Roomster 1.4 tdi bnv engine seized (apparently)
skippydoo replied to skippydoo's topic in General Automotive Chat
I've got cash for either a newer car or to repair it. I loved my Roomster but I'm gutted that even with meticulous servicing its died on me. If I knew where to get it fixed reliably, and with a warrantyI think I would do it, I like my comforts. -

I'm thinking of a Hyundai i10 pre reg for £7k as I feel I need a big warranty more than a big car now -
Can anyone give any advice regarding my options please. My Roomster seized on the M1 roadworks section recently, luckily we survived the ordeal. However I am struggling to find any reasonably viable way of getting the car back on the road. Its a 57 Roomster 3 with 92K full service (Skoda and specialist) history. The car has sat in my garage for a few months since. It seems like selling for spares/repairs as a non runner on eBay might get me most money back. I am told that the engine type cannot be rebuilt. The engine had plenty of oil and water, the cambelt is ok and was recently serviced. The engine tickover was very slightly uneven the day before failure. I was advised to get a second hand engine from eBay but I feel concerned about spending £1000 for an engine and then getting it fitted for £400 with no real warranty etc. The car is worth around £2800 fixed according to Parkers. I have not had the engine fault diagnosed and don't know the cause of failure apart from it is seized as determined by the RAC. From what I have read on forums and advice from one garage it sounds like possible balancer shaft oil pump failure.

Hello I'm about to buy front and rear disc and pads. My Roomster has done 82000 miles and the discs are a bit 'lippy' and corroded around the edges. I wondered if anyone has any experience of the best cost vs performance replacements. I have looked on Ebay and Mintex and Brembo seem very cheap compared to the £199 Fixed Price each for front and back on Skoda.co.uk as I have a friend who maintains a rally car who will do it. Do I need fitting kits? Thanks in advance

Picked my car up last week after a 60K main dealer service which included pollen and brake fluid change. When I got it back noticed the climate control smelt like an old vacuum cleaner. I had a look at the pollen filter and as expected given the smell they had not changed it. Filter was grey in parts, with various dried up insect parts in the folds. Is there any way to find out if the brake fluid has been changed, it was 20k/2 years since last done. I know on diesel the oil is black within a few miles so cant really check that. Taking car back to main dealer tomorrow.

Warranty extension on dodgy Roomster

Well I've emailed my concerns to Skoda , and if they dont offer anything its a letter to Chief Executive or whatever they have. -
Unfortunately my Skoda ownership experience has not been what I hoped, and my now 3 year old Roomster has had lots of niggles, some serious and some not. Does anyone have experience of getting a warranty extension from Skoda UK free? I've experienced the following, latest first Central locking clunking for no reason, now booked in for a 2 day fix Dash squeaking Emmission warning lights ECU replacement Console bush replacement , MOT'er says dealer damaged and incorrectly fitted the bushes, and flattened part of the console Airconditioning seals failed previously Only a week left on warranty !!

I've had a quite a few problems with my 57 Roomster Aircon, Console Bushes now needs an ECU! and wonder if anyone has got any ideas on a warranty as as of October my Skoda warranty ends and I will be paying. Thought Skoda might do an extension but dealer spoke too had no details
