  1. I've had two vectras with the same engine, loved the way they drove, I ended up buying a CRD tuning box from DTUK, got a good discount from Andrew (owner) who I can vouch for as super helpfull and always on hand on his mobile of any help is needed. Think I was running about 185bhp with the tuning box, this was on 2006 vectras, apparently the astra with the vary same engine makes about anothyer 10bhp over and above the veccy for some reason.
  2. Car now sold to someone who'll love it as much as I did. Thanks for all your interest.
  3. I've been told the registration number is a Cumbria based one. Deposit taken, the car should be going to it's new home on 7th May.
  4. A stupid woman at Tesco, braked hard, took a left turn in front of me nearly causing me to "rear end her" , then done exactly the same thing 100 yards later...I tested my horn adequately...lol
  5. Pics in 2nd post, lots more available on request. I'm selling my 2006 octavia VRS tfsi due to the imminent arrival of my new car on 5th May. it's a bit difficult for my wife getting in and out so we've ordered a taller car with higher seats. It's a black Magic 2.0tfsi with only 38,000 miles with skoda history. Cam belt done last year with receipt. excellent bodywork, paintwork in fantastic condition other than a couple of stone chips as you'd expect. 18" zenith alloys with 4 x Vredestein ultrac sessanta tyres, fitted 1000 miles ago. I had a towbar fitted two weeks ago as I was planning on buying a caravan for our summer holidays but it wasn't to be so the towbar is brand new with a receipt from the garage that fitted it. cost me £300. I'm not removing it as it would cost me even more to have it removed. The interior is perfect, spotlessly clean without any staining or rips etc. it has the jumbo box and 6 disc cd changer. tax is due at the start of June and the Mot runs until 10th June. absolutely everything works as it should, the coilpack recall has been carried out by Ingrams Skoda. I have both keys and all the relevant paperwork. I really have treated this car like a baby and will be sad to see it go. it only ever runs on bp ultimate or tesco 99ron. it actually prefers the tesco stuff I think, don't know why. Anyway, I'll have to get some pictures up, soon as I work out how to upload them from my iphone I'll do it I'm looking for £6000. Feel free to drop me a text, email or pm. 6. I would personally love to reduce the miles I do but I am at the bare bones of reducing my travelling, I only do about 150 miles in a normal working week. I have cut out going a drive just for the hell of it and also taking my family to the usual far flung haunts we like to visit as a treat...Although this is partially cost driven it's also just becoming habit. I have become a bit obsessive about my mpg and laterly my pence per mile. hence my switch back to petrol after many years of diesel ownership. I may well be burned at the stake and doused with urine for saying this but I'm so looking forward to the day I can afford a practical electric car that can lug me and my family around and maybe even pull my caravan......eeeeeek!! name and address not supplied for the safety of the author
  7. I have a 2006 Octy VRS petrol and am getting a quiet tinny grinding noise when low in the rev range while building up my rpm/speed. pulling away from junctions, especially on hills does seem to be a bit of a fine balance. I sometimes have to very slightly go back onto the clutch for a split second to smooth things outas I pull off. I'm not in my wildest dreams expecting any free work from SUK to have the fault (if there is one) rectified but it only has 36k and has a full history. Migtht get a bit of goodwill. I'll contact them over the next few days and pose the question.
  8. I'm just chewing over all of this and the thing that really strikes me is the new OCty losing 200kgs, that's like losing two big burly mates in the back seat! It will make a huge difference. On a slightly different note this will put all but the very lightest of caravans off limits for those who use the octavia as a tow car due to the towed weight becoming heavier than the car itself. I might need to tell the kids our caravan holiday days are numbered...lol
  9. I'm having a bit of slip when quite high in the rev range, it's hard to tell whether it is the clutch slipping for a fraction of a second or maybe little flatspots. I was reversing a heavy trailer last week and had to ride the clutch a fair bit due to it being on a steep hill and a tight space I was reversing into, there was a terrible smell of burning clutch
  10. Thanks for the replies, I have seen the Kevlar ones advertised and thought they might be a good alternative to OEM. I've also thought about just going for a OEM sachs clutch as this will keep the cost down and should be hard wearing enough for my needs.. Still to suss out whether or not I actually need one, I'm guessing I do as the biting point seems way too high and I've even stalled it a couple of times when I know it shouldn't have.
  11. Been thinking about upgrading my 2006 VRS TFSI clutch to the sachs performance one. The prices seem to be quite varying. Anyone got any contacts or knowledge of well priced kits?
  12. Welcome to the forum, I had a look at the use3d cars in Henrys skoda in Glasgow, I'm sure they are being way too greedy with their prices.
