapest Rainsports I've found for the Fabia size are here - they are V rated. These are W rated, a bit more expensive though. HTH
  16. You should give Adrian Flux a ring. I'm with them on a modified policy, (21, 2 years NCB no accidents). I can do pretty much anything to the car as long as it doesn't increase the performance and it won't cost me anymore! So 312mm brakes & coilovers didn't increase the premium. Brentacre are also good, but AF were that little bit cheaper - both companies know their roll cages from their anti roll bars too! It's probably worth trying the other site sponsors too - Sky insurance and Chris Knott. Good luck!
  17. You should definitely get one!! Like you said you've worked hard for 30 years, you deserve it.... Stop over thinking things and just go get one. I've gotta agree with you too - they look great in yellow (when they're clean). I almost got one, but the running costs stopped me . You don't need a bigger boot - dogs like walking
  18. Leon Cupra R - I love them.....then I'd sell it after a week 'cause I couldn't afford to run it....
  19. The wheels look really good! I think the common favourite uprated bulb is the Philips Xtreme Power +80%... I've had my set for a year and I'm still enjoying them.... The blackend headlights will look great.... definately go for it.
  20. Another vote for the Philips X-treme Power 80% bulbs, had them on my Fabia 2 weeks short of a year and had no problems. Just crisp white light
  21. Very nice! Met Chris & Phil at DC09.... Don't think you were around, Chris pointed out your motor though. What coilovers have you got? Great pics btw - where were they taken?
  22. Didn't the pre 2006 fabia's have bolts rather than rivets?
  23. Seconded. I've just been on the phone to them, they're very good and know their roll cages from their anti roll bars Also try Adrian flux they were very helpful too I spoke to Paul. They were the cheapest for me.
  24. Ouch! Sorry to see that mate. hope you get it fixed soon! Sent you a pm...
