  1. Found out what was causing it, it’s a setting called learn, it was on. once I turned it off no more distortion.
  2. I’ve got a 06 octy with a stream (non mp3), and a changer in the boot. I’ve been trying to use an FM Bluetooth gadget, tried 2, both when it’s a quiet piece of music or when not playing anything exhibit a faint pop/tap noise every 5 secs approx. When playing music this distorts the music as well. I understand there is a firmware update available but I’m guessing the dealer won’t do it for free now. Has anyone got a copy of it? I’m guessing it’s just a CD.
  3. but this time of year does not require ac and will just waste fuel. on our old 03 seats we always ran during the winter with AC turned off on the climate control.
  4. im not totally new to VAG cars and owned various SEAT's, but the Octavia is doing some strange stuff. when I first drive off in the morning the climatronic is running the heater fan at the mid position according to the lights on the dial. this mean I have a rather cold drft blowing round my head until the engine warms up. this behaviour is not what the other cars have done in the past. normally the fans stays low until some heat starts getting into the engine then it pics up speed. ive got the system set to auto and econ mode enabled to inhibit the broken AC. there are no error codes in the clima ecu. the only other strange thing is once the interior heater is blowing hot air and the fan starts slowing down, I get a weird damper shuffling noise that starts almost the same time driven (so maybe temp related) and lasts for maybe 2-3 minutes. its almost like a damper is stuck or not moving so it repeats the move request.
  5. been out to have a look and its pretty bad. the one that doesn't have a cover over it has 2 split jet mounts and the other one has a whole jet missing. so to repair I might be able to take a jet out of the split one and put it in the missing one. then buy a new assembly and cover for the side that's split. are they relatively cheap?
  6. Need to double check but pretty sure I have a 20A in position 34 not assigned. When I remove it I can hear a relay under the dash click.
  7. tried them tonight and they work now. but one side is missing it’s cover so when it operates washer fluid shoots up instead of at the headlight. does the cover have a deflector on it to angle the jet at the headlight? anyone know where I can get a cover? Seen some on eBay but some reviews say they are crap.
  8. To answer Theclient. I have recently bought the car and I'm finding quiet a few things have been fiddled with. Like the parking sensors that didn't work due to a misplaced fuse. So hence why I'm making sure nothing else is a miss. Which is difficult when the manual is back to front and also seems to contradict actual fuses.
  9. No but I like everything to work regardless of how old it is.
  10. To answer vrsburnzy. Yes with the wheels free floating without any weight on them. Next time my A3 is on the ramp I'll check it and see if it's the same. As it had electromechanical.
  11. How do the temp sensors normally fail? Do they read totally wrong?
  12. ill try logging it. I just thought if the stat was bad the temp would drop at speed, had this before when stat was stuck open. can you have a partially open stat?
  13. round at my mechanics and whilst it was on the ramp for some work he noticed it very difficult to turn the front wheels left or right, as if the rack is partially seized. also maybe connected ive just had 4 wheel alignment and its weird. I had a seized camber adjuster on the passenger side that we freed off. when I went back and had the alignment check and adjusted again they print out a before and after. on the first occasion both front wheels were tracking too far to the left after adjustment spot on, according to there print out. second time shows the front wheels tracking too far to the right after spot on. whats going on surely the rear camber wouldn't throw the front alignment?
  14. see how you go. ive had similar issues on 2 ASV seats. both times the header tank would pressurise from cold, test by releasing pressure when cold then start rev a bit then while the engine is still cold see if its pressurised. if it is the heads leaking gasses into the coolant.
  15. ill have a look for metal in the holes. good tip. the manual is reversed guessing printed for European left handers. I removed a 20A which says not used in the manual but heard a click under the dash so put it back. then noticed a load of errors for the central electronics or something. so im guessing the manual might be a bit off.
