Front suspension mountings look odd

Featured Replies

Where the front suspension joins the chassis at the mountings under the bonnet there are chassis points that look like dog feeding bowls with a large cup washer with a black surround containing a nut sitting in them.

Is there a difference between the driver side and passenger side mounts?

On my 2003 pd130 estate the drivers side cup is fully into the bowl but the passenger side is proud of the bowl by about 3 to 4 mm.

Both nuts appear to be at the same thread depth on the bolts.

Car handles normally.

Forgive my lack of knowledge and inaccuracies in description.

Do I have a suspension problem?

Thanks for any advice,Dave

Help please

No there isn't any difference between passenger or drivers side they're both the same. The parts you describe sound like the top plate thats bolted to the top of your strut. Just under the car body you have a rubber top mount which you can't really see. Its these items that wear and thats why one will have a gap bigger than the other. Its nothing too serious tbh advisable to do them just for ride comfort etc but probably no big panic if its not knocking right now. Both struts need to come out to replace though. A nice job for sunny weather!!
