The heated windscreen takes alot longer to clear the drivers side in my 2015 Octavia VRS Estate. Can it be repaired or will it need a new windscreen? Any ideas on cost?

I asked Skoda Uk if a change to rear lights being on when DRLs are on and they said the warranty would be adversely affected, but wouldn't elaborate. Decided to wait til the warranty expires.

The quote I had was about £800 for front (bumpers, bonnet, side panels), £3k for the whole car. Guy did a demo, he used a small wire brush to create scratches, then poured hot water over it. Scratches disappeared. Impressive. I've since seen video product called Xpel which is apparently the best.

Has anyone had protection film applied to their paintwork? Two years ago I opted for ceramic coating as it was half the price. Made cleaning the car very easy but with plenty of motorway driving picked up a few stone chips. Think I'll opt for the film next time and build it into the overall cost. Would be interested to hear if anyone has experience of it.

The Columbus telephone function provides a call list on the dashboard display but I would rather have the contacts list so I can scroll to any number and not just the ones I've called previously. Is it possible to change it? I do have voice control but invariably when I say any name it asks if I want to "call Dave" !

Yes I'm logging it all and reporting it to Allams. No error codes were seen by them, battery seems ok, starts easily.

Strange things continue.....following my original note, the car was returned to me with the message "we cannot find any fault." Since then the central locking has shut off/on whilst driving at about 30mph and the lane correction light (orange) OFF has come on at 70mph and then having exited the motorway it switched to (green) ON at 30mph. very unnerving.

That's interesting imikk3. Dealer said that they did all the tests they could think of and had spoken to Skoda UK so maybe they had to wait for them to get back. When they handed the car back the file looked pretty thick! Anyway, now I'm crossing my fingers every time I get in it.

My clay bar has finally met its match. Cannot remove masonry paint from black trim.

No previous problems. Actually I noticed other posts about stop/start but had never had a problem as I was careful with brake pressure so could keep the car running rather than make it stop when I wanted to. Funny enough since getting the car back I've turned off stop/start not really sure why, but I did wonder if it might have had something to do with the stoppage. Not sure why it wouldn't re-start straight away though. Thanks for comments, will update if any more problems.

Sorry didn't explain very well. It's the fixed window (estate) behind the rear side window.

after drying the car when washed there is a dirty streak that forms running down from the rear window rubber all the way down the paintwork. It's annoying. Any ideas how I can stop it as I don't want to have to lever up the rubber to get a towel under it.

Hi Warrior, engine didn't turn over at all. It's DSG so I can't stall it. Probably doing about 10mph as I got onto the roundabout then engine just stopped. got the car back from Allams after 4 days of inspection. Couldn't replicate any of the faults, couldn't find any faults at all so have given me back the car. Disconcerting to say the least. Trusting it for now but another serious incident may make me think seriously about changing it.

If it's nearer you Warrior I would stay there as long as you can. Barry I thought was excellent but you probably already know that.

That's what I'm calling Putney, sorry not my area. Used to be HL Austin. Great service, but once they became primarily Honda their Skoda service was down graded and they subbed work out to Allams. On that basis I decided to go to Allams direct as its nearer me.

Totally understand Warrior193, service very mixed. Would point out though Russell is good, as is Sarah who always follows up quickly after a visit and gets things fixed for me. Used to have cars serviced at Putney but now a Honda dealer so service is limited. Not much choice left.

On a roundabout yesterday when engine just stopped. Chaos. Tried a few times to restart, lights came on but nothing happened. Guy stopped to give me a tow and when I tried one more time it started. No engine mgmnt light, all seemed normal. No further problems after 60 miles. Trying to get it booked in for a check. Anyone else suffered?

When my house was painted some of it blew onto my wife's Fabia. Tried tar remover which had no effect. I read about clay bar and bought a kit. Amazing. Took off the masonry paint, tar spots and other stains leaving a smooth finish. Added polish and got a great looking result. First use of a clay bar and highly recommended if anyone is thinking about using one.

My estate has a sunroof. A small but irritating vibration noise comes from somewhere above the headlining. With a gentle push upwards the noise disappears for a while. I was thinking of spraying some WD40 in the gap between the headlining and sunroof aperture but I'm worried it might cause a stain. Does anyone know of a similar product that might get rid of the vibration without marking the headline area?

Thinking about getting a private number plate. I like the idea of not dating the car, rather than specific initials. Is there any reason to pay more than the basic price and is DVLA the best place to buy from?

I've got a moon White VRS estate that looks great when it's clean, but the rear gets dirty very quickly. Sometimes I could do with washing just the rear sections, but having got out the buckets etc end up washing the whole car. I was thinking about getting a waterless product, so I could just wash the rear sections to keep those looking clean like the rest of the car. I was thinking of getting Maguiars. Any opinions or other recommendation?

I asked the dealer to do it who refused. So I spoke to Skoda UK who said no too and that it'll affect the warranty. I'll wait til it's out of warranty.

I've had 2 Octavia Elegances and had back pain in both, so was nervous about a VRS, but had no problems. Much more comfortable than the standard seats.
