Listening to other people who drive clapped out cars describe Skoda's as a car they would not be seen dead in, and then perpetuating their views so the rest of us more cleavererist folk can get them cheaper because of that little bit less demand!

  1. Well thank you for letting me know who I have to look over my shoulder for!!!
  2. In my latest posts it comes up under old darth that I have none. As a relative newbie poster, I'm not sure I want everyone thinking I'm squeaky clean! How do I stop it saying that I have 0 warning points?
  3. Hi Starship Fighter, While I don't have an answer, for what its worth I'm running my TDi CR 105 in at the moment. Not quite 400 miles yet, but the Mrs has had it up to the red line when pulling out of a blind junction. Not foot flat to the floor she said but near enough! I'm thinking a little bit of rough with the smooth, all be it when she's warmed up. The gearing and engine are totally different to my old Fabia 1.9TDi PD, and I find myself driving it more like my previous petrol cars; a bit more rev before changing, but sitting in 4th at 30mph and 5th at 40mph. So I'm still getting used to it, but I too would be interested in what any techno-geeks reckon.
  4. Hi everyone. Just took delivery of my shiny new Fabia a couple of weekends ago , only a week after I was originally quoted. Got the 1.6 TDi CR 105 Elegance trim with about 6 extras; tow bar, full size spare to name but a few. Ordered 23-Mar, picked up on 30-Jun. It was in the dealers for a week before I collected, so about 13 weeks from order to arrival. Hope this helps; after reading around I was thinking I'd be lucky to see my car before September. Good luck
  5. Cheers Estate Man. Thankfully the delivery of my new Fabia looks to be beyond my holidays this year . No build week as yet - ordered 5 weeks ago if any one is interested. Oh, and to Polanglo, good luck with the quest for your perfect Skoda!
  6. Sorry to hijack your topic Polanglo, (I too have spent the last twelve months deciding upon a top spec Fabia or low spec Octavia. Plumped for the Fabia Elegance 105 CR Estate in the end, which I think is a great deal on the no VAT here. Just playing the waiting game. Been 3 weeks and still no definite date :wonder: - calling the dealer tomorrow for an update.) but I have a question for Estate Man. In your post above (#13). You say... Now I tow a caravan (yes, I know...), and intend to do so with my impending arrival. What would you recommend? (apart from not towing ) For me it's either not towing during the learning phase so the engine can settle properly, as it will be solo more often than dragging; or throw a bit of towing after the 1,000 mile run in phase that the dealer told me about so the engine doesn't suddenly think wtf after it's finished learning. Excellent post btw , nice to have a bit to studious feedback for us not so well knowing.
  7. I have recently moved to north Scotland, and I can truly say that I am GUTTED I have left THE BEST Skoda dealership in the country behind. For four years Faintree garage superbly looked after my beloved Fabia. Doing 20k a year I have seen these guys more than others might. Each and every time I have had car problems or enquiries they have promptly replied and not disappointed. When I had a just out of warranty problem two years ago, they bent over backwards to help me. The problem had been recurring for some time, and when Skoda would not pay up, they took the hit themselves - I was truly stunned when they told me! Their customer service is excellent, their technical expertise is of the highest standard, and they take great pride in their work. I have not bought a car from here, but I have talked to their sales staff when ‘flirting’ with the idea. They were knowledgeable and not at all pushy. If I ever need to replace my Fabia, a call to Faintree would be the first I would make. And this is how good they are; when my next service is due, I’m contemplating finding an excuse to see friends just so I can justify driving 480 miles to get my car serviced! Now I’m either mad (probably), or they have made a lasting impression on me! THANK YOU FAINTREE! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  8. Did you ever find a way to remove the arrestor arm Anders? Reason I ask is that I am about to attempt the same thing this weekend. :( I asked the stealer for advice, and they said to first remove the panel on the inside of where the arrestor arm attaches to the chassis. This is so the arrestor arm can be withdrawn after it is free. Then remove the bolt securing the arrestor arm to the door, and then the two bolts immediately above and below the arrestor arm on the chassis. DON'T take my word for it yet! I was wondering if anyone else could confirm or deny what I have been told before I break some panel clips for nothing!
  9. I feel like a rant myself and wish to high heaven I had a garage to put the car in at night (maybe that's the only solution!) If it makes you feel a bit better Spanner, the list of problems I have is growing weekly. I too have a misting problem which only started two weeks ago. I read around and the only problem I can see is that there is water getting behind both rear door seals. Doesn't seem enough to cause all that condensation though. I thought it might have been the rear wash hose, but that's split underneath the engine compartment. I checked for damp carpets but all dry. Amoungst the rest of my niggles are the rear brakes - were stuck solid a few days ago, so I leave her in gear now. Good luck to all Skoda drivers braving the winter, I just hope Spring comes quickly...
  10. Yeah you're right about my car being a Fabia I! I'll have to be a bit more pushy on my next visit to the stealer. I'll post again if I get any resolution.
  11. I have a Fabia 2 estate and have had problems with my front suspension clunking from both sides when I go over the speed bumps leaving my road. Speed doesn't matter, as I always crawl over them. I have taken the car back to the dealer three times and they keep finding a wheel arch lining panel loose. I'm sceptical myself but it does seem to be a few days before the problem comes back. Warranty runs out at the end of this month as well. Has anyone else been told this problem, and do you know of a fix?
