Are these possible with VCDS on O3 MY2016 ?
woofy replied to ianjofriel's topic in Diagnostics & VCDS
I've seen someone in Australia here has enabled door autolocking when the key moves away from the car and the doors are shut. I hired a RS Megane last week that did that and it was great. They did it with OBDeleven though and haven't seen the settings needed to do it via VCDS? -
Yeah tried it without its very slim leather slipon case...fits but only just. Wouldn't want to be using that on a daily basis. Unfortunately by the time these came out the whole phone size worldwide grew bigger not long after.

DVD player mount for vRS seats?
woofy replied to kenny's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I actually found another way to go about it that I'm considering which is a suction mount from the sunroof. There is one made for such a thing that appeared recently that you can attach and then have it between the front seats. I wouldn't use it that much (we don't use the inbuilt in my current car more than one or two weeks a year) so that would probably do the trick, just can't remember the one saw recently, but people have used things like the seasuckers before. -
Yeah the cupholder phone holder won't fit an iPhone 6, we got one in for my wifes Mk2 RS and mine didn't fit. Her 5s fits fine. Really like iPhones but not the huge phone decision. I blame Samsung for the phablet and enormous phone trend, I've been hoping for an iPhone nano since my original 3GS.

DVD player mount for vRS seats?
woofy replied to kenny's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I'm thinking of looking around other car forums as plenty of seats are like this. The dealer looked into getting screens mounted in the back of them, but that was very $$$. Also not liking car audio fitters pulling the car apart, been there with my current car and others and all kinds of issues happen and damage. Pity there isn't a factory option as I would be all over it. Even the fitted screens needed another headunit tucked away somewhere to drive it. -
DVD player mount for vRS seats?
woofy replied to kenny's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
There seems to be two kinds here, one with more of the lip around the iPad and the other kind that they recommend for using in this kind of seat. The kind they recommend seems to have a smaller lip and people have talked there about it falling out. The thing I keep in mind is whether in a collision these will end up hitting the rear passengers. In my case my kids so don't want it to become an issue. We would only use it on long trips and so far the separate headrest arm type ones seem the only ones crash tested, and of course they won't work with this type of seat. -
DVD holder for VRS headrest

Anyone find something useful? -
DVD holder for VRS headrest

We have a few iPads so would use those if we could. The dealer mentioned it might be easier in the longer getting screens fitted. Weird they don't offer that. -

I've been thinking of this myself. The seat style means the usual headrest pole mounting isn't an option. Velcro isn't so good for crashes though. Our existing car I had a drop down LCD screen put I the ceiling but I'm planning on getting an RS wagon with the pano sunroof so no option there. Pity inbuilt into the front seats isn't an option....or I might see if someone can put some there. We have very long trips here (oz) and it helps with car sickness giving them something to look up to rather than down. Books are out completely for this reason. -
Both Heated Seats stopped working
woofy replied to Plantman's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
We have just recently had the drivers side stop working but the passenger side is fine in our mid 2008 rhd rs. I would imagine it isn't a fuse as from what I can tell the two involved would take out both. We have been sharing driving in this car a bit lately so the seat has gone up and down 8 pumps about 10 times in 2 mths. Fluid just be coincidence. I looked under the seat and couldn't see anything obviously pulled out or pinched. With the crazy prices dealers charge here I'm not sure if I'd be tossing money away getting them to check what it is. I'm thinking a local independent might be a better choice but still don't want to chuck money away for no reason. It's a maze of wires under there so not sure what ones to check. Being no elements appear to be working I'm wondering if its the main block connector under the seatL -
I know over here in Australia the Skoda have lost a lot of customers who loved the car, and then found out that the dead weight on the towball itself is so small in SKodas/VW/Audi that despite them saying it can tow 2000kg, it can't cope with the weight on the towball as its not really setup for the chassis properly and can't be. Funny enough I suspect that despite the ad showing the Toureg pulling the plane, the only reason it can is that there is no weight on the towball itself otherwise in reality it would break off.

Well the first "comfort" setting is usually to avoid the buffetting. Your Golf probably did it, but it was at a speed where you don't sit at for long....in Skodas its around where you mention, in my previous car I had an aftermarket Hollandia and it did it around 75km/hr...which was in between normal speed limits so rarely heard it as you go past that point quickly. I'm yet to be in a car that doesn't do it, it's just more that the speed where it does it changes so in some cars you don't notice it. The other problem is that sunroofs have got smaller and smaller, the Octavias is half the size of my Hollandia even though the Octavia is a larger car so I open it all the way, whereas in with my Hollandia I left it on the comfort setting which was 4/5 open but as the sunroof was bigger it was fine.

The first position is the one that won't buffet, most sunroofs have that...the fully retracted position will buffet at a certain speed....the flip up thing has nothing to do with it. Every sunroof will do it at the right speed. I find the fully retracted position to be less noisy 99% of the time.

Seat Cleaning & Wind Noise
woofy replied to StamullenRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Seat cleaning is something I'd like to know as well. From what I can tell Alcantara is ok to clean with a soft cloth and water. Its made to be stain resistant. The black spongey cloth I wanted to put some scotchgard like stuff on to keep it cleaner. The rest of the seat is hard, some bits are obviously leather, but lots of it seems to be vinyl....does anyone have a diagram stating what is what... -
Jettas in Australia are reknowned for handling really badly, especially on a not so perfect road, the Skoda setup here is different to elsewhere, and with the same components, Skoda have in most peoples experiences nailed it a bit better here than VW did. Funny seeing as both would have been setup by the same VW crew.

Maxidot display- how to tell if car has one

Rust on tailgate octy estate 55 reg
woofy replied to monkster's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've seen it on mine, and suspect every single one has it. Possibly even the new update for this year so think a mass effort on behalf of Skoda is warranted. This is crap for a brand new car, and I haven't seen rust on a modern car since the early 80s. -
We had this happen on our wedding day, and there were deep scratches in the paint on our car at the time where everything was sprayed on. Shaving cream can eat away a bit at things, but they must have scratched part of the can on the car itself. Was not happy....and had to wash it off in a car wash on the way off to the hotel room.

who's octy II vRS WAS this then?????
woofy replied to 150HP&counting's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hmm well does anyone know what that light was then that flicked on briefly? -
We don't have caps on ours here, didn't know they even existed. In fact apart from one big central cap on some types of alloys, I don't recall ever seeing covers for nuts ever here.

Does this code come up as a fault on the maxidot or only when its hooked up. 7k rpm is a bit high, but when doing the run-in as suggested after the first 1000km on mine it says to take it up to almost the redline which is 6.5k. I don't think I ever quite hit it, but I have seen a light flash up in the higher revs briefly but no idea what it was.....shift light? -
I haven't noticed it in my Oz spec RS and we seem to get everything standard in ours pretty much. Don't recall seeing it in the lits of specs either though.

To be honest, I have had an ipod in my Mazda 6 for years and it killed its battery being on charge all the time. I now have a Ipod Touch and sit it in the drink holders or jumbo box and use the aux in jack. That way I can use the full interface of the ipod and not ******ised versions. I can also control when it gets charged or not.
