  1. Sorry, I meant to report back earlier... My window issue sorted itself before I had a chance to take it to the dealer. Good luck to those of you still suffering the problem.
  2. I'm afraid that didn't work 999rigger - thanks anyway. Looks like I'm going to have to call the dealer :(
  3. I think I'll be calling the dealer then... Fortunately I can get the window to shut, but only on the third attempt and by holding up the switch to force it to close, which is a royal pain when exiting car parks etc
  4. Thanks for the tip Andy. If at all possible I'd prefer not to take it to the dealer, as they're hopeless :( Does anyone know of a way I can reset it myself?
  5. After driving to work in the fog this morning, with less than 50m visibility at some points, I discovered that the car reminds you by way of an audio alert and maxidot message if you've left your rear fog lights on when you exit and again when you enter the car after parking up. Unfortunately it's not clever enough to turn on the lights and fog lights of other drivers :'(
  6. Yeah, I discovered that too, but I like to have the driving data displayed on the maxidot because I'm geeky like that
  7. After wishing I'd ordered the multi-function steering wheel to allow me to control the stereo without taking my eyes off the road (it's much harder to do on a fully touch-screen system!) I discovered recently that you can simply swipe the stereo screen to advance to the next track
  8. Hi folks I've recently been having problems with the driver's window in my 63-plate Octavia III 1.6TDI SE. On the odd occasion the window will appear to close OK, but backs off when it reaches the fully closed position. It'll do the same thing when I try again, whether I use the one-shot or the lift-and-hold position of the switch. It will only close properly on the third attempt. From reading the manual this is normal behaviour if something obstructs the window as it's closing, however, this is happening with no obstructions, just what should be normal closing. Unfortunately the manual says nothing about resetting the windows if this occurs and I've tried the suggestions of holding the 'lift' button for 5-10 seconds after the window finally closes, but this has no effect. I was wondering if anyone can suggest a solution to this issue, preferably without taking it to the dealer, as the local one is shocking! Thanks in advance for any suggestions... Rob
  9. It looks like Lidl have the scoop on the newly facelifted Octy III http://www.lidl.co.uk/cps/rde/SID-206F01D2-8D7DCEDB/www_lidl_uk/hs.xsl/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=7628
  10. I'm just back from a trip in my 1.6 TDI and can confirm that between 70 and 80 the engine does around 2000-2400 rpm. To be honest I'd say that there's considerably more wind and road noise than there is engine noise at that speed. I find the wind noise is much more noticeable than it was on my Octy II 1.9 TDI, although that may be due to the engine being quieter. I'd also say that the road noise is more noticeable, but that may be due to the 17" Denom alloys and lower profile tyres on my car, rather than the standard 16" wheels and associated tyres.
  11. I'm afraid that the standard headlights are no longer projector style, just bare bulbs with a basic chrome reflector, so I suspect that this work-around is no longer an option :(
  12. I've had that as well Andy and it does seem to be connected to the DPF regeneration. I thought it was a fault at first, but I've now come around to the idea that it's normal behaviour. Rob
  13. As far as I know they display the same info, it's just that the colour MaxiDot has the obvious benefit of being able to display certain things in colour, which may be useful for Lane Assist etc. You can check the owner's manual for more info though - http://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Octavia_5E/05-2013/Manual/Octavia/A7_Octavia_OwnersManual.pdf Pages 28 and 162 being the most helpful.
