  1. Well - where to start? Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi estate 09 reg Just had to have a new dashboard installed. Car now running OK but with the immobiliser killed off. The old dashboard was completely dead - so not been able to establish any communication with this. The electric front windows don't work! - by overriding on an output test the motor works, the switch works.# but not detecting any faults on computer (VCDS? VAG?) Can "see" switches in measuring blocks (? not sure what this means!) Dont think we have lost a fuse since there are no "open" circuits" / no short circuit.........in fact cant be since we can override! As said before - currently no fault on VCDS ALSO - radio code missing - but I think I can ask a lad I know at Skoda (he did it last time) ALSO - any advice on re-coding the dashboard clocks? getting mileage correct? Ive been given a chaps name in Rotherham & he says he "can sort it for £60 on Thursday - takes an hour or two online " - is this about right!!! Any thoughts / help / advice are most appreciated! CHEERS Stuart
  2. Had to replace the dashboard !!!! £120 off ebay BUT - now got new problems - recoding it & windows not working! - so new thread started!!!!
  3. Thank you! Info passed on! It means nothing to me!!! Eddie - can I just confirm in your answer Facelift (32 pin plug) Power pin 32 & 32.......................so both 32????? (all others are X & Y, not X & X....but I know nothing about it!)
  4. Just spoken to mechanic again - bit more detail - specifically its the "pin outs of the dashboard plug" - there are @ 30 of them? 2 rows of 12 / 15? power is not getting to the dashboard clock - otherwise could be a new dash unit!!! which new are very expensive & 2nd hand not easy?????
  5. Hi How many times do I have to write "urgent" - problems always occur at bad times! 09 1.9 tdi estate Tried to start car yesterday, engine turns over but then cuts out after 2 secs. No lights (power, transmission etc etc) appear on the dashboard. I've had it towed to my local garage where they are currently investigating. Spoken to mechanic - he says he needs a print off of the WIRING DIAGRAM FOR DASHBOARD CLOCKS Can anyone help - VERY VERY GRATEFUL - car urgently needed for work! Cheers Stuart
  6. Sorry for delayed reply - been away / busy etc Just to clarify - No warning lights appeared on dash Following previous ideas I did chuck some Forte Turbo Cleaner in the tank (actually 2 lots) & some injector cleaner..............all went well for over 600 miles .....then last Saturday, trundling along 3/4th gear 40/50 mph (I guess) then sudden loss of power - sluggish, like driving through treacle or as if I were pulling a 2 ton trailer!!!!! So - back to square one??????
  7. The garage did plug it into their own computer - to my knowledge it didnt reveal anything
  8. Hello, Once more I turn to the forum for help! The lads in the local garage were left scratching their heads! I have a 2009 Skoda 1.9tdi Estate - 108,000 miles - recently serviced - all ok Car has been running fine. 5 days ago - started car all ok - drove a mile or 2 in built up area then onto open road - foot down - thought I was driving through treacle! Really poor. Got to my destination & since then seemed to be ok........until this morning - same thing. Acceleration in 2nd / 3rd really really poor takes ages to get to 40 /50 mph. As mentioned took to garage - they looked at it for an hour - no luck. Couldn't replicate on ramp in garage. A 3rd test drive - all ok !!!!! This afternoon all ok. I did notice that when the problem is occurring that there is NO whistling sound - which is the turbo "kicking in"? Does this make sense? HELP PLEASE - its getting round to my busy working period (again!) CHEERS Stuart
  9. Nikonite Have you had any luck with any of your upgrades? I'm in the same "boat" - I have an 09 Octavia 1.9tdi My main bug is the central locking - can you explain a little more about what you have done? I'm not technical at all - so I've said to the chap who services my car "I'll do the research - you fit it!" Cheers Stuart
  10. Help please! I have recently purchased a 2009 Octavia TDI Estate. Unfortunately, there is a digital readout in KPH.....I understand this can be changed to MPH but it isn't something I can do? I would need access to the management system (VCDS?). Change to "Australia"??? So I contacted a nearby "VW Skoda specialist" - he wanted £40 + VAT - I thought that was a bit steep! I live in Doncaster - can anyone suggest somewhere to try? Is this something a "normal" garage should be able to do? Cheers Stuart
  11. Yes - its the inner trim - a big piece of plastic with a vice like grip!
  12. Thanks Sounds like a job for a professional (or rather "someone more hady than me!")
  13. Hi Wonder if anyone can help please? 1.4 Fabia Silverline "03" Frequently (60%????) of times on cold startup the Power Steering warning light comes on & stays on. If, after a minute or so, the ignition is restarted then light goes out. Seems to be worse in cold weather???? This is a documented fault on the forum - could be a variety of things but the PAS angle sensor packing up gets mentioned frequently - or poor/low battery (which it could be since it is low mileage use). A suggestion is to get a VAGCOM check? but I'm reluctant to take it to the dealers - since I'm "financially pressed" at the moment i.e. they are robbing *********'s. Anyone out there prepared to help - Doncaster - Yorkshire area? Cheers Stuart PS THANKS TO GIZMO68 FOR POINTING ME TO CORRECT FORUM (HOPEFULLY!!!)
  14. Is there an easy way to do this? without damaging the trim / paintwork etc Does it just prize off? (i.e. there are no screws - I can't see any!) And how easy is it to replace? CHEERS Stuart 03 Fabia Hatchback Silverline

  16. Thanks - most appreciated!!! The wiper is ON all the time - not just when water is pouring out i.e. switch ignition on & rear wiper starts! So I've removed the fuse for the time being. I'll have a go at removing the back panel tomorrow! Wish me luck - I did this on my Passat & its never been right since! Stu
  17. Hi Wonder if anyone can help me please? Recently noticed that my rear wash wipe wasn't working too well - so I opened the plastic cover & pulled off the black plastic nozzle. I cleaned it out with a needle - alla appeared ok - I then spent 10 mins re-setting it - making sure the spray pattern was correct! When I'd finally sorted it the motor was working CONTINUALLY - not just for the 3/4 swipes as normal. In order to switch it off I havehad to remove the fuse! Any suggestions? If the motor is damaged - how do I get the rear tailgate cover off? how much is a new motor? MANY THANKS Stuart
