  1. Cheers Gyp - I'll speak to the dealership and see what they have to say.
  2. I recently took delivery (Nov 18) of two brand new Monte Carlo's and after a few hand washes, I have noticed that the decals on the doors and sides are starting to come off the car. I have never owned a car with factory fit decals before so i'm not really sure on the longevity but I would have thought they would hold up to being hand washed (which is what I am assuming is causing the decals to lift off the car). Anyone had this happen and would it be safe to assume warranty will cover this?
  3. I've just sent them an email via their Contact Us webpage asking for the complete details of the testing, whereabouts of the car and an actual delivery date - The call handler earlier on said that this kinda thing goes on in the background and the customer usually doesn't even know about it - It's just been highlighted as I ordered 2 cars at the same time and one is in the UK and the other is who knows where with an unspecified delivery date. Out of curiosity, why would I ask for the miles of the car prior to transit mode being deactivated?
  4. Having just got off the phone to Skoda Uk they have said that, as mentioned above, the car gets various quality checks throughout its build, then a final one before leaving the factory. A further general inspection gets done at Emden to ensure no damage etc. during transport. For reasons not really cleared up, some cars get chosen at random for a larger quality check which obviously takes longer - Skoda Uk could not tell me what the actual delay would be unfortunately. So, guess I just have to suck it up and assume nothing dodgy has happened to the car.
  5. The build date is exactly the same as my other Citigo I ordered which is on it's way to the dealer - I suspected it may have been involved in some sort of mishap. I just called Skoda UK who are going to do some digging. I doubt i'll be notified if it has been pranged but you never know. If they do admit something has happened to it, what recourse do I have for that???
  6. So I ordered 2 Citigo Monte Carlo's back in July and I have just been notified by the dealer that 1 of the 2 cars is in the country; however, the other 1 got pulled sometime between the factory and delivery to Emden for a quality check! Never heard of this before and they stated it could take at least another 4 weeks for the car to get here! Anyone ever heard of this happening before and if so, what exactly does this quality check consist of? Thanks in advance fitz
  7. It was a 1.2 DSG which I don't think suits that engine with so little power. It wasn't a bad car, just low spec with horrible seats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. After a week at the dealer it's all fixed. They replaced the wiring loom, thermostat and a temp sensor. Thank god I don't have to drive the roomster courtesy car anymore!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Well it's confirmed as another thermostat failure so I've been told today that they will now have to speak to Skoda UK for advice. I'm pretty surprised the dealership needs external advice on this. It can't be all that complicated to do some basic fault invest!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. So I recently became the owner of a Fabia vRS and a Monte Carlo after getting rid of my Octavia vRS and I have been having a few issues with the Monte. Just after I bought the car the EML light came on with Skoda diagnosing it as a faulty thermostat; it was replaced but just over two weeks later the EML light came on again with again a faulty thermostat. It was replaced again but a week later the EML light is on for the third time!!!! If this turns out to be the thermostat what are the chances of Skoda having a bad batch of thermostats or could it be some other issue with the car causing the problem? Anyone else had this problem. Thecae is a 63 plate with 17K miles on the clock. Also, on the vRS there is quite a bad pull to the left and I'm sure I read here that this was a known issue with the vRS; can anyone shed any light on this? Is there revised geometry settings if it turns out the tracking is fine? Thanks in advance Fitz
  11. Don't worry, I'm sure the guys who drive it off the ferry into the giant car parks will have already run it in for you [emoji6] My opinion (and I've done this for the last 2 new cars I've owned) is drive it how you normally would. The running in of engines has long gone with modern materials and processes used nowadays.
  12. My DSG blips on the downshift when in sport mode on standard DSG map.
  13. Anyone who actually believes this is about borders / settlements / land rights et al is naive I'm afraid. If Israel packed up and went home tonight, the whole sorry state of affairs would keep on going. Israel will never ever lose to Hamas so the only way peace will ever occur in that region is for Israel to demonstrably annihilate Hamas and leave the peaceful Palestinians alone.
  14. Worth a read. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5602701
  15. A lot of people with itchy trigger fingers in that region. To bring an aircraft down from that height requires something a bit bigger than a ManPad system so if it turns out to have not been Ukraine, then I'd say Russia will have a lot to answer for. It's possible it wasn't deliberate and the SAM launchers were on auto. Either way, a tragic loss of life doubly so for Malasia.
  16. Our armed forces are not mercenaries as a mercenary is someone who takes part in conflict or whatever other word you wish to use, and is not a national of the country in question. There are other exceptions and rules but none other apply here. What they are probably best described as are insurgents. And they should definitely be stripped of citizenship and deported to whatever country was last in their bloodline of nationality.
  17. The ousted Leader who was rightfully kicked out of office wanted to join the EU and asked for 160 billion euros to prop up his massively corrupt party. The EU told him to poke off as they knew fine well it would get syphoned off to his and his cronies bank account much like the rest of Ukraines wealth has been. As it turns out , he was one of Putins friends and Russia welcomed the fact that they should join Russia's newly formed Eurasian Economic Community knowing fine well the power Russia could bring to bare on Ukraine. If you actually do your homework you will see that this is not some crazy western plot to take over Ukraine. This issue goes back decades and is purely down to Russia wishing to restart the old USSR machine and all the benefits that go with it. Between that and them wanting more power in the Med sea region is reason enough for them to want control of the Ukraine; another reason why Russia is still happy to support Syria (they have a huge military port in Syria as well as thousands of troops there).
  18. The Uk doesn't give foreign aid to Israel. My opinion is that the very fact that they have Nukes has kept them from being attacked by other states.
  19. The small insignificant point you are failing to address is that Iran have stated on numerous occasions that if they got Nuclear weapons they would wipe Israel off the face of the map. As far as I can recall no other Nuclear equipped nations have said anything like that. So what do you make of that??
  20. Not sure of the Brooklands jet but there is a TSE2 complete at the RAF Cosford museum.
  21. You have missed the whole point about the Black Buck mission; it proved to the Argies that we could hit their mainland with a strategic strike force from the UK. Something they didn't even think possible. If you haven't already, give Vulcan 607 a read and you will see that was something the FAA could never do.
  22. One of the main reasons the US and the UK have a vested interest in Ukraine is that we are signatories in upholding their independence. No country in history has ever defaulted on this kind of guarantee. As for troops in other EU countries and some people wrongly stating that it is no different to what Russia is doing, they are there at the request of those sovereign countries. Russia is putting immense pressure on certain Baltic countries to join it's own Eurasion Economic Union and usually not in a very nice way. Part of the reason these countries have joined NATO is mutual safety in the face of Russian expansion. I've just been to several defence lectures on Putin and the Ukraine crisis and make no mistake, Putin is 100% psycho.
