    No there isn't any difference between passenger or drivers side they're both the same. The parts you describe sound like the top plate thats bolted to the top of your strut. Just under the car body you have a rubber top mount which you can't really see. Its these items that wear and thats why one will have a gap bigger than the other. Its nothing too serious tbh advisable to do them just for ride comfort etc but probably no big panic if its not knocking right now. Both struts need to come out to replace though. A nice job for sunny weather!!

    The top mounts iirc are just an alloy bracket thing with no moving parts or parts that can wear, so I wouldn't replace them they'll be fine to re-use. The bump stops breaking up is a very common issue. I replaced mine about two years ago and the new ones are looking bad already. The bump stops and dust covers can be boughts separately.
