Seat heater has BURNED through seat!!!
Good morning all, I have an update on my burnt seat debacle... After 6 weeks of intense to-and-fro emails and phone calls with Skoda UK and DVSA, I have finally had my seat repaired with a new cover, padding and heating element at no cost to me! The work was carried out to a high standard by my local dealer, Marshalls Skoda of Barnstaple who have been very helpful. The moral is never give up on a worthy cause and be sure to use key words, which in my case were the words "fire" and "health and safety" -- no one expects their vehicle to present a fire hazard, whatever the vehicle's age. Kind regards, Kevin Pallett.

Seat heater has BURNED through seat!!!
I've just checked, but sadly no recalls have been issued on this model. I have submitted a detailed report to DVSA requesting a health and safety recall, so I shall await their response 🤔

Seat heater has BURNED through seat!!!
Good afternoon, My 2015, 52,000 mile, vRS TSI has heated front seats, BUT when using the facility this morning and noticing a burning smell, I saw that the heating element had burned a 1½ inch hole in the leather portion of the driver's backrest! I have never seen anything like this in 53 years of motoring and must surely be a health and safety issue. I also believe this should be worthy of a recall. I will be emailing DVSA about this dangerous fault asap. What say others here? Regards, Kev.

VRS 2.0 TSI (EA888) oil consumption?
Many thanks for all the replies and advice above 👍 🙂 To answer some questions: 1) I have had the car for 1 year and 8 months. 2) I change the oil at 12 month intervals - done at point of sale and again 12 months later. 3) I only cover around 5,000-6,000 miles per year. 4) The car performs faultlessly in all respects. 5) I'm not too concerned about the 3,500 mile per litre consumption, but just wondered what members here thought about this. 6) I am grateful for all your comments - many thanks folks! 🙂

VRS 2.0 TSI (EA888) oil consumption?
Hi all, I cannot locate an answer to this on the forum, so at the risk of being boring can anyone tell me if 3,500 miles to a litre of oil is normal consumption for a 50,000 mile, vRS TSI 220 bhp engine? The car is used daily in mixed driving and I use the recommended Castrol Edge 5W30 LL motor oil. My previous car was a Mazda MX-5 which used no oil at all, so I just wondered if these TSI (EA888) engines do use a drop as normal? Thanks in advance, Kev 🙂

Fuel flap lock
Hi folks, Can anyone please tell me how to access the fuel flap lock on my 2015 Mk3 vRS? It has become intermittent, sometimes locking, but worse---not unlocking!! Many thanks, Kev.

2016 vRS, noise/buzz from behind dash
Hi all, I've nothing constructive to add to this thread other than to say that my 2015 vRS (TSI) made that horrible buzz at 2,000 rpm from the day I bought it in February this year. It was really, really annoying and the buzzing sound seemed to be coming from the driver's side A-pillar (but my hearing is awful, so that may not be accurate!). The buzz persisted, on and off, for a couple more months...then, it just disappeared, on it's own!! I have been mercifully free of the horrible sound for about 6 months now! If the noise does return I shall inspect the knee airbag. Many thanks to all on this thread for your very useful and helpful input on this matter. Kind regards, Kev.

Skoda Octavia 3 Owners register
Hi Briskodians! I now own my second Octavia. The first one, a 2.0 petrol Ambient, was bought new in 2001 and kept for 8½ years and 100,000 miles. My current car, a 2015 vRS TSI Mk3 in 'Race Blue' was purchased last month (Feb 2022) and has Winter pack, Black pack and panoramic sunroof. So far, so good - well, very good actually! 😊
