  1. Nice vRS, And yer I reckon thats a Delta tucked away in there nicely
  2. I think am the only one that thinks this sounds a little dodgy and sounds like they have done it to try and get a few quid out of ya! If we take the fault itself, the simple fact is they have not fixed it. If the egr isnt working correctly its likely you will fail on emissions which means you have a car currently that wont pass an mot! Pretty much useless. It also seems intresting that the chief mechanic basically takes it out and gives it a thrashing for what would serve no bennifit what so ever to the cars actual fault. Surely he would take the car for a drive if he could find the fault and wanted to experince first hand the cars symptoms? But the fault was already confirmed. How removing a remap will help "fix" the problem is beyond me?? (not that am that intelligent with these things) And so they remove the remap, try and get you to buy one of there own so you have the power back. But was advised to remove it to fix the fault??? and its still BROKEN??? :| And even if you would challenge it, they know they can say well it wasnt advertised as having a remap so techically youve not lost anything!? Am sorry mate but they sound like a bunch of money grabbing twonks!! I reckon you should rinse them for every warranted repair bill going. And if you want some more power take it to a reputable remapper. I know people may think am missing something here but I just think its all abit suspect! Your not ungrateful mate, there just trying to rinse some cash off ya form the sound of things!!!
  3. Really hard to say mate, ill be having coilovers fitted shortly am not looking for a "deck it on its ass" look. For the same reason its a daily driver. But it should improve the ride comfort and the handling a great deal. I really couldnt see the point in keeping a standard ride height with a stiffer feel? If your looking to firm up the ride, I assume your looking for improved handling? Really by reducing the ride height and the cars centre of gravity will improve it. If your looking for a good set up with an OEM look and ride. It might be worth looking at Pre Set Fixed Suspension aftermarket kits. DPM have loads. Vogtland, Eibach Etc..... That really would be the way to go buddy
  4. I think my eyes and my mind are going crazy. In the middle of the night, driving like a mad man, with NO BRAKES!!!, Going to a party were his probs had a tiple or 2? and doing 70 while taking pictures on his PHONE??? :| Mate??? Why??? Will it take you being in a body bag or you putting someone in a bodybag to get a slap of realism. I understand 100% that mechanical faults can occur regardless of how your driving or what your doing. But to actually CARRY ON DRIVING??! :S surely that must be a wind up?
  5. Came very very close to selling mine, and I couldnt after i got it fixed, fell in love with it all over again. Quiet simply an awesome machine. I also (because am young) have other young drivers who comment on my granny car etc.. etc... and I couldnt give a 5hit I dont even give them the pleasure of a drive out in it, its there loss. But for the people who actually know something about cars you get a very respectful nod of appreciation Love mine to bits!
  6. If there was a thank you tab i would give you some rep. Your a legend thanks buddy all connected back up. I know what you mean I think I would struggle to explain how to do it. Quiet a strange way of holding in pipework. It had worked its way so loose you could see the metal collar of the pipe. I reckon ill be looking for some hard metal replacment pipe work.. Regardless your a star huxley thanks a million
  7. I was looking for a new clutch and flywheel and it seems awesome has developed a single mass flywheel and uprated clutch kit. It seems good value, has anyone fitted one of these yet
  8. Infact If you click on this thread and roll down to post number 4 with the diagram http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=282809 The pipe that is offline is number 23
  9. Hello Peeps, Nipped out to my local tescos and noticed and unwanted dump valve noise and what sounded like an air leak. Got home popped open the bonnet and it seems as if the pipe from the agr to the smic has come loose, smic nearest side. My questions is how do I remove the pipe for a clean and refit? Am rather baffled by the fittings ive checked the search button and no real results...or is it idiot prooof Many thanks for any support. Regards Rich
  10. I think your best option is to drive one mate. Some people will know on here I came very very close to getting rid of mine. In the end, I couldnt do it. For me this has to be one of the best packages a car has ever been. The overall drive of the thing is second to know, with great steering, lovely gearbox and although body roll is present, the car is very easy to drive slow and fast. Economy is incredible I do around 10miles to work and thats alot of stop start and Im still getting more mpg than my old 1.4TDi sport. I regulary get over 50mpg all day long. Not to mention cheap tax and cheap insurance. The KKK turbos arnt indeed the best units available so I would recommend setting aside a few £££ just in case it did let go. But ignore the comments in regards to clutchs and flywheels, there certainly not as weak as people make out they are. Drive the car sympathetically even with a remap and you should be fine. The life of these components is no great deal shorter than any other car, so as you would with any car again set a few £££ a side for that future job. Leaky doors are very common but an easy fix. Most concerns people have for there cars they usually modify there way out of them. So for me the brakes although adequte I wanted a change, and the body roll can easily be corrected with a good suspension set up and polybushes and a few braces and bars. If you want to be put off buying one of these cars, simply read through peoples horror stories of fire and woe. But rember people are more easily going to share a negative experince than a postive. Plus any car forum you go on, I assure you plowing through thread after thread of these stories will put you off any car in time. For what its worth not because am biased, I think you will love it, and like me when push comes to shove and your in a situation when you can get rid of it, again like me you wont. O yer and they go like s*** off a shovel :p
  11. If only I had the money I would have had these they look great!
  12. After speaking to many mechanics and experts, they have always said never underestimate the importance of letting the car tick down after ANY RUN! And let the car idle. This is espically important with a turbocharged car. For example letting the car idle down is a great way of letting the turbo naturally spin down and cool. A great habbit to get into.
  13. Well thats it ladys and gentlemen the hunt is over, Ive purchased my car, should hopefully be picking her up on sunday. O and am as happy as a pig in s*** Once again thank you all for your support, and from the pm's recived wishing me good luck, just goes to show what a top bunch of people are on brisky  You might see me nosing around tho some pictures for the haters and the lovers
  14. My thread seems to have been hijacked by talk of a toyota corrola
  15. Thanks for peoples concerns but...... I dont need any recommendations I couldnt care if its a hyundai last time I checked I owned a skoda.......... Im not into badge snobbery. Alot of people who have comments to make about the coupe usually havent driven one Looks are in the eye of the beholder and I think the gen3.5 and the siii are stunning and no one can convience me otherwise. In regards to how they drive, there very comfortable, lovely handling, postive steering, wonderful interiors with plenty of space and luxurys, brakes are good, gearbox is a GEM! Good build quality, In regards to the old story of power. My mate had a dark blue 2.0 gen3.5 with a few choice bolt on modifications and I certainly wouldnt call it slow........ The fact it would keep up with CTR's all day long. But have more low down grunt than the CTR, I dont drive fast, im careful and I occasionaly I have a B Road blast. But most of the time I take things steady and enjoy the drive. In regards to the v6 being underpowered I will only say "lol" research the potential of these engines standard and modded before people start slating them. Not that now ill be getting a V6 because ive found a stunning 2.0. As well as that I know 5 people who have owned a hyundai coupe and surprise, surprise they all loved them :p Your criticism's will fall on deaf ears, I cant wait to have one on my drive
  16. I 100% agree with you, the corrola is the ulitmate sleeper but it doesnt stir my porridge Anyhoo after a whole day with my old man, looking at some RIGHT LEMONS!! I was starting to lose hope, the last one on the list was in mansfield and its safe to say I was feeling abit deppresed all the ones I had looked at were bad examples. As we parked up I began to walk up to it, "THATS BETTER!" I said to my dad. It was stunning! The car needs some paint correction as there is some swirls on it, a very small 1p ding near the drivers handle, but other than that its imaculate. The interior also was spotless including no wear on the drivers right side leather bolster. Took it for a spind and again mechanically sound as a pound. With a surprising amount of low end grunt. Plus it will take me some time getting used to a high revving petrol. One small downside if you can call it a downside its the 2.0 not the v6, but after pottling along in it, I dont think that really matters. Trying to haggle in for a new cambelt and waterpump, cars just covered 45k+ so want to make sure its in tip top shape. Its also got new tyres all around and a good lenghty service. already got plans for modifying it
  17. Well bit gutted went down in the cold with my old man to have a look at *on face value* appeared to be a tidy example. Turned out to be a right melon. The salesmen insulted me by explaining "Its one of the nicest examples!" I asked him out right "if he was taking the Pi55!" Still on the hunt :(
  18. depends on how the cars been treated I would rather have 50k miles of mechanical sympothy and regular services. Rather than 10K of hard ragging not getting serviced and limited mechanical sympothy,
  19. Yer ive always like the FTO, I still maintain its one of the best looking cars ever. I think what did put me off was lack of torque (which am used to) and the insurance was rather high. Plus I dont really thrash my cars at all, I get more pleasure looking after them and just taking life easy  Another bennifit of the v6 is its got nice amounts of smooth torque that holds nicely through the rev range AND ill also have a torque gauge which shows me how much torque the car is producing im sad I know........
  20. Your possibly right mate I might, but my turbo went pop the other day for no reason what so ever, it just let go. For the cost of putting a good replacment turbo on its not worth it, as well as that its still running standard clutch n flywheel. So that will be another 1k+ at some point. I do love the car, but I dont think I love her that much to warrant nearly 2-3k on repair or uprating bills. Well as for my next car being 22 I wouldnt mind something like a coupe or a convertable. My friends baught a convertable and I loved the whole bum on the floor thing. Soooooooo been looking at. Toyota Celica, MR2 Hyundai Coupe Mitsubishi FTO etc,,,, At the moment am leaning towards the Hyundai, they look the part, are well equipped, good build quality, lovely to drive and from what ive read pretty reliable to. Would be looking at getting the 2.7 V6 which although not the most powerful thing on earth, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, it sounds lovely. And the insurance is cheaper than all the other cars ive looked at. £100 a year more than my skoda. I know some people will slate the hyundai, but I can live with the haters Plus :p What a naughty man revving it from what appears to be cold O an that one
