I managed to get 64 mpg with my old fabia vrs, but this was due to me travelling at 50mph in 6th gear. This was travelling on a motorway at night with hardly any traffic.

I had the same problem as yourself last year with the same model. I replaced the window seal which was about £25 from skoda dealer and got rac autowindscreen to fit the seal which cost about £80. The staff were really helpful and told me this was a common problem with the car so they put sealant in with the seal.
