  1. Have you looked into the vacuum pump. I had an issue with my mk3 fl and skoda showed me a technical bulletin regarding tolerances in a shaft creating a metallic noise.
  2. Jonnyboy that's very interesting. I'm half way through a 3 year pcp on a vrs dsg estate. I'm thinking it will be worth 14k ish come the end of term but always wondered how the dealer would play it against a new replacement.
  3. Is this front assist standard? I dont believe i have such thing.
  4. Anyone got a fitted pic? My fl is black and the back bumper is heavily rashed after 3000 mile.
  5. Because you are breaking into 3 sensors the car will not run without the box connected. I believe this allows you to remove the box and when plugged in is standard.
  6. They didn't really show me it. Just held it and told me about it. What I'm saying is that skoda UK know about this problem but don't believe it requires fixed.
  7. Where in Cumbria are you? Im in workington and I've done mine.
  8. See other posts. Very common fault by the sounds of it.
  9. This is very weird. I had to check that the original post wasn't mine because I've just posted a post very similar about This!
  10. I've been. They showed me the piece of paper briefly and basically said there's nothing they can do but are aware of noises related to the vacuum pump.
  11. 67 plate Octavia VRS here. Been back to skoda about mine and they informed me it was the vacuum pump. He was armed with a piece of paper that I wasn't allowed to see he says. They're obviously aware of this issue!
  12. So I've now done 1300 mile in my Octavia VRS TDi DSG. Since the day I got it I wasn't happy with a noise coming from the pulley side of the engine. I thought I'd see how it went but then I had the opportunity of seeing my bosses Audi with the same engine in. Completely different. Nice and smooth compared to mine with this horrible rattling noise. So back to the dealers. Funnily enough I get the phone call. Your car is ready there's no noise blah blah blah. So I went back up and actually showed the mechanic the issue to which he agreed with me. When I picked up the car. The issue is there but they were armed with a piece of paper that he claimed he shouldn't be showing me (I didn't actually get a good look at it) but he explained it was the vacuum pump and this noise has been reported several times to skoda with this engine but is a "feature of the engine" He had a name for these "complaints" and said when there's several of them they go on a database or something where the technicians can access them. Where do I go from here? Just accept my diesel sounds worse than my previous 11 year old diesel or contact skoda and ask for more information? Anyone else know of a noisy vacuum pump? Dave.
  13. So, to cut a long story short, I've had my Octavia VRS TDI DSG about a month now. After a short spell working away during storm Ophelia the car was in good need of a wash. I got to work as soon as I got back and my son was pottering round the garden. Kids being kids he decided to help, unfortunately he used a stone and I ended up with a big scratch from quarter panel to about 2/3 up the front door! The nail test made me think that I might just get it out. Having only used a DA once before on my previous 11 year old Audi, I set to work with megs 105/205 with orange/white pads. Fortunately the scratch is 90% gone and you'd have to look real carefully to find it. Measuring afterwards I think I've took around 10/15 microns off at worst, the lowest reading I got was 105. Anyway, here are some pictures of said scratch and some afters looking rather shiny after a dose of prima amigo, dodo juice purple haze then carbon collective speciale ceramic detailing spray. (last one is a clicky vid) Dave.
  14. Browsing the play store there's a ridiculous amount of Skoda apps. Having just bought a 67 plate Octavia VRS with Amundsen I want to make the most of it. Has anyone got any use out of these Apps? Im Thinking ill need to use my phone as a hotspot, which doesn't really bother me too me too much. Dave.
  15. Only one I have at moment. The bolsters are suade. The rest is cloth.
  16. Try adjusting the climate control temperature and see if start stop becomes active.
  17. How's the high beam assist working. I collected my car Monday. Hope to be activating this shortly.
  18. Here's my 184 DSG I picked up on Monday. Absolute joy. Moved to skoda after being with Audi for 6 year.
  19. Picked up my diesel DSG estate on Monday. So far so good!
  20. Whats the score with Traffic sign recognition, do you need certain things to be able to enable it? Lane assist or something?
  21. Well, been a member since 2008 but not sure why as I've never had a Skoda, think I was interested in a MK1 Octavia VRS at one point. Lots have happened since then, been a Peugeot 206 owner (go easy!) and had a 2007 A3 S-Line BMN 170 Tdi. Not quite standard, had the DPF removed with a Darkside downpipe with a full custom stainless, lowered 40mm sitting on TTS 19" Segments. Now the proud owner of 2 children, the Audi was starting to get old and unreliable so thought it was time for something new! Pick up my 67 plate Octavia VRS in black magic up on Monday. Stuck with the diesel but as i'm getting older and wiser I fancied the DSG. Only option worth mentioning is the winter pack, not sure the space saver will win me any "options points". No pics as of yet but come Monday i'll be snapping away. If anyone is stuck regarding the older diesel engines (PPD 140/170) I should be able to chip in my 10p. I also have VCDS so don't mind a bit of a fiddle (with the car!) Anyway, i'll stop rambling on, looking forward to getting my car! Dave (incase you hadn't noticed)
