  1. I've been in touch with John at Dnatuning about getting on the group buy mentioned by Martin above. Seems he can improve the mpg on my 2011 FL 170cr dog and take it to around 212bhp. I've chucked my hat in the ring seeing as it was payday yesterday ;-)
  2. Yes you can update to the v7 maps and benefit from the newer maps. As you mention, the 7 digit postcode, current road speed limit notification and other minor tweaks will not be available until you upgrade the firmware.
  3. Josi - thanks for your help. All sorted and like clockwork. I did try looking for something like this but found no mention of anything similar anywhere. I've no VCDS, but for now that's something I can live with. Now the nagging will stop.
  4. I wonder if somebody can help me with an issue I have with my factory fit Columbus unit? Upgraded to 2764 firmware yesterday courtesy of link from Carl and all went well. Tried to use Navigation and it asked for the navi disc. I inserted the original V3 disc the car came with and it just runs from the disc. It never fully installs to the hdd. I left the car Columbus on, ignition off, disc in, on mute and the disc was spinning away and I presumed it was installing. Came back couple of hours later, no joy. Tried again later on, same issue, runs from disc very slowly and if you eject disc it promptly asks for it back, I then tried a V7 disc (7333) and that too just runs from the disc and doesn’t seem to install (shows speed warning on screen, I have 7 fig postcode entry). To add, before running firmware upgrade I tried the v7 disc in the temp mode, ie running from the disc and not installing to HDD and the maps worked (obviously no speed warnings or 7 fig postcode due to old firmware limitation). Something else I have noticed is that the phone option has now disappeared from maxidot and the phone button on the steering wheel does nothing. All other MFSW buttons work. My google-fu must be weak as the only suggestion of any resolution was on vwnavi that suggested clearing errors from the setup menu to poss force disc to hdd install, but that didn’t work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am now getting ear ache from the wife as she relies on the satnav as her internal navigation unit never functioned from birth. :p Delivery part number 3T0035670A HW-Version - H03 SW-Version - 2764 SV SW-Version - C_EU_9.242_t520 HW Vehicle - 0xC201 Active map ceverage - West Europe Active map supplied - Navteq Map version DVD - 7333 (running from disc 'slowly')
  5. I thought it would be an easy fix, thanks....but thing that troubles me, is the fact that from new wiper never hit the A pillar, then it did, then it didn't, now it does again. By moving the wiper arm, am I masking something else?
  6. Just wondering if any body is experiencing the same as I on my Superb? When the wipers are working, the drivers side wiper hits the plastic at the side of the windscreen when it reaches the end of it's upward sweep with a loud thunk, I first noticed this on a long drive across the continent, but never mentioned it on it's first service as it went away. However with the recent rains, it's reappeared and is very annoying. I will ring the dealer and enquire in the morning, but just wanted to sound out the people in the know Regards Beaker
  7. Well a year in the life of a Superb owner and 1 service later. Got the car (company) Nov 08 and were great in supplying and delivery, faultless. PDI hadn't been completed fully as both headlights were pointing sky high and the xenons were blinding anyone coming the other way. Though they rectified it on the spot when I took it in, initially they didn't believe me until after hooking it up and then using the MOT light test box. My fogs fogged up and after taking it in and showing them, they ordered new ones and called me upon delivery to install. Faultless Last weekend, 18k service and mixed thoughts. It was a weekend and they expressly asked me to be there before 9am, so I was. Technician had the keys to my car in his hand stood in front of the vending machine at just after 09:30. The car was ready by 11am but given it was a Saturday I would rather have walked out around 10:30. When I called to book the car in I mentioned it needed wiper blades and when I handed the keys over I repeated it needed wiper bleades, however upon collection I was told "we have no wiper blades in". Hmm. When handing the keys over I was told recall work on the fogs needed doing, but I pointed out mine had already been swapped out. Not sure if it was because it's a lease car, but no wash, no vacuum which I've had on nearly every other brand of car in the last few years. Still year on, love the car, might try Preston next service as I live mid way between the two. Well a week on and Gary took the trouble to call me to ask about my comments about the service, especially as it was he who supplied the car and as I commented before was "faultless" He also enlightened me to the fact that the wiper blades are supposed to be long life and as such, they haven't supplied any yet as not needed to replace any. He asked me to bring the car in to ensure that they and the windscreen are fully degreased. Faith restored :thumbup:and good to see the forum works and it would appear opinions count.
  8. There is nothing in the standard rom that comes installed on the phone that will let you connect to the car. Only hope is that some of the rom "chefs" come up with a rom containing an updated bluetooth stack enabling connection. Though this route would mean flashing your phone. I'm in the same boat.
  9. The only one I have seen on the road was in a campsite in the Vendee, France. It was an 09 in black with the tan interior towing a caravan. Didn't get a chance to say hello to the driver, as soon as I saw it he was pulling away.
  10. When I picked up my car, the dealer actually pointed out the umbrella. He also said that they order a spare to go with each car as lots go missing between the factory and selling dealer. Though have to point out, I was only given the one, so they must have spares.
  11. Nearly 7 months in, 10k miles and so far so good. I can't fault the comfort (6'4" driver), economy, road holding for it's size or its cavernous boot. I've had a couple of issues, headlights pointing to the stars upon collection which didn't become apparent until I had dazzled a few drivers at night and my fog lights misted up, everything was put right by my local dealer; Claybank of Eccles - they are fantastic. I couldn't get my damned phone to connect and had multiple profiles which they deleted for me. We are off to the Vendee in a little over a week and am really looking forward to the drive, turning on the cruise and following the satnav. I will be trying to see how far I can get on one tank and taking it relatively easy.
  12. you could always go to the dealer, have them hook it up to the PC and get them to wipe it that way. It's what I did as I had lots of profiles from trying to get my HTC Touch Diamond to work on. Flashed my phone umpteen times, chaned the BT stack and still can't get it to work properly.
  13. though I find it's hit and miss whether or not it actually moves. I have had mine set since I got it and it seems to work on a whim.
  14. I have the 170 elegance and love it! Being a diesel and the low RPM, 1st is over way to quick but then there is 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th. Pulling a way in 1st can be a pain sometimes as you are straight away pulling back into 2nd. Having said that I had a long term test in a 170 DSG and couldn't get on with it, hence the manual. In gear acceleration is startling and always puts a smile on my face, no matter what gear you are in. Size wise, I find it very easy to manoeuvre. The only thing I still misjudge is the front when nosing into a parking bay. Reversing is fine with the sensors, though when the screen is flashing red you still have around 20-30cms left to play with.
  15. I was looking at the new Octavia at the showroom today as I waited for some repairs on my Superb and have to think that the rear wiper on that doesn't look at of place and I wish it was on mine. Though the heating element works fine and clears it quickly enough.
  16. I had my car in today, 3 hours from drop off to call to collect and the fogs were swapped out. Time will tell if it happens again. Though I'd like to think that just as a precaution a smear of clear silicon would have been wiped around the outer seal before they were fitted (it's what I'd have done). I'll miss the swish of water from side to side as I turned though.....
  17. Well I have had mine for 3 months now, covered nearly 5000 miles and haven't seen another superb on the roads. That was until this morning when I spotted a very dirty grey one parked on a side street half a mile from my house. Not seen it there before and an hour later it was gone, so I have put it down to my over imaginative brain........
  18. I'm 6'4" and don't find it a problem, though not sat there too often, but was quite happy. Do you have a sunroof at all? That'd lower the interior roof lining.
  19. Got a call from the dealer today, my replacement fogs are in and my car is booked in to have them replaced on the 24th. Hopefully it should be totally painless going by the dealer service I've recieved so far
  20. I've tried everything and yes enabled RSAp tried to change the BT stack etc. I can get one handset to connect and it creates a profile but it never gets any further. Once I get into the car the car sees the phone and tries to connect. Then it says no bluetooth phone connected.
  21. I have the HTC touch diamind (in fact I have two) and I can't get either to work with the Columbus. I have standard T-Mobile rom on one and that gets as far as being seen, connected and then it disconnects. The other has had various 'cooked' roms on it with nearly every radio rom out there and I can't get that to connect either. I'm back to using my BT headset :grumpy:
  22. There is a thread on "fogged up fogs" http://briskoda.net/superb-ii/fogged-up-front-fogs/132195/ Seek and ye shall find....
  23. When I picked mine up the lights were on auto. Driving from the showroom on a December afternoon pleased in my new car, I noticed lots of people coming the other way flashing me. "Must be admiring my new car" thought I. After several more cars, I double checked that my main beams weren't on and carried on. Few minutes later I was at some lights waiting to turn right and caught sight of my car in a shop front ahead and the headlights were burning my eyes out. Parked up checked everything and even though on dipped they seemed overly bright. Called the dealer and immediately went back. I described what I had seen and they seemed non fussed until they got it on the ramps and got the MOT light testing box out. Both headlights were shooting skywards and would have been blinding oncoming cars with my nice new Bi xenon lamps. They had to double check with it hooked up to the test rig and then adjust them quite a bit to make them 'legal'. Their comment was that they never check new cars headlights as they presumed they were right coming off the production line.
  24. I got my disk, V3 but as most know it's way out of date, about 18 months old. Whist at the dealer today I enquired as to whether or not there was an update and there isn't yet. Though whilst there they brought one out just to try and its was still shrink wrapped. So they are not adverse to giving it out if they have it.
  25. Update I took mine in today and the technician looked at them and straight away said "you'll need new lights". He alluded to Skoda having similar issues with the first run on previous models, Octavia, Superb. He also explained that it could possibly be a breather hole (probably blocked) or a bung that covers the bulb at the back may not be put on correctly. He wasn't sure which it would be as he has yet to take the lights out of Superb, though it is a bumper off job! So I just have to wait for them to give me a call when they lights come in. Very happy with the response. As an aside, whilst there they hooked up the car to delete phone profiles for me and when I asked about satnav software being out of date came straight out with a cellophane wrapped nav disc saying this is the latest one we put in cars. Unfortunately its the same as I already have installed V3, which is 18 months old. Can't win them all
