My central locking is not working with the ignition key. I have changed the battery without a positive outcome. Any obvious checks to identify the problem or even fix it?

Anybody know of a breakers yard that specialises on mk1 Fabia vRs’s? South of Birmingham towards Bristol would be ideal, but I am willing COVID permitting to travel.

Front passenger door. Inner I think. The inside handle has broken from the link with cable opener so the passenger cannot open the door. it opens from the outside, but not the inside.

I would like to purchase a passenger door handle for a Fabia Mk1 VRS 05 reg. Nobody seems to have one. Anybody know where I can get one?

As we are old and “modern”, we are looking at converting from diesel VRS mk1 Fabia and diesel VRS mk3 Octavia to a 1.5 Tsi Karoq. Just done a test drive and was NOT impressed with the 1.5 engine in normal mode. So the salesman said use the sport setting. Now that was a lot better. Even sorted out an individual setting with only the throttle in sports setting. Now the bad thoughts start to creep in. How much worse is the mpg in sport compared to normal? i know it is wrong, but we have been spoilt by driving beautiful cars around.

I actually know of a person who has taken an old power unit from a Tesla Model S and put it into a VW Splitty Campervan. Have not seen it yet, but the anticipation is wonderful. But really haven’t considered it for the Fabia..............yet!

Would a Euro 5 compliant engine fit? Would it involve the whole drive chain change? Not impossible?! Written off recent VAG car with “nice” engine and gearbox in it could be possible. Getting the new taxation class would also be fun.........and expensive. Thank you

I love my Fabia Mk1 VRS! Had it from new. 05 reg with 107k on the clock. Still makes me smile ever time I drive it. However this emission issue is getting up my nose and will, less so, probably hit our pockets. So............can I spend money upgrading it to reduce the emissions to Euro5 levels? We have a diesel Mk3 Octavia VRS estate with the “right” engine in it. But the Fabia deserves respect. Your thoughts?

Just seen this one and I would like to put a tight Yorkshireman's solution forward. Warm water with a few drops of white vinegar in it. Put on with a wetted cloth. Dry off with a clean dry cloth. Done

I know it is nothing, but this gets me into all sorts of trouble. I think I double press the unlock button and of course my door opens. However the passenger door does not. This leaves someone out in the cold patiently (grumpily) waiting for me to press the button twice again. Is it possible to program the Octavia III to accept one press to open ALL the doors. The opportunity for a robber to get in before I move off and the doors automatically lock is very remote in this area of Bristol. However the opportunity for an ear bending from my "patient" passenger is very high at present. Best regards

Got a hire Octavia Estate in Italy with German signage. How do I change it to English? Should know, but senior moment and forgot. So annoying!

I am concerned about this raised topic. If you have ordered a Diesel vRS you must have driven one and know what you are in for. As with TripAdvisor, ignore the miserable and over enthusiastic and look at the middle ground. Got a Diesel vRS Estate with 5K on the clock and it just gets better and better. This is our second Octavia estate and I have only just discovered the tipping at the back of variable flooring! More power than our Fabia Mk 1 vRS, but I drive it more sensibly. For the money IMO there is nothing to touch it. Hence I bought one!
