  1. The battery was disconnected for a full day when gearbox was removed to push out stuck crankshaft sensor. So ECU had enough time to reset. As for monitoring there are loads of data that can be monitored and without knowing, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have tried to do that while driving but there is nothing that pops out.
  2. I can try to do live data but need to know what to look for. Any tips? engine is just over 100k. Tensioner, slides, sprockets were all replaced with the chain. I have looked at pipework and could not find anything, I'll get through it again and also brake servo vacuum hose.
  3. Sparks plugs are new. I do no think that the problem is with ignition coils as the engine would not run smoothly and this is not the case. It revs up fine till the red line while stationary.
  4. Hi All, Over 3 months ago 1.2 AWY started giving me troubles as it starter losing power and going into limp mode at 3k RPM Quick connect to VCDS initially showed lambda that was replaced but no improvement. Reading this forum found that it could be bad compression or timing chain. Compression checked and all cylinder showing ok. Timing chain was also replaced but still same problem. Couple weeks ago the engine light came on and VCDS showed speed sensor error. Cleared error but if I revved engine while stationary the error would comeback and it would not rev over 4k RPM. So had to replace the crankshaft sensor. The sensor was seized and broke off while trying to take it out. This meant the gearbox has to come out to to get it replaced. Anyway the sensor was replaced. There are now no errors in VCDS. The car revs fine while stationary upto red line but still goes into limp mode while driving at 3k. Any suggestions? I have nothing to grab on, the engine runs smoothly while idling or being revved but cannot find why it goes into limp mode while driving. Are there any tests that I could perform? Thank you
  5. This week I noticed that my clutch pedal sometimes is getting stiff/hard to press. Only noticed this while driving not when still. It never happened two times in a row. The biting point has not changed and it does not slip. Any suggestions or ideas what to check? Do not want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. Engine 1.6TDi CAYC 105 PS Thanks

  8. You can find my experience about it the post below: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/343169-joyous-radio-experience/?p=4157376 Here is small video of it: https://youtu.be/5a10EbSqXUU
  9. Not sure about the second part. But the first thing I did in my Superb was changing the stereo to from bolero to android one. I don't know if there are any 3rd party units that would fit SIII yet but I would say it's only a mater of time. For some reason car manufactures started making stereos in odd shapes and sizes so that they are not easy to replace. Even on mine FL superb the unit was awkward size but thankfully I just needed a stereo trim from pre-FL superb to sort it out.
  10. Looks like it's cheaper to service in Ireland compared to UK. Full Service is €240(~£170) link The last time wheel alignment costed me €50
  11. Never feel good when I'm parting with my cash especially when I've could have done it 2 times cheaper myself.
  12. Good to know that I'm not the only one crazy here BTW: never noticed this before with my Mark I Superb and it went through a good amount of services in 5 years.
  13. So I brought my Combi for second service 30000km The first thing I noticed after collecting the car that it became more responsive. 1.6 does not encourage to push it to the red line but for some reason it really does feel that it has more pulling power. I'm wondering if the dealer changed mapping or something else while doing service. Did anyone else had anything like that before or is it just me?
  14. I've upgraded mine 2005 PD1.9 130 Elegance to 2014 1.6 GL. As others mentioned the new engines are more linear. Sometimes I do miss that kick at 1800Rpm what I do not miss is the sound of PD engine. Love economy of the new car though. Although PD1.9 is a good and reliable engine I think it would make sense to move on to CR2.0 140 and 170 or maybe 1.6.
  15. I did not had to enter code on mine as the option was already there. I just needed to tick the box 'License plate light w/o Pulse width modulation' try: Channel 09 - Central Electronics. Byte 17, Bit 7. Check the box adding picture from other forum:
  16. Had a good run over ~300km strech.
  17. Have covered over 10000km with mine and have not noticed any difference on the dip stick. On my previous Superb I had to top it up if I was doing a lot of city driving otherwise it would not require any top ups between the services.
  18. As the weather improved so did my mileage. According to Spritmonitor my avarage is 4.8L/100km or 59MPG. Had a good run out of the last tank 4.44L/100km(64MPG) and was able to cover 1222km(759miles) and according to computer still could do 40km. I've read in many posts that computer is optimistic but in my case it is mostly spot on. What I have noticed, that deviation depends a lot on driving style. So the more aggressive the driving, the bigger deviation will be.
  19. Maybe there is not one out of the box but you can easily get that with the help of vcds cable. Mine also was showing speed in miles instead of cruise control speed but couple minutes and I got it sorted.

  21. In ROI to get used Superb with petrol engine is almost mission impossible. I was looking for one almost a year ago and eventually gave up and got myself 1.6GL diesel. I've quickly looked what is currently available and there are 3 petrol Superbs compared to 223 diesels on sale and only one of them mark 2.
  22. I was also disappointed with the light output. So replaced my H7 with osram nightbreakers as recommended in this forum which are much better than stock ones. I also saw that osram has released H8 and H15 Cool blue intense but cannot find anyone selling them. Although RRP is pretty high. But I would imagine they will be better than noname painted blue bulbs. http://www.osram.com/osram_com/press/press-releases/_trade_press/2014/a-blue-eye-catcher-osram-expands-its-cool-blue-intense-range/index.jsp
  23. My current average is 4.9l/100km and these are not maxi values. GreenLine does not encourage me to push it so 5.0/100km is not that hard to achieve. The best I was able to get was 4.3l/100km over 200km stretch while cruising from Cork to Dublin.
  24. Yes, I got taxed as they used DHL to ship it. Shipping was free and only took 4 days.
  25. Sorry guys been busy will put video this week. I bought mine from AvinUSA but it came from HK anyway. The only reason why I bought from them is that they were doing a good deal at the time. More or less they are all the same. When choosing unit research what platform(cpu, mcu) and android version it is running. Some of the units claim that they are running higher Android version where in fact they are not. The best unit are the ones that are most widely spread and have good community support. Majority units come with 1 year warranty but unless you bought it in EU(more expensive) it will cost a good amount of money to ship it back to HK. Here are pros: 1. It's Android which means you can mod it a lot to suit you 2. GPS locks very fast and well and I did not have to route antenna out it's sitting on the unit. 3. CAN works surprisingly well. All wheel controls, parking sensors, aircon are there and working. Also the unit showing Fuel, speed, RPM and some other things without additional obd2 unit 4. Has built in multiple USB ports and Bluetooth. 5. Supports mirror link 6. Better audio quality compared to original unit(not sure how that is possible) Also it gives you more audio control(frequencies, loudness) 7. Has built in outputs for external AMP 8. Has built in Video in that can be used for rear parking or for dash cam. The unit can be used as DVR for dash cam and record constantly The cons: 1. It's Android which means you can mod and brick it 2. The unit comes with useless Fakra adapter. Had to buy a new one to get a decent Radio reception 3. With all the cables and adapters it is pretty tight fit 4. The MFD does not show the radio station name. Only the frequency 5. ChinEnglish. Spelling errors or descriptions that do not make sense. These can be fixed by modding 6. My unit has reflections which makes it hard to see when the sun is shining at it. Not that we have many sunny days in Ireland but it is still annoying 7. To fit the unit into FL Superb I need to buy radio trim(30 Euro) 8. Start time. If the unit is in standby it starts in seconds but if it is fully off it takes 30-60 seconds depending how much stuff you have installed. It is possible to configure it not to shutdown but there were reports that it drains batteries. By default mine shutdowns after 2 hours if not used. 9. The integrated microphone is not the best and it makes it worse for right hand drive cars as it is further away from the driver. So here you go that's it for now.
