  1. Sorry no, all I had since replacing my single faulty injector with a new injector was a failure of the new injector within 5 months. I sold my car a month after replacement, I had enough a looong time ago
  2. @ yaz 333333 VAG should not have charged you and you can get a full refund on this. Once again it shows that VAG are only paying off people who know about the issue and have no intention of ever recalling this. VOSA have only mediated this bribe, since nothing is being sent out to all other owners. Get your money back. Why not ask them why they hid the fact these should have been done for free?
  3. Dealers still denying the problem at the Audi forums... nice to know nothing has changed...
  4. Hope people remembered to email Watchdog today, if not please email tomorrow if possible... we'll see what happens... thanks again.
  5. I have already posted on audi-sport... The last few official letters being sent out from the various VAG customer services have one theme in common: - They admit fault by refunding everyone - They admit fault by swapping the parts - They admit fault by not fighting the issue because they would lose Except they don’t ever mention they are at fault. As a result we have a few hundred owners who have been refunded, a thousand injectors swapped out… but no instruction from VOSA or VAG, and no attempt, to contact the rest of the 170PS owners who are running around with injectors known to be defective and known to fail. The safety decision has been made on behalf of these owners, until of course they fail, then they get the official letter, which pretends to look after them by issuing a “goodwill gesture†swap. The official letter also states that customers who feel they may get a failure may seek swaps… This is where the problem is… this letter is only sent to people who ALREADY know about the issue… what about everyone else? They don’t want the message to go public to the other owners. They have a duty to inform the customer of a safety issue and rectify it has been fulfilled… voluntarily. Our duty is not to turn a blind eye to this. Many things we benefit from every now and then are because a bunch of people like us, just got together and did it for everyone’s sake, from PPI scams to mislabelling food. A few fight, everyone else benefits. Please join us, everyone who has been actively pushing the issue for their own sake and for others, and everyone who has just dropping in to say they have bee affected… join us in contacting the BBC Watchdog to highlight the issue in hope that we can get this problem solved pre-emptively for everyone though a recall and not after the dangerous failure has already taken place. ==== BBC WATCHDOG APPEAL=================================== ====RECALL 170PS VAG VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE SIEMENS INJECTORS=== Date: Sunday 25th September 2011 Link: BBC Watchdog (Got a Story) http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/ Form detail… Subject: Transport Sub Category: Cars Fill in the brief detail section as you see fit. The key points left to address in my opinion are: - There needs to be a recall - The injectors are know to be defective and VAG are avoiding a recall - There are 1000s of owners who will not be made aware of this defect - The problem affects 2.0L 170PS Skoda, VW Audi, and SEATs ========================================================== I will be sending my from on Sunday and I hope everyone else does too… if VOSA are complaining about too many forms being sent in, I am sure we have the ability to get this serious issue noticed for when they have their Monday morning meeting. I don’t want to spam them, I just want them to take notice. This will be a one off plea to get heard and I hope they notice. Please post on other forums and spread the word. Thanks to everyone in advance.
  6. Sorry, why would you "pin and close the thread" if there is no recall...? All the letter says is "if you already know about the problem, we'll swap them for you"... and what about people who don't know about it? This letter does not address the fact VAG are ignoring all the other drivers by not notifying them on safety grounds that there is a problem, and they are succeptible to a dangrous breakdown. A post-failure swap is NOT the solution. I would suggest keeping the thread open and working just a little bit longer to get a recall if nobody minds. I know it is 20 pages long, but 20 pages ago people were getting billed for a defect and other ignored for not having full service history... I hope maybe in the next page, 5 or however many, we'll be able to announce that VAG has finally recalled these vehicles and that everyone can benefit from this... not just us.
  7. Indeed, it's cheaper to sort out the owners who know about the problem, than everyone. If the forum people are paid and receive "excellent service" then it distracts from the fact they are HIDING the DEFECT from EVERYONE ELSE. This conversation would be a lot different if one of us had been seriously hurt or someone had been killed because there was no assisted braking or normal steering when the car it OFF. If people don't think there should be a recall and don't think the issue should be pushed all the way through, then by all means, go to Skoda when yours fails, swap ONLY the failed one and carry on driving... try not to think about it when you're on the motorway or on some windy country lane at night... right? When mine failed the first time, Audi told me to get lost and it was a "wear and tear " item. I paid up elsewhere, I though nothing of it, as hundreds have done/will do. I remembered how difficult it was to get the car on the side and how I knew there was no way my wife would have been able to do that... there would have been an accident... I got called months later by my wife who had the second failure... with my then 1 year old son in the back... I don't think it is funny, I don't care if it's not a "recall" item, I don't care that VAG will lose millions if they recall the cars, I don't care they agreed a refund and swaps later... I care about the FACT they ALREADY knew about the problem, and they have been keeping it quiet for YEARS. They did't release a modified injector for ME, they already knew they were defective! I care that instead of VOSA taking the fight to VAG and forcing a recall, they seem to have sided with VAG's cost saving solution. I care that there are 18,000 drivers out there, wives like mine, with 1 year old kids like mine in the back, who have NO IDEA their vehicle is a ticking time bomb, and who's car will cut out, and if they are lucky, they will get robbed of £1000 in repairs and excuses, and if they're not so lucky will never get home, and you bet my last penny they will never diagnose the cause of the accident as a failed injector caused by VAG negligence to its customers. This has to be made public, VOSA and VAG have release NOTIHNG that says there is a recall plan further down the line, and nothing saying that other owners will be notified in due course. Just browse some other forums, all the VAG behaviour is reactive, they have no plan to recall, they have no plan to inform others... they just keep the affected people quiet, and waiting for the issue to die out. If they get away with this, they'll get away with the next issue and the next and the next...
  8. I have planned to set a date and have everyone who thinks this should be a recall email Watchdog on that date.
  9. You can always be certain by asking for part numbers... and as for failure, I hope they don't... my new one did. On a serious note: I think we should pick a day and collectively contact Watchdog, it will take 2 minutes of everyone's time, and believe me there are hundreds between the forums and facebook... you won't regret it when it's on TV and VOSA/VAG are forced to answer the questions they're avoiding. Neither VOSA nor VAG are informing any other owners about this defect, VAG never will. And VOSA is telling forum people to stop sending forms in, instead of reaching out to inform more people. Who are they meant to be serving, I thought they were our government agency, not VAG's secretary.
  10. Sure, but as VOSA, THEY should be contacting people potentially affected instead of asking people who already know about the problem and who "think" they will be affected in the future to call the numbers. They should be contacting all the owners and inform them of the case and THEN let the owners decide whether they "think they will be affected in the future"... not silence the people on the forum trying to get a resolution that benefits the obliviouis majority (who most likely are still paying up for this repair, because they don't hang around forums enough)...
  11. Thanks, you said that 4 times now. What you haven't mentioned is what notice is being sent out to owners who don't know about the defect and are still driving. Because it seems that VAG is only catering for people who know about the issue already. I suspect you will a) not respond and copy and paste your only post again.
  12. I am originally from the Audi-sport.net forum, and I am one of only 2 people I know so far who have had a "new" injector fail. I put it down to bad luck, but if the injectors are in fact the same, and there is no such "double seal", then I'd be interested to see what their response is. Personally I think it has taken too long already, and the fact VAG are ignoring customers in other countries altogether indicates they are just carrying out a damage control and waiting till these cars slowly disappear off the road in the ownership of oblivious customers... I don't think there will be a recall until someone gets hurt and sues very publicly. Please message me and I can pass you details of all the other forums I know are involved, please check the facebook page too!
  13. @deecee - Fill the form so you're on the system and VOSA can see they issue is still live and well, also so you can get updated from VOSA directly should anything major come to light on the issue, and so it is on record in case you get issues down the line. - Contact Skoda and arrange ALL INJECTORS AND LOOM to be changed to the new ones. - Visit the dedicated Facebook page and "like" it to support owners abroad and help them get momemntum to push their agencies to fight their corner on the issue like VOSA is doing in the UK. Good luck!
  14. From VOSA: ========== To answer your question. Yes VOSA are still in talks with the VW Group. They currently have in place a process with their Customer care teams where they will replace all 4 injectors and the loom free of charge for any customers who are concerned about this issue. ========== It says "concerned" about the issue, nobody on the Audi forum has been turned down for a pre-failure swap, mainly because they tell the dealers they're well versed on the topic and are not going to be fobbed off because Audi want to save a few pennies...
  15. Ask for the part numbers fitted to your engine in writing then, so when they do fail, you can either accept they made a mistake or you can use it as proof they are fobbing people off. On a different note, I finally worked out using DVLA online records and general feedback on engines affected, models and manufactuing dates, that there were 8500 of these 170s with siemens injecotrs registered in 2006. 1744 Octavias and 641 Elegance. 2094, 273, the year after. Total new 170s on the road in 2007 was about 16800 (although this figure may be half because some models were changed etc...). I've posted the table on Audi-Sport.
