  3. OK I take it from the replies that its not true. A simple "no its not true " would have sufficed.
  4. I hope so. I was told by a taxi driver I always use. He has always bought superbs until he went to buy a new one and asked why the price was cheaper than last year and the reply he was given was that they are now using Vauxhall engines. He went and bought a VW instead.
  5. Guys my 2004 MK1 is giving up. I have had it 12 years so its time for a newer model. I was horrified to be told that Skoda are now fitting Vauxhall engines into the skoda range. I will not be getting one of these. Ok my question is from what years did skoda start fitting Vauxhall engines? I am looking to get the estate version not sure fuel type yet possibly a Derv as I tow a caravan. Thanks in advance
  6. Hi all have a problem with the fuel cap release on my superb. I bought a new solenoid fitted it and guess what it still does not work. Does anyone know what I should be seeing at the connector to the solenoid. I have listed what I have found with my multi meter. Meter on volts. Nothing operate switch very small voltage. Switched meter to continuity and it shorts out across terminals operate switch and the short goes. Should I be seeing no volts then 12 volts once switch is operated? Car electrics are a different world to the normal stuff. Hope this helps Many thanks Andrew
  7. Hi all Sorry I have only just got back. been away on holiday. Right in the end it was a vacuum valve that holds the boost valve open at low revs. It goes like a train now Thanks for all the help all.
  8. Hi all I have the same problem. Tom thanks for the advice I have a question. I can see the ribbed channel but how do I get hold of the cable to move it up a couple of notches. mine is quite far down and I can not get hold of it. Does the lock surround come off enabling better access? Thanks in advance Andrew
  9. Hi All just got back from garage. They had a quick look result. All the pipes are still connected and no splits. They agree that it is down on power. No fault codes showing on computer. They have said it’s an odd one. They think it may have something to do with the boost pressure valve but it’s not reporting a problem on the computer. When the turbo cuts in its fine. Can this happen?? Where do they start? They suggested changing the boost pressure valve first???? many many thanks Andrew
  10. That sounds interesting I have just had the radiator changed do the inter cooler pipes have to be disturbed to change the RAD? Would the Dual mass flywheel cause power loss. Its fine past 2500 rpm its just flat as anything below that. I have my foot flat to the floor and it just slowly picks up then after 2500 rpm of she goes????
  11. Oh yes that would help sorry bit of a panic at the moment with holiday coming up. It is the 1.9 pd 130 break. It is on a 53 plate and has done 89000 miles.
  12. Hi all can you help im in a bit of a spot. Going on holiday in a few days and all of a sudden the superb will not pull bellow 2500 rpm. I have my foot flat to the floor in 2nd and 3rd and nothing until it get up between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Any ideas please fingers crossed it’s a quick fix
  13. Hi guys. I just had a quote to do my 04. it was £340 that was with the tensioner being changred. They said it would be another £35 if they had to change the water pump. This was from a SEAT dealer. they used to be a skoda dealer as well.
  14. Thanks for all the advice. is there any way you can test each sensor to check which one is faulty. I have a meter to check them with. Do they go short or open when they pack in? Can you get after market ones that fit in the same holes on the bumper? Have skoda addressed this problem? once again many thanks.
  15. Thanks fo rthe reply. How much does a new sensor cost and is it a easy job to change one?

  17. Hi all i have a little problem. I have water in rear foot well drivers side. I have checked out the forums and found i had a scutle full of water, so i have unblocked that drain plug. but the door card on rear passengers side is wet on the bottom and when i open this door the door seal is wet and a bit of water runs out. I can not hear any water in the door but from the evidence i the door is my source of the problem. I have found out how to remove the door card but what i would like know is if some one could let me know the next steps to solve this. Like wear are the drain plugs and how to re seal and so on. Many thanks Andy
