  1. Hi guys, I actually have a 2008 Roomster, but I guess the front is essentially Fabia, so I thought I'd get the best response from this part of the forum. I have a squeaky blower fan motor, and my mechanic has told me it's a simply fix, I just have to get it out. I got as far as watching a few videos of work on other VAG group cars, but it seems that for the Roomster / Fabia, that the top and bottom glove boxes have to come out first, would this be correct ? the mechanic was under the impression (from memory) that the motor could drop out of the bottom, but with the sound insulation removed, and looking upward from lay on the passenger floor, I can only see what it likely the side of the motor ? any help most appreciated Paul
  2. Excellent reply, thanks very much for the part numbers and info :) paul
  3. I’ve noticed that the front roof blind on the passenger side appear to be sagging, and is hanging down instead of being pulled tight, there’s a slight rip in the fabric close to the rail at the end of the blind, can these blinds be removed to be checked / possibly repaired, is it under tension that will be lost, had anyone taken one out and successfully refitted ? It’s doing my head in as it looks so untidy :( thanks
  4. forgive me for posting multiple questions here, I'm desperately trying to stop this car deteriorating, and you guys have always been a great help yesterday the boot release started acting up. when you press it, it make a double 'clank', rather louder and metallic sounding than the usual noise of the lock releasing. When closing the boot, it's evident that it's still 'open' as in, it doesn't grab the catch, rather like closing your door whilst holding the handle out, it locates correctly, but isn't held. Looking at the lock part on the boot door, it looks ok... but then I didn't examine it precisely before. in order the get the boot to close and hold shut properly, if I hold it open, and press the release again, then close it, it usually works. Any ideas. on this problem ? many thanks Paul
  5. I'm confused. The passenger side switch on the drivers side twin controls stopped working some time ago, it didn't deteriorate, not that I remember, but it doesn't work at all now. I took the switches out and took them apart, expecting corrosion and it's like new. I replaced the switches, and it's not solved the problem. what's my next course of action * * as a further note, whilst the passenger side control does work, it 'sometimes' stutters, and requires a few tries to tease the window back up, does this help diagnose the problem ?
  6. I need to replace the gear knob and gaiter on my 2008 Roomster, does that mean that I need a part that fits the Mk2 Fabia ? ..... or does the silver trim on the top of the gearstick (with the shift pattern on) replace separately ? Mine me has become worn by rings Thank you paul
  7. Hi guys, I noticed maybe 12 months ago that my air conditioning isn't working any more, the button lights up, but there's no relay click, no other sound, and no slight slowing of the tickover as there was when it was operating properly. 1, if it just needed a re-gas, would it still be 'making all the right noises' but just not be cold ? 2, is there any other conclusion we can draw from the fact there's no actual action happening, other than the light on the button comes on ? 3, if the fuse was out (had accidentally been removed) would the button still light up ? many thanks Paul
  8. Thanks for the info, I think it’s part 8/9 as you describe, I’ll try and work out which this part is thanks for your help paul
  9. Hi guys, wondered if I could ask. On bothe rear doors of my 2008 Roomster, the trim, I think plastic coated over metal which is at the joint on the lower edge of the glass to door, the bit that scrapes the water off the glass when it goes up and down, has corroded on its leading edge, it’s now pushing out at the front on both sides because of the rust underneath. Doe anyone know what the part number is for this, and does it just pull off ? thanks paul
  10. This is probably pretty simple for anyone with experience of electrics, I however can't wire a plug, well, I can wire a plug, but usually it doesn't work :( I've got an 'add a fuse' and managed to get the dashcam working, but it doesn't turn off with the ignition, and remains on (like the cigarette sockets do) could anyone recommend a suitable fuse for this use ? mant thanks
  11. Just a quick question, one wiper (wouldn't you know, it's the drivers side !) has just stopped. I'm getting the linkage that moves it has broken, come off or whatever. I've not had the chance to get the cowl off and have a look, but I wondered if anyone knows of a common likely cause, and how easy of a fix it might be Thanks Paul
  12. I have breakdown, and you're right, but I have 6 vehicles, I can't put a new battery on all of them 'just in case' I see your point, and will look carefully at the battery since it might be an easy solution
  13. Thank you very much for your response, I have a multimeter, so will check the battery today, what should I be expecting, i.e. Rough voltages that would be good and bad during steering operation on the spot ? Will test and get back to you I've no problem with getting a new battery, it has to be on its last legs
