So yesterday the weather was decent so i managed to set about cleaning up the brakes all round and replacing all the bleed nipples, unfortunately that last nipple i tried to change snapped on the drivers side front, i may try and remove the remaining part or just replace the calliper the discs and pads were all in serviceable condition and the pads were still nice and free within the carriers from when i fitted the brakes however many years ago that was, cleaned them up and applied grease i also re-secured the rear heat shield with some scrap heat shield i had lying around and cut them into sections and folded and then secured the heat shield in place, nice and secure now with the new clips, its not the prettiest of repair but i would rather it was fitted than just removing it completely

Hello Don't think i have ever created a thread of my car on here so i'll update with pictures as i go along i don't really use the car anymore due to buying a 2013 Leon FR+ as my current daily but i bought the car back in 2014 and had around 59k on the clocks, its currently sitting at 82k i believe and in a very sorry state. had all sorts of niggles appear a few months of owning the car, was a little annoyed as i had traded in a perfectly good MK4 Golf GT (PD130), luckily i had some used car warranty and managed to get the flywheel replaced as it only started knocking a couple weeks after i bought the car. it suffered from a bad judder at idle and i then came to the realisation that the cam was showing signs of some wear, that was a few years ago and its still got that cam today, to help it idle better i played around with the cam timing via vcds whilst moving the cam within the tolerances and its been fine ever since, i will most likely get around to replacing that as well in the next few months, the timing belt is due again so would be better to do that as well whilst fitting a cam kit. like i mentioned its in a bit of a sorry state and its pretty much sat undriven for a year, the brakes have corroded due to lack of use, the genuine 5 year old battery gave up months ago and i lost all interest in doing anything with it. The sills had seen better days even when i bought the car and they're looking a bit worse for wear but ill go ahead and have a bash at seeing if i can do anything with them, the rear heat-shield is hanging down as well and i have a few sections of generic scrap heat-shield and new clips to hold it back up, just before i stopped driving the car i noticed a very sweet smell when the heaters were on hot and very bad condensation, turned out to be a leaking matrix, i did replace that but the metal pipes broke so i have still yet to source some rubber hose but at least there's no more condensation, the heater matrix is currently bypassed for now, the spoiler has zero lacquer and the wheels are in urgent need of a refurb, i really want to fix everything on the car now because i have the luxury of being able to do it at a slow pace and not have to worry about having to get it mobile again for the weekly commute. here are some of the things i'm planning to do or already has ordered 4 new stainless steel bleed nipples full brake strip and clean and bleed new PAS pipes (going to hammerite them and stone chip spray them) new exchange rack cam kit timing belt and water pump full service get the old style badges on and new chrome grille wheel refurb and new old style badges clean each corner of the car, liners off, de-grease, hammerite and underseal rear axle off and powdercoated or get a spare and prep myself along with new bushes passenger spring and shock with new top mount/bearing (drivers was done last year when spring snapped) rear springs and shocks replaced rear brake disc back plates couple years ago and applied lots of hammerite fitted cupra bushes, drop links, anti roll bar bushes and new lemforder arms and ball joints up front couple years ago grind the sills back and see whats what (better than just leaving them i guess) complete the heater matrix repair repaint the callipers (assuming they're all serviceable) first repair will be sorting out the brakes as the pedal is pathetic and the discs really need cleaned up so the stainless steel nipples will get fitted and will get new fluid put through the system, should be doing this in the next couple weeks and will update with pictures
  3. nice results, ive got a neglected fabia vrs which will most likely end up getting the sills done, im half tempted to get rid of my current car and get the fabia back on the road

  5. Good job on that car, I'm amazed at one of the photos showing immaculate sills, my past 2 fabias have always had sorry looking sills, need to get them seen to and extra stonechip protection added
  6. This is most likely the best looking fabia vrs in the world, the detail stuns me on this, fair play, I'd be scared to drive it anywhere after all that work, wouldn't let it out my sight

Evening, changing the matrix on my vrs along with adding the adapter from a petrol variant so I can add rubber hose, Ive been told the pipes will fit with this part number 6R0121157 and have also been told they don't fit but nobody has shown any pictures of fitment so I'm not 100% on what is true So if anyone has fitted these pipes to their vrs can you shed some light on the fitment or point me in the direction of where to get hose and the diameter I need, I was hoping I could fit the pipes I've mentioned, my only concern with generic hose is that its essentially a straight piece of hose and doesn't have the designed bends etc, thanks

I've had 2 fabia vrs's and one Mk4 golf gt all of which had the 130, remapping is always an option just haven't really looked into how much it would affect the premium etc, the lack of 6 gears would be another thing I'd need to get used to yeah although I'm rarely in 6th most journeys, I use my 2017 Leon fr for the weekend drives out and about, Mrs uses it to commute during the week Hopefully I should be seeing one at the weekend and will get a better understanding of the power delivery in comparison to my vrs Is it just me or do you get the feeling your suddenly not cool enough anymore for a vrs when your hitting 30 lol

Evening, I'm thinking of possibly replacing my 2007 SE with a mk1 fabia estate pd100, seen a few pop up but haven't been to look/take them for a spin yet, I'm guessing there's a few guys on here who has maybe had the opportunity of driving both engines and was wondering how obvious the lack of 30bhp is for every day driving around town?, I'm also led to believe the BLT had a bit more than the stated 130? remapping a pd100 isn't really something I'm looking to do especially as I'd like to keep it standard for insurance purposes, I've always been more than happy with the pd130 power delivery and my last 3 cars have all had this engine so Im a bit unsure how the pd100 would be in comparison especially being a slightly bigger car in general I love my vrs don't get me wrong it's a good old daily, I've just been swaying more toward the practicalitys of an estate past few months and the fact I don't see me moving on from a 1.9 tdi any time soon or possibly ever haha Thanks

Maybe I'm just unlucky but I replaced my accelerator pedal with a new part to cure the high idle (lift pedal, rpm goes back down) just under 2 years later and it's back with a vengeance (lost the receipt) every journey, wouldn't mind so much if they were cheap enough, think it cost me the best part of £100, shame there's no way of stripping it down and fixing it, guess I'll be buying another pedal
  11. Strangely I don't get any idle vibration, only slightly when coming to a stop then it's fine again, cruising down the motorway is fantastic though, next to no road noise at all, so smooth

I haven't had it aligned since no but the workshop manual does state it only needs aligned if the steering is out which it's not at the moment but yeah I see your point on that, I do plan to get it aligned, I've still got a wheel bearing to replace for the mot in a couple months so once I get the bearing fitted next couple weeks I'll get an alignment carried out on it, out of curiosity what did you set your rpm to?

Good evening, got round to fitting new cupra console bushes along with new arms and ball joints and anti roll bar bushes on my fabia vrs, nice and firm now however I'm not sure if it's just they way these bushes are because it's solid but I notice a slight wobble on the steering wheel on some roads, it's as though the steering wheel wobbles to the left or right sometimes, it's only been a few days since they've been fitted, everything's all tight and rebuilt exactly as it was I can also experience the vibrations from low rpm driving which I was aware of, unsure if I'm going to keep them fitted after the summer or not I'll see how that plays out over a few months, not sure if it was as common on the cupra as it did have that little extra power over the stock vrs

  16. No worries lol just hoping someone's maybe had similar issues with theirs, I kept it in place to help with shutdown, as it's standard I wasn't fussed on removing that, only to help with carbon build up

Evening all had my mk1 fabia vrs nearly 3 years now and over time replaced a few things as you do with general maintenance but there's one particular issue that really annoys me at times and it's the general start stopping around town that Ive been scratching my head for a while now It's just not nice at all to drive other than on a motorway at constant speeds The engine can judder at times more so after a short journey once the cars heat up, fine from cold and fine after a motorway jaunt but get the car up to temp around town and it's almost as though it's misfiring, here's the strange part - turning on the rear heated screen and AC calms it down a lot at idle or until I give it a blast and come to a standstill it's fine When I drive the car Im getting jerks when changing gear, almost like the dogbone mount is non existent, driving in normal traffic and let off the accelerator it's almost as if the engine is kangarooing, stick a load on I.e aircon and rear heated screen and it's as if it drives a bit better but still rubbish, I even need to precisely time when to drop the clutch because it feels like the engine rocks back and forward when disengaging. I've done a lot of work, gearbox and dogbone mounts, injector loom, timing belt set with vcds, accelerator pedal (high revs which I thought might of contributed to the issue) flywheel, clutch, release bearing, everything genuine, egr delete and programmed out, I even done a liqui moly injector clean by running it straight to the injectors from pipework I made up. Issue was present before above work, kind of let's me down driving the car especially when I've drove other mk1 fabia vrs's and they drive spot on and probably hasn't had the amount of care and attention I've given mine My only other notable signs of wear on the car is a slight whine from the turbo and slight scoring from the cam which I can only put down to the non Skoda service stamps in the book as I always change every filter every service along with it all being Skoda parts and oil, please pity me and my fabia haha

Afternoon fellow briskers been noticing something strange on my mk1 vrs, when I'm changing gear say from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd I'm experiencing what I can only describe as the engine rocking back and forward when dipping the clutch to change gear at low speeds, that might be an excessive description but in my head that's how I imagine it, I changed the gearbox mount and dogbone last year, only mount I haven't done was the engine mount, I'm just wondering if this is the problem, anybody else experienced jerky changes when changing gear? Also get this annoying car wanting to shoot forward when driving slow and in the correct gear that's mostly when it happens and you dip the clutch, driving behind traffic jams for example car picks up speed, dip the clutch and I'll experience that rocking sensation, never really heard much from others complaining of engine mount issues always seems to the mounts connected to the box, thanks

Never really got back to this thread since creating the post Replaced the pedal and the high idle was cured to an extent but I'm still getting the above description, new pedal is even playing up again, lifting it up brings the revs back down, it can be so harsh taking off from a standstill, I've never been as stumped with a car as much as this lol
