  1. Thanks for the part numbers - has enabled me to speak to my local dearler and order the parts I need. I sheared off the bolt part of the t-shaped thingy when I was putting a new battery in. Oops! This Briskoda forum is soooo useful. Thanks!
  2. Nice work. Where did you get the additional Pipercross breather pipe filter? I'd be interested to see your pics after you do your cold air feed solution. Cheers Ian
  3. Thanks Peter. Late acknoweledgement I know but... I ended up buying a used Dell Bluetooth GPS receiver with Navteq maps from eBay for about
  4. Thanks tazy7, Lummox and DGW. I'll keep an eye on the level and for any spots of fluid on the drive. So far (9 days on) the warning lamp has not lit. Nor have I lost power steering:)
  5. My PC speakers are so poor I can't make out the comments they make. Any subtitles?
  6. Just found the answer to the sensor location. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/466239-post4.html Also other threads say the power steering reservoir is under the battery. Handy location or what? Sorry to do a wasteful post - Did a search a few days ago and didn't get nearly as many relevant threads as I did just now.
  7. Whereabouts is the sensor on a year 2000 Fabia 16V? Can I clean the electrical contact etc? If I can see the power steering reservoir I will check the level and top up if needed. I have the symptom where this warning lamp now is lit. Steering is unimaginably heavy and I fear to drive it. Garage says they need to plug it in to diagnose and whether it is the sensor or the pump or otherwise it will be a few days before they can fix. What can I do in the mean time.
  8. I selected a Dell Axim X30 that has BT and Wireless 802.11b. Great for contacts, appointments and playing movies that I have grabbed and shrunk! Cost about
  9. I didn't even notice that. Doh!. Its going to be a sure fire win for the single entry "teams" then. Honda, Smart and Fiat at this time. Or is it that those candidates are more appealing?
  10. Yahoo is holding a vote in... http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/motorshow/frankfurt/miss-iaa/index.html The Skoda rep is my fave! Currently only 9th  Lol. Some nice pics too: http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/motorshow/frankfurt/pictures/skoda.html
  11. Glad to hear you managed your install to your satisfaction. Some pics would be great to see.!
  12. I bought some Second hand 15" VW Golf TDI alloys which came with tyres 195x65R15. With some new rubber sized 195/50R15 they fit sweet!
  13. They do not have to do much spot checking just follow their noses!
  14. IIRC = If I recall correctly.!
  15. Hi Grant' date=' Visited the Car Maintenance Bible - [url']http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/[/url] He has a Wheel and tyre bible http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/tyre_bible.html This page lets you input values of the old and new wheel / tyre sizes which show whether the rolling radius and circumference will be similar. I have captured on a Word doc the pertinent calcs for your current and prospective new wheel size/tyre size. The upshot is that the tyres your mate has for sale are a much higher circumference and will cause your speedo to under-read by 10%. Not good for avoiding speed camera penalties. Wheel calc.doc
  16. Exactly what I thought. If crimes, however petty, go unreported, how do the police justify existing staffing levels? Nevermind seeking extra manpower! I worry, even if the offenders are just youths or whether it is drunken behaviour, what other offences could be committed by such people.
  17. Yes Jason, It does unscrew. I'll pop into the shops to get a price for a pair of replacements and peruse eBay.
