This doesn't keep me awake at night, but... If the tailgate electrics fail (or some other fault), can it still be closed manually? Or do I have to employ a security guard to watch over the car until I can get a transporter to bring it to a garage?

Hello all, After my 16yr old Octavia Estate met a unwarranted sad end at the hands of a hit and run driver (while parked outside my house), I've now moved on to a considerably newer Superb MY17 Estate. It's a much nicer looking thing dressed in Jungle green with the executive trim set of toys. As me, it's new second owner, I'm keen to keep it on the road for as long as possible. And keep paintwork sparkling and the toys working. Spent £40 so far on two plastic buckets, grid guards, sponges and, er, yeah - it's something I rarely did on the last car, will see how far I will keep on with that! So I'm back a long break from Briskoda. I'm an non-executive IT engineer, mad on tinkering with electronics, programming and enjoying driving.

Hi, I've got an '04 Octavia estate TDI 90bhp. Been quoted £490 inclusive for a cambelt change operation, which is a bit of a bite out of my pocket at the moment. Anywhere around NW London that can do me a reliable job? What's the going rate / workshop time? Thanks

For those of you who have looked, how much space is there behind the unit? Could the radio be pushed back into the dashboard so I could disguise it with something like the front of a crappier unit? Any difference if mounted in the bay below (where the storage tray is?) Thanks Adrian

OK, thanks :-) No light, so something's potentially up. Like what? I'm thinking of getting to grips now with vag-com to find what it is. Something I expect the dealer would do first anyway (and make a charge for the diagnosis?) -- Adrian C

Just started driving this Octavia I TDi Estate Ambiente '04 plate. It starts OK but I don't see a Glow Plug warning light when starting from cold, and reading the owner's manual this could be a fault involving a trip to the dealer? Exactly where is it on the dashboard display please? There is no picture of its location in the manual. Thanks Adrian
