  1. My daughter has an assistance dog called Yaris (he was sponsored by a Toyota dealer) and thought it would be nice to have a video of him at work from a 'dogs-eye' point of view so have been trying to adapt a mount to go on top of his harness. First attempt works but does slip a bit - currently working on version 2. Small clip here :http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlevett/9670515191/ Its not brilliant as indoors in poor light and had to email it to be able to post to Flikr but gives the idea.
  2. Try one of these: http://joovuu.com/store/index.php?id_product=14&controller=product can be configured as loop record, start stop with ignition or several other ways. Superb picture quality - google Mobius Action Cam and lots of youtube videos and reviews. Been using mine in the car, on my bike and on the dog. Very pleased with it.
  3. Definitely Poundland as it's the only pound shop we have in town - I'll have a look later and see what stock code is (got to go and get some more of these http://www.poundland.co.uk/leisure-and-entertainment/diy/decorating/its-diy-time-non-woven-work-suit - ideal for working on old cars, saves washing overalls) - it may have just said "for hand held game console", looked at website and only has fraction of whats in store.
  4. Poundland do a zipped padded case for the Nintendo DS thats perfect fit with elasticated mesh pocket inside that stops it falling out when you open case and pockets on other side that hold SD cards for music etc. And before anyone asks - it's £1
  5. Ours is red with ivory - does make it look bigger inside, will post some pictures later. Had the light coloured interior on Fabia before this and stayed claen over the 5 years we had it, fabric is treated with something that makes it easy to wipe off marks with a damp cloth.
  6. Ours does that as well, and on slip roads joining a motorway - we took it in to dealer as wife thought it was dangerous but no fault found and another car in their stock exactly the same, put down to quirk of ASG, can get over it by putting foot down hard and quick to 'kick-down' - get used to it after a while, either that or gearbox improves when run in. Do you have Citysafe option? Try turning it off and see what happens then - be interested to see your comments.
  7. Well fortunately not the Citigo but had the Honda 8 weeks and .....
  8. Had my iPhone since July last year and wouldn't have any other phone now. Use it to sync with Outlook on my pc so always have my diary and contacts with me, email for my other job, Don't use many apps although I do use Google Earth for planning meetings and Motion X as hand held GPS. One of the best things for me is the texting on it - I have a problem with using small keys and always hate havinfg to press keys more than once to get a letter - iPhone has a QWERTY keyboard for text and in landscape mode is very easy to use. Phone keyboard is also nice and big as is the calculator (and it turns into a scientific calculator if held sideways) Having the phone, email, contacts, diary, internet and iPod all on one device that just works is brilliant.
  9. I sit on the Planning Committe for th elocal council and we dealt with a case like this a few months ago - almost identical situation to you, chap cut down a hedge (was about 4 metres high) and removed a chain link fence and replaced with a 1.8 metre fance. A 1.8 metre fence is normally permitted development but as this was on a corner adjacent to a highway it has to be less than 1 metre high. Planning Committee had to refuse pernmission as it was against regs. and highways authority had objected on safety grounds. Fence owner went to appeal and appeal was refused as in planning inspectors opinion if highways authority objects on safety grounds this should be detemining consideration. Talk to your planning department - if it's only a neighbour objection and not a safety issue then they may well approve, you will have to put in a planning application though, if you lose and appeal costs are down to you though as planning authority has acted within law. If the case we heard had been purely a neighbour objection it may well have been approved.
  10. My does that too. With regard to the poor reception my wifes 08 Fabia had this problem - dealer changed ariel base but didn't cure - then changed the ariel lead (means taking half the car to bits) that cured it. All done under warranty.
  11. Just seen this letter from the Department of Health - may be time to get your tinfoil hats out: 14 September 2009 Emergency Preparedness Division Richmond House 79 Whitehall London SW1A 2NS To: NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executives NHS Acute Trust Chief Executives CC: SHA Chief Executives SHA Emergency Planning Leads Gateway Reference Number:12374 ROCR /09/0024 Dear Colleague, Planning for an incident involving people who have been irradiated The Emergency Preparedness Division of the DH has as a high priority this year to address the medical support and resources that might be required in the event of a large-scale irradiation incident. We are currently undertaking a survey to identify the location of beds that might be available to treat neutropenic, but non-contaminated patients. We have used the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) haemato-oncology trials database to identify 274 hospitals that currently treat neutropenic patients in the UK. This database says your hospital/Trust treats patients with leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma, paediatric tumours and bone marrow transplants. The purpose of this letter is to let you know that during the coming month, we have asked the Emergency Bed Service to help validate and verify the data we have collected so far. We have also asked EBS to establish who it is best to contact in the event of an emergency and there is a need to seek places to treat people affected by irradiation. I am conscious that many of your services and staff are under considerable pressure presently and we will make sure that this validation is not a burden to your Trust. If you require any further information, please contact Verity Kemp who is the project manager for the development of the guidance. [email protected] Yours sincerely, Dr Penny Bevan CBE
  12. Varadero is close to where we stayed (Jibacoa) it's a bit touristy with lots of big hotels so take a chance to get out and see some other places, The river trip is good and you have to do a trip to Havana although avoid the full day one with the night club in the evening - it's a very long day (18hours) and definitely don't do it on the last day. If you get pestered by beggars tell them to go away and they do. Take a USA style plug adapter with you for any electrical stuff - you can't buy them there and also make sure take asprin/paracetemol/ibuprofen, seasick and dihorea pills with you, shouldn't need them but difficult to get if you do and also batteries. Leave them behind when you come home - they will be much appreciated Congratulations and enjoy the honeymoon - it was ours too (although we had been married 29 years)
  13. Following last winters weather we have lots of potholes in the roads in the area... We are also running out of landfill sites... I see a potential here for solving two problems in one go - fill the potholes with the residual waste and compact, quick skim over with a top layer of tarmac, jobs a good un.
  14. I went to Cuba last year - US dollars no good, very very few places take credit/debit cards and there is a very high service charge if you do find somewhere that wil take it.. Take cash (UK pounds are fine) and only exchange for CUC (convertible Cuban Pesos) at your hotel. The exchange rate is fixed daily by the government and is the same everywhere. DO NOT buy local currency, it's worth nothing and only the locals use it when they have to. If you are going with a tour firm (we went with Virgin) they will let you pay for any trips you do in sterling. Don't change more money than you need - it's a closed currency so you can't take it out of Cuba. Make sure you have your visa before you go and remember to save some CUC's for the departure tax on your way home. Enjoy your trip - what part of Cuba are you going to? I think you are pretty brave going in the middle of the hurricane season.
  15. Where's the 3 for a fiver at Peacocks button ? (and I get 40% off that).
