Hi all and thank's for your interest in my post, I own a Skoda Superb Elegance 1.9 TDi PD 130 BPH, registered July 2005, 79 000 miles. I wonder if you guys can help. I have some oil leak/spray under/around the Integrated EGR/ASV valve(just under the mushroom like top) and how serious it is.The engine seems to run normal. Do I need to take it to a garage or I could change/clean it myself? Skoda garage in Somerset wants £270 to replace it inc part and labour. Many thanks in advance!! Adi

That's what I was thinking while I was removing the old one. From what I could see there is access to the wires from the top of it(or the bit that sticks in the bumper). I will have a go later on see if I can do some more damage...

Got it replaced and working fine! But did cost me £80(sensor itself)... :thumbdwn: Any way, yes it's not hard to access, just remove the cover and then you get better access to the sensor, when removing the sensor, make sure you don't loose the rubber ring, it stops the water and dirt getting into it and around it. A lot of people seem to have the same same sensor failing, I think I have the answer to that, WATER. The wire and connector to the sensor I just replaced was quite dump and the small undertray that needs to be removed for easy access to the rear righ sensor also had water on it. I tried to stop the water getting to the sensor buy stuffing the inside of the bumper(which is shallow) with bubble wrap. I would also consider dressing the connectors and the bit of the sensor that sticks insider the bumber, I used some small plastic bags. Anything is worth trying, remember, those sensors are £80/each and if you have a good look there is a lot of room under that bumper that could let water go straight to the sensors, all it takes it's a few puddles. Many thanks to all of those that help me with this post!! Best of luck! P.S. No need to take the whole bumper down to replace any of the sensors.

O.K. I've done it, went to Skoda Stealer and got a sensor. They said that they have all the same part number(really?), I thought side ones have a different part number to the middle ones. I will try fit it tonight(I work nights..) or tomorrow. It did cost just over £79 inc. VAT, not £88 inc. VAT as they told me over the phone. Fingers crossed ..

All these sensors failing and we blame the sensors, how do we know it's not the unit that burns the sensors out? I mean, is anyone here that had a Superb with factory fitted sensors that never had a problem with the parking sensors?

Not being funny but 5 in 2 years...at £80...buy a new bumper inc. spraying the God damn thing!!

What "Short to Ground " means? is it a wire or the sensor is gone?

I found my OBD II interface that I tried using on my Passat, and got it all working on my Rock laptop with Vista installed, all I need to do is plug it into the car. Is the socket under the hand breake like it used to be on the Passat??

Do the Passat sensors fit? What is the part number, I know that the ones I have fitted finish with a B.

Dear briskodians, I know that I had a post before regarding the parking sensors but this is more, lets say in depth... This is getting stupid, the whole thing...what?? £77.60 + VAT for 1 parking sensor...MADNESS!! For those who are wondering, you can unplug the rear parking sensors without taking the bumper off, done it last night, checked connectors and put them back in. So easy to do. Could someone tell me how could I check each sensor so I can find the faulty one? Been reding around and in one post someone suggest: Turn the key until electrics on then engage reverse, that's when they should start beeping individually like a test mode. That doesn't work for me...when doing this on my Superb it just goes short beep then followe by a long 3 seconds beep, then nothing. Same with engine running. (Beep.Beeeeeeeeeep) Is there any cheaper sensors that would fit that sleeve, plug and voltage??? Cheers!!

thank for the fast reply, the roof upholstry had a few marks since I bought it 2nd hand. I tried cleaning them with some dashboard wipes and made it worst. coulour don't help as it's cream. DOH!

Hi all, Cleaning the car the other night I noticed that the spare wheel I got it's not the same as the 4 wheels fitted to the car. It's a Bridgestone 205/55/16 91Y brandnew never used tyre and steel wheel. But how is this possible? Anyone else with this problem?? If I get a puncher could I use the 16" spare until I get it fixed? The wheels I have fitted are Continental Contact 2/3 225/45/17 91V

Can someone post a picture of where this sensor is located pls? Driving in to work last night I got the engine management + the so common now "Emmisions workshop!". It looks like I have to replace the fuel temp sensor and see what happens. Many thanks all for your help!!

Yep, they are located in the rear bumper strip. Thanks all! Anybody knows why they would show faulty(error) on the diagnostics?? Don't know what diagnostic they did, but I payed £23

I wonder why the stealer have told me that the faulty sensor(s) didn't show on the diagnostics. I have never seen the report myself but they said no. When asked they replyed with "Maybe they are non factoy fitted" hence why the post here. I reckon they are lying ******** and expect to charge me for another diag just for the sensors!! :orb_angry
