  1. Yeah I had 18" on my Octavia vRS. The slightest knock or hole would pop them. Cost me a fortune during the 5 years I had it. My superb is a greenline so came with 16" as standard. They look fine on the car and are low cost to replace.
  2. Yep. Even considered changing the car because of it. To be fair it is the only fault Ive had in 70k so I cant complain.
  3. There is quite a bit about this problem on this forum. I had the same on my car a few months back. It was worse with the car pointed slightly up hill. I checked the drains and even removed the wheel arch but it still came in. Turned out to be a screw hole where the wiper would be if the car was left hand drive. I filled the hole with some silicone and the car has been fine since. Here is an image I found on a previous post on this forum.
  4. I had this issue on a VW Bora I had years ago. It turned out to be the plastic sheet that covers the door under the door card had come away. Stuck it back down and put the door card back on and it was fine. Ive had water coming in the passenger footwell of my Superb like many others on here. Mine was due to water getting in via the open screw hole for the wipers if the car was LHD. Filled it full of sealant and its been fine.
  5. I wouldn't say so. Its fairly easy to get locking wheel nuts off without the right tool. Had a friend that bought a second hand car which the previous owner has lost the tool for the locking wheel nut. We just got a low cost socket from the local market, hammered it on and the nut came off with ease.
  6. Ive just changed the locking wheel nuts to standard ones after one seized and the hassle it caused to get it off. I find they are nore hassle than they are worth. These days people will steal the whole car rather than just the wheels.
  7. Ive just booked my 1.6 greenline in as its coming up to 5 years old. The indy garage said he cant compete with skoda fixed prices. So its off to the main dealer.
  8. My rear discs got picked up at MOT due to them having pitting and rust. My car is only on 57k and the front discs and pads are fine. I do lots of motorway work and try not to break hard so I guess the rear brakes are under used.
  9. I used a hair dryer and it came off no problem.
  10. I serviced my superb two days ago forthe first time. Did the lot, air filter, oil and filter change, fuel filter, brake fluid and reset the service light and fault check using vcds. It took me a morning to do and saved me hundreds and was easy to do. I still need to change the rear discs and pads but it got too hot and Id had enough so Im going to tackle that job tomorrow. At the end of the day if you want to save money then give up your own time and put some work in. Otherwise you have to pay someone else to do it for you and its always going to be expensive.
  11. Go on powerbulbs.com and put in your reg and a list of the bulbs will come up.
  12. Ive got a set of genuine skoda bars from a dealer that was selling them off at a low price as they were no longer selling skodas. They are so quick and easy to fit and are solid once fitted. But if you are going to leave them on the car all year I would go for bars with a lower profile.
  13. I know I can do that but it makes a mess. On other vehicles Ive serviced they have had a drain plug so was wondering if skoda have the same. I took the bottom hose off the rad of a peugeout 306 once. It took me over an hour to get it back on due to poor design!
  14. Has anyone changed their coolant? Only had a quick look but cant see a drain plug.
  15. There is also lots of problems with the boot locks on VAG cars. My wife's touran boot would refuse to shut at times. I took a gamble and replaced the lock which has a motor attached. Its held in by 2 bolts and a plug and was easy to change. The £45 gamble paid off and we have had no issues since.
  16. I got the liner for the hatch in my estate. Its almost a perfect fit and its showing no signs of wear after 3 years. You would think skoda could supply a liner for the estate without rails but for some reason they dont.
  17. I went from an Octavia vRS diesel to a 1.6 superb greenline. I miss the power for overtaking but on the whole its a great cruiser on the motorway and is good in town. I also find loading it ip with kids, roof box etc on long trips has lottle effect on the performance. Its also costs much less to run than the vRS. That thing went through front tyres after 18k while my superb is still on its original set at 41k.
  18. Is this for the 2.0 engines? Both my cars have 1.6 engines which need some mesh fitted as well as a software upgrade. Im not sure how they can pull it off without it changing the way the car performes.
  19. Both our cars are 1.6 engines. I cant see how the fix will work without any effect. If they want to buy them both back off me they are more than welcome.
  20. I have a feeling that they cant fix the problem without changing performance/ mpg.
  21. Ignore this topic. just found the same topic further down!
  22. Thinking about getting some seat covers for my Superb as I have the 'S' trim and two kids! I don't want them to look cheap and would possibly like leather/ faux leather. Does anyone know of any good suppliers? Ive looked at autoleathers.co.uk but they seem to have mixed reviews.
  23. Mine will do up to 70mpg on my run to work which is mainly motorway and some town driving. The average over a year is 60mpg. I never use it for short runs either.
  24. Same thing happended to me when I was trying to get a car for my father. Phoned the dealer to see if the car was still in stock which it was. Said i would be there first thing and was told to come at 12pm instead. Turned up with the cash in my pocket and as long as the car was as described I was going to buy it. Was told that the car was sold that morning! Plus they were so disinterested that they did not even see if they could offer me an alternative. So I walked away as clearly they did not need my business.
