Fixed vs Variable Servicing - 1.9 TDi SLX
Graham Pollitt replied to wedge69's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
my 1999 slx tdi doesnt have variable servicing so I get it done every 10k. I get mine done at a local independant garage who specialises in VW,s. I have a lot more confidence in him than the local Skoda main dealer, uses genuine parts and is a lot cheaper(£30ph labour v's £50ph). I bought mine 2 years ago and have done almost 50k.is it worth using a main dealer for a car of your age? It won't make much of a difference when you come to resell. I would however Strongly advise against ANY of the fast fit type garages and a well known Scottish one with Clark in the name. I spent the last three years working in Trading Standards so you do hear and learn some interesting things. Good luck with the car and enjoy it its a good drive with excellent running costs -
Tony Jardine off the telly etc is driving a GpN Fabia in this weekends Roger Albert Clark Rally www.rogeralbertclarkrally.co.uk It'll be mostly 70's stuff though (Escorts, TR7's and the like)

DO NOT hand deliver any correspondance either send it Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery that way you'll get proof that your letter was recd. Keep copies of any correspondance. Have you contacted your local Trading Standards Service for advice/assistance? If you are paying by finance contact the finance Co as they also have a responsibility that the goods you have purchased are of saleable quality. Depends on the type of finance agreement.

What car was on your bedroom wall as a kid?
Graham Pollitt replied to Goochie's topic in Off Topic Chat
Ford RS 200 and all mid to late eighties rally cars and Landrovers. I had to cover up the crappy wallpaper that was Mr Otter's Ices. I am now in my mid 30's and my old room at the parents is still the same!! -

Engine/gearbox protector
Graham Pollitt replied to Graham Pollitt's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Got it fitted last week and Marshalled in The Park Stages Rally on Saturday. Sump guard sits a lot lower than the original plastic one so it's a little unnerving to hear the stones rattle and bang off the metal sump guard when going through the forest roads. I'm still taking my time but hopefully the guard can take the knocks and damage isn't being transmitted into the chassis. What experiences are others getting ? should it be much lower? -
MaCrae is driving a Fabia WRC as course car in tomorrows Park Stages Rally based in Newton Stewart SW Scotland (www.parkstages.com ). He's not supposed to be doing competitive speeds but having seen him drive course car a few times before anyone watching will be in for a treat.
