  1. Would anyone know the part no. for a Radiator fan for a 2001 Fabia 1.4 mpi?
  2. My Sister had the same problem about 18mths ago with her 2001 Fabia. We brought it to the main dealer and they diagnosed a failed steering pump. They quoted 800 euro + lab for a new one. I got a new one on ebay for about 350 euro. They charged about 100 euro to fit it. About a year later the power steering failed again. I checked the fluid and it was low.I topped it up and the power steering was ok again for another few months when it failed again. The steering rack was now leaking.I would have left it and just kept topping up the fluid if it wasnt so hard to get at the power steering reservoir which is in a ridiculous place under the battery. We had the rack reconditioned at a total cost of 300 euro incl removal and refitting.A new one of these would have cost about 500 euro plus fitting. Now the radiator fan has gone. This is by far the worst car for failures any of my family has ever owned for the last 30 yrs. I am trying to get my sister to get rid of it. Anyway the best case scenario is that the angle sensor has just failed. But you hear so many stories of people having multiple failures with power steering it just isnt funny. Best of luck with it
  3. such a pain to top up the res though. You have to remove the battery, battery box, air filter box. such stupid engineering putting the reservoir under the battery.Sisters fabia steering rack is leaking after replacing the pwr steering pump a year ago.The car only has 40k miles. also had to replace the radiator, oil press sensor, coolant temp sensor, and now the radiator fan isnt coming on. Skoda Fabia has to be one of the worst cars around as regards parts failure. certainly the worst any member of our family has ever had.
  4. Does anyone know if LHM can be used instead of CHF 11S in the fabia? finding it hard to get CHF11S
  5. Ok, Thanks, Is oil being present in the sensor connector a thing that happens when the sensor fails?
  6. My Sisters oil pressure warning light and buzzer has been coming on in her 2001 fabia 1.4. I had a look at the oil pressure sensor and there was oil present in the connection between the wire and the sensor, presume this means the sensor is unserviceable. I then unscrewed the sensor from the engine and this caused oil to leak out. Is it necessary to drain the Oil from the engine to replace the sensor?
  7. Had car at main dealer again today. They did another diagnostic and found 3 blown fuses, one they said was a main battery fuse, which they replaced and the new pump is now working. dont know how the fuses would have blown when I was installing the new pump as the battery was disconnected.cost another 100 euro. anyway at least its working now.....fingers crossed it stays working .
  8. soft coding ?, not familiar with this, please explain, thanks . The pumps look identical even though the part nos are different. The part no of the old pump is 6Q0423155AE according to the main dealer, I couldnt see any number on the pump itself. The part no. of the new pump is 6R0423156. I queried the seller about this and they responded quote: " the part number advertised is the latest part number from vw you might have 6Q0423155/AB/AE , 6Q0423156/AB/AE 6Q0 423 156 S there also other numbers as well this pump will fit all fabias, polos and ibizas is brand new genuine and you dont have to return your old unit like some other sellers want you to." The pipe fittings and 3 electrical plugs at the front all fitted fine. Is there some other procedure required to get the pump to work other than just connecting the wires and pipes and filling it with fluid?
  9. while parking, not parked, the steering is used alot
  10. Bought pump on ebay for 344 euro, put it in myself which is straightforward enough, power steering still not working ! F****ing Hell
  11. I disconnected the failed power steering pump and the battery has been ok for 2 weeks
  12. A bad battery will never cause the batt light to come on, this only comes on when the battery isnt being charged, you have or had an alternator problem, the voltage at the battery should be about 13.5V with the engine running if the alternator is charging correctly
  13. not quite true, if for example you are parking the car on a winters night with your heater fan on, Lights, heated rear window and mirrors. the pump is going to draw 60 amps, one headlight bulb will draw about 4 amps, total current draw could be in the region of 100 amps. the alternator isnt going to supply that at engine idle so the battery has to make up the shortfall
  14. is that for Vrs or any fabia? sounds very big for a small car
  15. whats the minimum recommended capacity battery for the fabia ???, Ive just read on another thread that the power steering pump draws 60 Amps!
