  1. Yes your right i forgot to mention my mileage and driving pattern. I do approx 10K miles a year with a mixture of urban/rural driving. I have checked on car sites here and the 1.4 is not to be had in any octavia guise. There are 1.2s for sale but the 1.6d is a lot more popular (It was drummed into us irish that the diesel was the only way to go!! Diesel fuel is also cheaper to buy at the pumps than petrol). I could order a 1.4 but i'm worried that I would not be able to sell it later on. Two skoda salesman have informed me that they have never sold a 1.4tsi and i'll have a job trying to find one to test drive.I'm also worried that dropping down to a 1.2tsi from a diesel Vrs will be too much of a fall.
  2. Hi Folks. Thank for your replies so far Talking to a dealer today it now appears that there are little or no 1.4tsi's sold here in Ireland and he advised against ordering one as it may be difficult to shift later on. He then advised me to look at the 1.6 diesel as he said that this would be easier to sell on than a 1.2tsi. Confusion. Maybe I should bear the bad roads and hang on to the Vrs until it dies. It is smashing motor except for the constant jarring on Irish roads.
  3. Hi Folks. Iv'e already posted this in the mk11 forum but was rightly informed that it should be here. The time has come to retire the Vrs (too bumpy a ride and 4 yrs old) I have been looking at a new elegance and I'm quite impressed. The problem i have is i'm undecided on whether to go and change fuel with the 1.2 or 1.4 tsi. I have driven the 1.2 and it is very impressive with plenty of go, not quite vrs like but not bad either. The salesman informed me that they sell very few 1.4s as they are not that popular and there was not one available to test drive, I would like the extra power of the 1.4 but does it warrant a near 1700 euro extra on the 1.2. Any advice on engines, fuel consumption etc would be appreciated. Note: I inquired about the 1.4 150hp ACTengine (VW, Seat, Audi) but the salesman had not heard of it!! Oh and the bumpy ride is mainly attributed to the horrible Irish roads.

  5. Hi Folks. I 'm having problems ejecting any cd's from the 6 cd changer bolero in my VRS. i keep getting an error message. Any ideas?
  6. lovely wagon Vectra, thought you were getting a seat!!Where did you get the new one from? Tarrants or Deasy's?
  7. Hi Good folks in Briskoda. This topic may have been beaten to death but does the ECU have to be opened up to enable a remap of my 2011 cr vrs. Is it a major job or simply download a map from a laptop . Angel tuning remapped my old 1.9 and I was very happy with it. Bear in mind that I live in the emerald isle!! Would a plug tuning box be a more viable option
  8. Thanks lads, a wealth of info as always. Now for the shopping for a bargain to begin!!
  9. Hi Folks. Back to the stealers lately with a recall (hose) and seen that a lot of new octavias including the current vrs have a sat nav unit( not sure if it was columbus or admunsen model) fitted as standard. When I asked the dealer he said that it would be a major undertaking to retro fit one of these units into my 2011 car, as it would entail fitting a new roof arial and taking off the roof inner lining. Any ideas. I would like one of these units if I got it at the right price. At the moment I have the Balero unit in place and I live in the Emerald Isle
  10. Octy is going very well. I may get it mapped when the warranty is out. I love the car but it does not like our country roads, especially on 18's. I'm going to hang on to it for a couple of years.

You are right about my place of employment, hangin in there!! Pity there are no steering wheel controls, bit old fashiones from Skoda, but you get bang for your buck everywhere els...

  11. Earlier vrs's were pd engines and later 2009's on are cr, that is, the oil burning variety!!
  12. Does the mean that if you are to remap a 2011 CR VRS you will take out/ dispense with the dpf?
  13. We don't get the folding mirrors as standard in Eire, but we do get horrific road surfaces!!
  14. Hi Folks. I have a six month old vrs and this morning I reversed out of my driveway and the chime for the reversing sensor was on as if I was going to hit something, even though there was nothing behind me. I took the car in/out of reverse a few times and the chime did not go away. The indication from the bolero sreen indicated that I was very close to something. Any ideas?
  15. snap again!! Bought mine from Tarrants. Best deal around and dealt with conor. Fabulous car, bit of road noise and about 45mpg. Might get it mapped when the warranty is up.

  16. 53) villa1 2011 race blue hatch vRS CR TDI 18's Cork
  17. Hi Dallan Have you had your vrs remapped and if so what are the results?
  18. They appear to be over here in the emerald isle but we are paying a lot more for cars here due to excessive taxation. Diesel cars are also much cheaper to tax(road) than petrol variants hence the popularity of the cr over the tfsi models.
  19. I live in the emerald isle down in cork and I have a new 170diesel burner since march. Here's the spec race blue hatch maxidot, standard rear sensors, standard leather seats, heated, extra 18 wheels, georgeous, horrible ride on irish country roads/tracks, much noisier in the cabin than my last octy with 15's standard cruise control, standard xenons too costly Bolero stereo, easy to use, standard Spare wheel, 16inch, standard 2 year warranty Very happy with the car so far but boy racers give me a lot of attention at times!! Averaging 45mpg at the mo. A question for all the tekkies out there. Is it possible to successfully remap the new 170cr without any issues? Is the dpf removed in the remapping process and if so does this complicate the emmissions test during future testing?
  20. I didn't know that you could get a new CR remapped. Does this entail taking out the ECU and doing a bit of welding  What are the gains, torque, bhp and economy?
  21. Thanks countryboy. Looks like it's a regen. Weird sounds amd smells!!
  22. Hi folks. I've just arrived home after a 4 mile run(mostly on a motorway) and when I turned off the engine I noticed that there was a fan running noise coming out of the engine. This noise stayed for over 1-2 minutes until I turned the engine on and then off again. The car was cold before I started my 4 mile journey. The car is a vrs cr and is 10 days old!! I never had this happen to my previous 1.9pd, Any ideas?
  23. I've just received a new vrs and the dealer activated the fogs for nothing. Oh and I live in the emerald isle in the county of Cork!!
  24. Vrs tdi CR, Race Blue, 18s, leather with heat, new smell!!
